Historic Formula One Cars

I've been given the opportunity to travel and watch a private test of a historic McLaren tomorrow- needless to say that I'm fairly excited! In my little corner of Australia we don't see a lot of F1 machinery. Saying this the particular gentleman that owns this car has a wide variety of previously ra...

Re: The Totally Ripper/Bonza V8 Supercar Thread.

How in the blue hell is Taz Douglas 8th? Because Warren Luff/Daniel Gaunt/Cameron McConville/Nathan Pretty made LDM look worse than they really were. Douglas is actually a good driver. Not really. I know Taz quite well and he is a great guy, but in comparison to Warren Luff he is simply not as quic...

Re: 2012 Car Launches thread

I could be completely wrong here, but I'll point it out regardless. http://cdn.images.autosport.com/editorial/1328533676.jpg You can see in this image (Found on Autosport) that the nose is obviously 'stepped' up. But it looks to me that rather than being a somewhat smooth incline there is infact a '...

Re: The Dakar Rally thread

But whatever the reality, it is certainly a Chinese-branded vehicle, right? By the way, what's the best result any Chinese-branded vehicle has scored in international motorsport? Of course it is, I'm just being nit-picky! Very good question. I have no idea of the answer, but I would be beginning by...

Re: The Dakar Rally thread

Hum... I am not shocked at all. Most or all of Chinese manufacturing products are integral copies from something else. That doesn't mean the car is not Chinese. It means it is another cheap copy with Chinese labels on it. In this case a copy of an X3-CC. I think a more accurate way to put it is tha...

Re: The Dakar Rally thread

A Chinese car in the top-10?! I wouldn't quite be saying that a Chinese car is in the top 10, rather a Chinese bodied car is in there. The Great Wall has been built and developed by the X Raid Dakar team who have previously run the BMW X3-CC's and currently run the Mini Countryman's. It is believed...

Re: The Dakar Rally thread

Wow, Great Wall are taking part?! Where are they placed in the classification? You have Carlos Sousa placed 9th, 21.46 minutes behind Holowczyc and then you have Yong Zhou, provisionally 35th about 4 hours and 5 minutes behind. By the way, Fontana is driving a private Volkswagen. A Chinese car in t...

Re: The Christmas Thread '11-'12

I used to listen to indie rock all the time, until hipsters invaded the station I listened to, decided it was too mainstream and replaced it with stuff like this . I now listen to a lot of classic rock - currently listening to some 'Stones. I agree with you on the Dubstep - too much wub-wub-wub for...

The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing thread

Now, I'll be the first to say that I'm not a massive fan of NASCAR racing. I watch it occasionally but am no expert. But really, if you have a chance turn on the TV to see the season final that is happening at the moment. It is pretty epic. 9 laps to go, points are equal, Edwards and Stewart are run...

Re: The completely irrelevant-to-F1 MotoGP thread

I just read that the spectators threw bottles at the track to show their displeasure at the race being red flagged. How awful that 'fans' would do such a thing, as any red flag situation should be taken seriously. It cannot be condoned. In their defence Tom, I think the majority of the blame for th...

Re: Heidfeld will be replaced by Senna... ?

I'm delighted to see Bruno performing so well, the Senna name back at the sharp end of F1 is actually quite a poignment moment for me. I wish him well in the race tomorrow - 20 years ago another young hopeful lined up 7th at Spa... Just for that analogy I hope he finishes somewhere out of the point...
