Re: 2014 Pre-season Test Thread

In other words, could we see all Renault teams DNF in Melbourne or maybe even DNQ because of problems? At the moment, it seems that the Renault powered teams can at least set times that would see them make the 107% barrier though. If we assume that the cars are, based on current predictions, about ...

Re: 2014 Pre-season Test Thread

Red Bull finally getting some laps. Vettel went down to a 1:42, then to a 1:40.224 and apparently he had just set two personal best sectors when his car stopped.

Meanwhile Hulkenberg is top of the leaderboard at the moment, his 1:36.880 already better than last year's fastest lap of the race.

"Venezuela. Conocerla es tu destino" (Venezuela. Your destiny is knowing it/her). I wonder how appropriate that is giving the current circunstances in the country.

I believe the destiny thing wasn't it in the Williams last year, that's why I've noticed it.

Re: 2014 Pre-season Test Thread

Three hours gone at Bahrain - and no sight of a Red Bull yet. OTOH, Caterham have been completing the most laps of the Renault teams, although not at a very competitive pace. It's looking like Caterham's extremely big sidepods are paying off in terms of being able to refrigerate the engine and go ou...

Viewing figures also dropped between 2011 and 2012, in spite of 2011 being a VETTELWINSLOL and 2012 a closely fought contest. With one more race in 2012, you cannot even say that the drop was bigger in 2013 than in 2012. So, Bernie is looking for arguments to support his stupid double points idea wh...

Re: 2014 Pre-season Test Thread

Well, after day 3 early runnings we can say it is VERY bad for Renault and also for RB as the track time is low. Lotus may just have made the right decision not to go to testing with a crap engine and continue work on their chassis. I don't think they made that decision because they thought the eng...

I find strange that Michael has been kept in an induced coma for so long. It seems Harstein does, too, and his is a qualified opinion. Back at home now. Those last few minutes of running were the most intense of the day. It's telling that Red Bull, Williams and Force India decided that they were better off doing a few laps just after the rain had fell (it wasn't too wet, but still) instead of taking it safe. Pérez had a moment in t...

It's started to rain at Jerez. Now it's stopped, but with the track dump, no one is going to risk a crash in the remaining minutes, so this is the end of day one.

EDIT: As I was about to leave, Force India go out again!

And one installation lap for Red Bull.

And Pérez nearly spins!

I don't know if it's because of the color or what, but I quite like it. The nose has something that forces me to keep looking at it... it's different, and it doesn't have any "jumps".

Over three weeks in a coma is very bad news indeed. That's more than enough time for the injuries to heal and for the induced coma to be slowly retired.
