Re: RIP Henry Surtees

News of his death was confirmed very soon after I went to bed last night and am very sorry to learn of it. He had scored his best result in F2 just the day before by finishing 3rd. What makes it even more tragic in my mind was the number of other incidents in that race that they kept replaying on th...

Best wait for official news rather than speculate. Don't wish to make any mistakes about the situation. There was also another serious accident in a Seat Leon support race with a car barrell-rolling. I have only just got home from Brands Hatch and this is the first I've heard about the possible severity of the accident. All that I was aware of was that he had been taken to the medical centre and that they later had to safety-car the race to allow the medical helicopter to take off. However, we (...

OK, so just flicked through some season reviews on Wikipedia (1950-1970 as McLaren started winning 1 race per year in '68 and '69 and Frank Williams started entering cars in '69 but didn't win 'til '79) and guess what? There were a number of years before McLaren and Williams started winning when Fer...

Pretty much sums it up. As the article says, are FOTA in or out next year? Not even the FIA, who get to decide and are now a number of weeks beyond the entry deadline, can seem to decide who is competing next year. At this rate I will be losing interest. Le Mans 24 hours anyone? A lot of rejectdom t...

I propose the BTCC point system of 15-12-10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 to the top ten finishers - more than the 2 point difference between 1st and second there currently is, yet less than the 4 when Schumacher was dominating. I'm going to nominate Imola, post-1994 . While that weekend in may was terrible, the modifications took the soul out of the circuit.
