Terrible accident, and so sad that the unfortunate circumstances meant that a driver lost his life. I can't imagine what it must be like for those nearer to him, and of course for his friends, family , loved ones. Monza seems a bit soon and it'll be a bit empty on the F2 grid, but racing doesn't end...

Yes , sad news indeed. We fans owe a lot to these people who provide us with so much entertainment and interest, and these days even the premier non-F1 teams like DAMS do it all without any real hope of getting to F1 .

Wow .
I'm so old that as a kid looking at F1 stats I thought 1973 was a bit odd having only 3 teams winning races . But Surtees, Shadow and Brabham got onto the podium.

I really think this lack of variation in results underlies a lot of the dissatisfaction with F1.

I noticed Kubica didnt lose as much ground as he 'normally' does . And in the F2 , the strugglers were also more competitive . I found it interesting, but can't think why. May be a coincidence. I thought the F2 volume of action and racing at Silverstone would comfortably exceed the F1 ..but then the F1 delivered some real racing, with possibly even more mistakes . I looked at results and realized that Leclerc at Monaco is the only time this season that driver has retired due to single-car incident. I guess it all boils down to whether you'd prefer a series where the money is limitless and legal and anything goes, or a cap which at least in principle should bring the grid closer together, even if it does get abused behind the scenes. Personally, in this current climate I believe in the latter....
