Re: 2014 Silly Season Thread

What?

Hülkenberg is a good driver, and exciting to watch. He's far more impressive than the glass of milk and deserves a shot at a better team. Putting Ginsters in the Lotus is just asking for trouble. We basically only want that to happen f0r the lulz.

Even for Joe Kinnear, that cannot be true! Also, I'm glad Joe Hart was dropped. It's not like he'll suddenly be playing for Cheadle FC in the Manchester Sunday League. He's well out of form and deserves to be dropped. It will be a test of his own character whether he can apply himself more in traini...

Alain Prost was right to be calling off the Monegasque GP in 1984.

Not sure how unpopular this might be, but I know a lot of people who hark for the sentimental victory for a then rookie Senna in his plucky Toleman.

Watched the 1988 San Marinese Grand Prix the other day and Riccardo Patrese had a nightmare. Marched towards the back of the pack and finished 2 laps down in a Williams. Gerhard Berger didn't do much better either, but was fortunate enough to clamber on to 5th place.

Let's face it, Ferrari could do with Ross Brawn again. Especially when talking about someone having the 'final say'. The Scuderia have been known to get messed up in too many layers in the past. Gerhard Berger's win at the 1997 German Grand Prix was unusual in many ways. It was Berger's last win. It was Benetton's last win. Berger's first win was at Mexico 1986, the same race where he also took Benetton's first win. It was Benetton's only win as an Italian team. It was the first non-Ferrari...

And Piquet's last three or four victories were all fortuitous, when the cars in front decided to asplode or crash and gift him the victories.

Taking nothing away from him, of course. He was a great racer in his day. Deserved much better in 1988; that Lotus was abominable.

This year wasn't their worst year, I'll more than admit that, but Alonso consistently flatters mediocre machinery. If anything, the way that they casually elbowed Bruno aside for about a third of his allotted practise time to run Bottas instead suggests that they were aiming to replace him pretty much from the start, so if Williams want a driver out, they'll throw him out even if he does have backing. Following on from the Jordan suggestion, I think similar articles for Lotus and Benetton would be equally interesting.
