Re: Reject of the Race - Hungary

1. Valtteri Bottas - complete schoolboy error; the kind you'd put money on your common garden variety of Tsunoda or Mazepin to make. Not only did he singlehandedly wipe out the entire opposition, he also destroyed the most exciting spectacle of the race by removing any hope of a fair fight at the f...

Re: Reject of the Race - Azerbaijan

2. Shared between Michael Masi and Pirelli - Those incidents clearly needed an instant safety car, it should have been a no-brainer, why the delay? Two almost identical tyre failures, causing pretty much the most dangerous kind of accidents. Fortunately everyone walked away and they didn't become mu...

Re: Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - Azerbaijan

2. Perez - Yeah he's in a Red Bull, but he drove a pretty faultless race, considering the great start, the slow pitstop that might have stopped him jumping Max, the hydraulics issue on the car, soaking up the endless pressure from Lewis and also the fact I would have put money on him binning the res...

2. Sergio Pérez - 4th from 9th is pretty much pulling a rabbit out of a hat at Monaco even with the Red Bull's pace advantage. He was fastest car on track for many laps before the pit stops and had really good race pace. 1. Sebastian Vettel - Solid pace, aggressive move against Gasly. Who would have...

2. Valtteri Bottas - In his mind he probably thought his actions made him look like a racy, edgy hard-ass who never gives in. In reality, it was pure stupidity and he had nothing at all to gain from impeding Lewis. In other circumstances, if Valtteri had an outside chance to fight to win, then fair...

Nominations probably as predictable as a DRS overtake:

2. Alpine - Decent race pace, decent points haul.

1. Schumacher - Made a nice little race of it

2. Aston Martin - Came away with a big fat zero points and both cars finished behind Giovinazzi

1. Kimi - Flying in the face of golden rules number one and two simultaneously; DO look where the flip you're going, and DON'T crash into your teammate.

1. Leclerc - from almost doing a Prost '91 on the formation lap to bringing it home very close to the podium with solid pace all race. 2. Stroll - I don't like the guy, but he brought home a strong result in a car that clearly wasn't all there, and kept out of trouble with a clean, under the radar d...

I'm gonna go for: 2. Latifi - should have paid more attention rejoining the action 1. Bottas - Inexplicably slow most of the weekend, qualified 8th and made no impression on the race pace wise, in a car that lewis put on pole and dragged up to second despite his off. And for getting involved in a me...

Re: Murray Walker (1923 - 2021)

Incredibly sad to hear this. Murray was the voice of F1 to me while growing up. I watched, recorded, and rewatched the 90s races so much that I could repeat many of his famous commentaries line for line by heart. His way with words, colourful metaphors, and unique delivery also richened my vocabular...

Re: 2017 Azerbaijan Grand Prix - ROTR Thread

Is it too late to make a shout? If not, I will go for: Vettel - it is one thing causing a collision through over-ambition, or hell, even pure recklesness, but regardless of the stimulus, driving alongside a rival and swerving into them, during safety car is unbelievably stupid. Would have laughed ha...

I know it's probably not fair to rant about drivers' personalities, but Jolyon Palmer really gets on my bloody nerves. If it is any consolation I had previously wondered about that crash for years afters seeing that book cover in a shop and not being able to work out what the incident was! My anonymous stint driver is still Max Papis in 1995 who I believe managed to damage his car against the pit wall before going o...

Verstappen - I know he complained all through qualifying too about no traction, but damaged car or not, he seemed to have binned it all by himself on a day where some chunky points could have been taken. I loved the purple Simtek, actually along with most cars from that era. I even like the pink livery of the 1992 Brabham, the thing I hate about that car is the nose cone, so car shape was the killer for me. What about these badboys: Helmet looks like Dalmas, so Estoril? https://encrypted-tbn0.gstati...

Re: Livery vs. Chassis

I take your point on the '98 car, the more images I looked at the more I found it appealing from certain angles, but then I also always thought the Rothmans livery looked either gorgeous or average depending on the angle of the shot. Yeah it gets a bash in because the red is 'not very Williams' but ...

Ah yes, i was thinking of that 1997 Tyrrell too, interesting looking car, but shockingly poor livery, also remember it having a Xena Warrior Princess logo on it at some point, just to make matters worse. Livery vs. Chassis

Hey all I have read many threads in many forums about beautiful or ugly F1 cars, but I can't remember a thread discussing if or when a car might have been a real work of art, spoiled by a crap livery, or when there was an eye-burning livery spoiling an otherwise nice looking car. What do you think? ...

Re: The "oh no ive crashed in the pitlane club"

As far as I remember, Max Papis brushed the pit lane exit at Silverstone in 1995 and ended up sailing into the gravel from the damage when he tried to turn into Becketts. Quick edit to say I seem to remember someone managed to collect some of the airlines used by the teams for the wheel guns, swipin...

Hope this one hasn't been done yet. What if Mika Salo had gone to Ferrari for 1996 instead of Irvine?

I was reading an old F1 Racing mag the other day and Salo claims Ferrari wanted him alongside Schumacher, but Ken Tyrrell wouldn't release him. Imagine the potential Mika vs Mika battles!
