Re: The 2017 Silly Season thread

My first thought is what a way to make the once closed silly season go nuclear. But it actually makes a lot of sense, Nico steps down when at his peak and Mercedes can recruit a driver that can/will be Hamiltons number 2. I think they would prefer that to the expense of buying out another top driver...

Re: What Tracks Will Get the Boot?

At least Canada now appears safe for next year:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/38076340

But if organisers are renegotiating/ending their deals, I wonder if F1 will drop back to 16-18 events? Its either that or accept lower rates - simple way to keep the fees up is reduce the bumber of F1 races available.

Another voice in support of Renault being a better long term bet - there was a lot of chortling and head scratching in 2013 when Hamilton moved from the then still multiple race-winning McLaren to one-win Mercedes. The strategy variances that were promised with the choice has just not happened - most races teams have by and large copie...

Right before they red flagged you couldn't see the pit exit from the camera at turn 1. That is too wet to race in. Not that pifling bit of dampness at the start of the British GP. I thought that too. A safety car to that is totally fine and understandable or even a delayed start to see if it improv...

This is a tough one as theres several claims that would normally be an easy ROTR in another race: 1st. Sauber/Nasr. I ummed hard with this and 2nd place but a team mate collision is a classic ROTR. Reason I am nominating this for the top is that although Ericsson made the move, Nasr was told a while...
