Pre 1934 thread box from Lily Mill & Power Co, Shelby, NC. Empty now but once held 400 yards of white thread. John Schenck founded this mill in 1903 as Lily Mill & Power Company. It took advantage of its proximity to the local cotton growers and produced a huge range of threads and yarns. In 1934 the company changed their name from Lily Mill & Power Co. to Lily Mills Co. The box is in good condition for its age but does have age related damage as photographed.
