Re: Reject of the Race - Nevada 2023

Alpha Tauri, for being absolutely nowhere in pace all weekend.

Even though the race itself was surprisingly not rubbish, the FIA/organisers deserve one for the pure shambles before it.

That weekend was so bad for Alonso he went and signed up for another team. Aston Martin from 2023 onwards. Do you think the team knew about it beforehand? Can't imagine they wouldn't use team orders if Fernando was their lead driver for the future.

Re: Reject of the Race - Monaco 2022

The fact that we actually got a race out of this prompts me to not pillory the FIA. 1: Daniel Ricciardo: finished a whole one place higher than the position he started, when Norris finished in the top 6. Stick a fork in him, he's done. 2: HAAS: the only non-finishing team of this whole meet. 3: Asto...

Raikkonen and Tsunoda were pretty bad, but the stewards just take the prize here. If it's getting to the point when an opinion of Jeremy Clarkson makes sense, then you know there's a problem.

Let's explore something else: as of this point, I believe Hamilton has still not signed a deal for 2021 onwards with Mercedes. You can argue what the sticking points are, whether money, or the potential future of Russell within the team, or something else. Still, they'd have to ink out a deal fairly...

Begins and ends with Kvyat. That was just utterly boneheaded.

Given that the race was a bit boring, I'd have to say Toro Rosso gets the 2nd place position. One driver out of the points, one retired, and they're capable of more than that.

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/114525 This sounds pretty artificial and has no need to be in F1 in my eyes. At least it's a test. A case of everything old being new again? One thing about the bad TV direction is that this has been a problem for the last 15+ years. Well, if you want to do really heartbreaking moments, it would be David Purley trying and failing to save Roger Williamson's life at Zandvoort in 1973.

On a less morbid note, I would say Mansell's tyre blowing at Adelaide in '86 would count for his British fans (I'd imagine there are some).

I think it would be better if everyone was able to mix-and-match compounds. From watching F1 races in the 1980s, cars would have hard tires on some wheels and medium or softs on others. When was this practice stopped?

The current F1 cars aren't fast enough. No, really. 25 years ago, the cars were hitting 220 mph. They'd barely be able to crack 205-210 now, with KERS and DRS deployed. Too much aerodynamic drag, and too much turbulent air making it difficult to pass. Get rid of some of the stupidly complicated aero...
