Twelve small original sketches/drawings by listed artist Guido "Wedo" Georgetti. One is signed "W Georgetti", one is signed with the initials "WG". The one in the center is shrink wrapped and depicts a view in a submarine. Please view all photos to determine condition for yourself. The first dock scene measures 4" x 6.5" and is on the back of a President Garfield Luncheon menu dated 1938. The man on his back reading the paper measures 5" x 6.5". The smallest is the lady reading a book 3.25" x 3.5".
Guido "Wedo" Georgetti (May 1911 – Dec 2005) was an American painter, etcher, and sculptor. He was born in Marche, Italy, and came to the US in 1913 at 2 yrs old. Wedo Georgetti spent many years travelling as a merchant seaman before he gained significant recognition as an artist. In the 1940s Georgetti was well known for his watercolor art and prints, Georgetti was blacklisted by the government during the McCarthy era. Georgetti's work is in the collection of the National Gallery of Art.
