Bennett was a major Hollywood star during the 1920s and 1930s, and for a period in the early 1930s, she was the highest-paid actress in Hollywood.
She is remembered for her leading roles in films like What Price Hollywood? (1932), Bed of Roses (1933), and the Topper films (1937, 1938).
Bennett passed away on July 24, 1965, at the age of 60, due to a cerebral hemorrhage.
Due to her contributions to the military and her husband's military service, she was buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
