Re: Reject of the Race - Saudi Arabia 2023

I too was going to mention the DRS zone for being far too powerful but I think really it only applied to Red Bull - for other teams it was rather a struggle and just serving its purpose looking at the battles further down such as Magnussen on Tsunoda, the McLarens on Sargeant etc. It would have been...

Re: Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - Saudi Arabia 2023

Very slim pickings here but Magnussen getting an important point for Haas could prove important - especially now Alpine seem to have established themselves 5th in the pecking order. Also Checo - I expected Max to swallow him up once he got into 2nd after the SC that should never have been. We need C...

Re: Reject of the Race - Saudi Arabia 2023

Race Control for throwing the SC at anything is the obvious one but, Ferrari, McLaren and Jos Verstappen for having a face like a slapped arse at the end because his son's teammate had dared to win the race are all candidates for me. Think Bottas had some sort of car problem.

Gotta be Alonso - livened up what in all honesty was a pretty boring race at the front. And for once he's made a good team switch! :-)

HMs to Williams as a whole - well up there in midfield but especially great ddebut from Sargeant, and Gasly going from last to 9th (in contrast to his teammate).

I have worked out 1998 (thought of that year straight away as Big Zeddie is covering that season on YouTube) will be between Panis, Diniz, Nakano and Tuero. I think Nakano finished more races than the other 3 :-)

Yep, an unheralded legend. His most famous race is more well-known for the battle behind him, and his other win seems to have disappeared into the ether (1980 seems to have far less surviving footage than the 70s, then 1981 onwards).

I don't remember Trulli really doing anything either in '07 though so maybe it was just an all-round bad year for Toyota? I mean both Trulli and Glock got some podiums in their lasty 2 years, Glock would always be remembered for Brazil and they had a few forays near the front then!

Schumi/Latifi looked so amateurish it was pure reject gold so has to be that, but biggest DHM is Mercedes - back to earth with a bang for them.

And yes, I was hoping Max would help Checo more than he did but the counter-argument is 15 wins in a season, that might never be done again!

HMs - Alonso - beating both Red Bulls

K-Mag - OK he was never going to hold it but FRiday was brilliant.

Bottas - best non-works driver (if you count Alpine as a works team)
