Re: Your Reject of the Year - nominations

For me, while obviously there are massive problems in the sport, the award has to go to Caterham this year for embodying a true sense of rejectdom that hasn't been seen for many a year.

Re: Alcohol advertising ban?

Force India would be in more trouble than Williams I think. They have less chance of finding other backing. As Saward suggested, it's unlikely this is happening by coincidence, probably being pushed along by someone trying to further destabilise these teams. Of course by the logic of this ban, telec...

Re: 2014 Brazilian GP ROTR thread

Piquet was pretty awful with the interviews in 2012 too when he did them, shame they didn't give it to Emmo or someone else. I think for Bottas' 2nd stop, there was some debris stuck in the car so they were trying to remove it, so not sure if it was their fault really. Also, it wasn't the crew itsel...

Re: 2014 Brazilian Grand Prix (where Hamilton have bad luck)

Considering Bottas was quite secretive about the seatbelts issue after the race, saying that he couldn't talk about it, do we assume that they were loose for a few laps before his stop?

Re: 2014 Brazilian GP ROTR thread

He got a podium, so even I can't nominate him now, (even though I did before the race). He's been rubbish, but less rubbish than others I guess if we go by results (which we should). He did advocate the use of the softer tyres which either redeems or condemns him further depending on your point of ...

Re: 2014 Brazilian Grand Prix (where Hamilton have bad luck)

It would also suggest that the two Williams drivers are running a fairly low downforce package - it may help them if it is dry, but they could well regret that if it starts raining heavily in the race. Also might mean that they might get stuck behind the Mercedes and aren't able to overtake, which ...

Damn it, would have been superb for Massa to grab pole - would have made it interesting for the championship battle too. Considering Williams' speed, should make for an interesting race - just hopefully no rain for them!

Do the FIA really think people are so stupid that as soon as they see something from the past they'll forget about whatever other issues they had with the sport and suddenly ...

Re: 2015 Silly Season Thread

Hopefully Williams now have the resources to not need to give up Bottas or Massa's FP1s regularly in 2015.

Anyway, very happy for Nasr, think he has good potential, but never managed to put it all together in a whole season in GP2. Was quite a bit faster than Magnussen in the same team in British F3.

Although had he been faster than Ericsson in any session, it would have given Marcus the dubious honour of being outpaced in a session by 5 team-mates during the year. Makes sense to have a bit of (relative) experience in the team, plus Verstappen would know that Vergne is both a known quantity to judge himself against, and at the same time very unlikely to go ahead of him in the queue for a future Red Bull seat.

Re: 2014 US of A Grand Prix Discussion Thread

Think Ricciardo had a better relative drive than Vettel, whereas Seb was just passing cars he is faster than, Dan had to perfectly execute his strategy to jump the Williams (even if he did get some help from poor strategy), as well as make a crucial early move on Alonso. It reminds me of Massa vs Bo...

To be fair to Kimi, I strongly suspect that he was carrying damage from earlier in the race given that Perez rammed the back of his car - if that is the case, I'd be prepared to give him some leeway because of that. Re: 2014 Japanese Grand Prix + Couch Discussion Thread

Rosberg, Bottas and Massa were basically the only 3 cars with nothing to gain from the race starting, so that - combined with the terrible handling of the Williams in those conditions - would have led to Massa's comments in all likelihood. Same as his comments about the conditions later in the race.

Pretty sure somewhere in the terms and conditions of buying a ticket it says that anything you film is property of FOM.

I don't normally agree with them removing crowd footage (e.g. Fuji 2007) but in this case probably a good thing to take it down.

Re: 2014 Japanese Grand Prix + Couch Discussion Thread

Is there really such an issue with leaving a crashed F1 car? Surely the cars are designed to survive high-velocity crashes into each other , so it'd be a lesser of two evils to leave a car in the gravel rather than sending heavy machinery into the same area? Only downside I could see is if the spin...

Re: 2014 Japanese Grand Prix + Couch Discussion Thread

I could definitely see a safety changes made in wet races if there's a crash, as Brazil 2003 (twice) Europe 2007 and sadly now today have shown that it's very easy for multiple cars to aquaplane off in the same place, even under yellows. Just as Europe 2007, most of the field were on the wrong tyre...
