Re: Rantbox

Wise words You are correct, of course, and I agree with you. My rant was fuelled by a general annoyance at several aspects of F1 for the past few months. Looking at it with a sober mind, I probably won't cancel my Autosport.com subscription any time soon. I will just stay far, far away from any obv...

Re: Rantbox

m I find it hard to fathom how two such respected journalists as Noble and Cooper can piece together such a content-free bit of drivel. Indeed, for the past few years the modus operandi of the site has felt like "Hey, we haven't published anything for five minutes, can someone call Toto Wolff t...

Reportedly Ferrucci Jr and/or Sr made racist remarks and mocked Arjun Maini’s Indian accent.

And seeing as they wanted to run Trump’s MAGA message on their car I’m not really surprised, to be honest.

When Ivan Capelli’s F1 career ended in March/April 1993, he hadn’t actually competed in a Japanese or Australian GP since November 1990.

Re: Sauber and Alfa Romeo?

Some nice pearls of wisdow from one of Sweden's biggest newspapers with regards to Marcus Ericsson and Sauber-Alfa Romeo. Few, if any drivers in F1 history have been as loyal to their team as Marcus, even though Sauber haven't kept up on track. No driver who has scored so few points have stayed in F...

So what is Érik Comas up to these days? Driving a Lancia Stratos, very successfully, in ERC Historic rallying, that's what.

As a closet Comas fan, and someone who adores the Lancia Stratos, I quite enjoyed this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWNYLtJYGZ4

Re: Ponderbox

Well, after two races I'm still confused by VER now meaning Verstappen instead of Vergne. I still do the occasional double-take.

I thought the TLAs were for life, since Michael Schumacher kept on being MSC despite Ralf no longer being in the field.

Oh well, I'll get used to it, I suppose :)

Re: Ponderbox

What makes you so sure Capelli doesn't enjoy chopping the heads of kittens and puppies? True, I can't know for sure. And while I suspect that most F1 drivers are self-absorbed and self-obsessed to the point where they are totally unbearable to be around, I doubt that any of them have quite the leve...

And despite the 25 car field in the Brazilian GP, both Lolas qualified, seeing as Ivan Capelli DNQed in the Jordan. Then again, after his season with Ferrari in 1992, it seemed that Capelli found F1 about as enjoyable as chopping the heads off kittens and puppies... No wonder he retired from the spo...

New editor for F1GP coming soon

So is anyone out there still playing Formula One Grand Prix from 1992? I am. Occasionally at least. Because it's still so damn sweet. And sometimes I like to edit the cars, drivers, their performance, etc. The only way that this is currently possible is to use an editor called F1Ed, which hasn't bee...

Re: The 2014 'Max For 25' Monaco Grand Prix Thread

I'm somewhat amused by Lewis Hamilton's recent escalation of the psychological war with Nico Rosberg during the build-up to the Monaco Grand Prix. "I should dominate Nico" "I'm hungrier than Rosberg" "there are not many team-mates that I've allowed to beat me here" I'm ...

Re: Ponderbox

Something that I've pondering: Why did Ivan Capelli not drive the final two races for Leyton House in 1991? Was it a question of finances? Did Leyton House need the sponsorship money (Remus Sportauspuff?) from Karl Wendlinger? If Capelli already had a contract for 1992 with Ferrari, why wasn't he ch...

As an old Ayrton Senna fan, this has bothered me for ages: Senna won the 1991 championship ahead of Nigel Mansell by a healthy margin of 24 points, which equates to 33% more points than Mansell. But what is the name of the official 1991 FIA season review? Answer: "Nearly Mansell!" Did the ...

So... a few nights ago I dreamt that the reason for Heinz-Harald Frentzen's successful 1999 season was that his Jordan had a special (but fully legal) fuel injection system. And that this fuel injection system was invented by Riccardo Patrese. In the dream I even went to Riccardo Patrese's page on w...

Re: Pat Symonds - to Debut with Williams at Spa

If I worked in F1 I would find comfort in knowing that even if I get involved in a scandal of some sort, I can always find work at Williams.

First Mike Coughlan (spygate) and now Pat Symonds (crashgate). I'm surprised they haven't hired Max Mosley yet. ;)

Woke up in the middle of last night and realised in horror that if it's 1989 and #24 it must be Luis Perez Sala's car and not Paolo Barilla's. My mistake! :)

I still want it, though... It's a Minardi!

Re: EJ11 For Sale

Being a long time Martini/Minardi fan, I would love the Minardi, but I wonder if that really is "Pierre Luigi-Martini's" [sic] car. He always drove car #23 for Minardi (well, almost always, but certainly in 1989), and the one being up for sale has #24. So it could be Luis Perez Sala's old ...

Re: One of the Great F1 Mysteries

* Here's another mystery. If Ferrari wanted an Italian driver in 1992, why in the merry hell didn't they take Modena instead of Capelli? What I've heard is that Ferrari didn't originally sign Ivan Capelli. I read an interview with Pierluigi Martini a few years ago (can't remember where, though), in...
