Re: If things were banned based on aesthetics...

EJ shirts along with Alain Prost's nose No Seriously probably all those extra aero parts that started springing up on F1 cars bodywork since c. 2000. Especially Honda's Dumbo wings in 2008. Yuck, I feel dirty just thinking about them! For me F1 cars should look sleek like they did between 1990 - 19...

If things were banned based on aesthetics...

All throughout F1 history, designers have come up with various ugly and ungainly looking devices to try and eke out an advantage over the competition. Many have been banned. Some should be or should have been banned. But to the best of my knowledge nothing's ever been banned, just purely on the grou...

Re: 1997 Lola For Sale!

If i'd win in lotto, I'd just spend my money around to be known as a person that gets into every single GP. Maybe pay the norwegian TV-channel that broadcasts F1 to send me down as a reporter! If I remember correctly on the F1 Rejects twitter feed, there was a tweet some time ago that said Sakon Ya...

Definitely agree with that. The S921 could've possibly qualified in the lower midfield if it were being run by a different team!

Re: Ridiculous Excuses

It wasn't really that bad though, he was only a couple tenths off Schumacher in qualifying and 30 seconds down the road at race end, with Fisichella's Renault in between them. I don't really see the need for an excuse there. It wasn't a great race but it wasn't terrible either. Very true. And if it...

Re: David Hobbs = F1 Reject

I don't know if the site covers commentators or not, but he does qualify. Shame, since he would have scored points in today's ranking. He was sucessful in other motorsports too. Two third places at Le Mans, was champion in the U.S. F5000 series in 1971, and won the Trans-Am championship in 1983. So...

Re: Ridiculous Excuses

Simliarly I found the excuses Barrichello's made on Top Gear about how he didn't really know he was the no.2 at Ferrari until Austria 2002 etc, very weak indeed. I mean ever since he joined Ferrari in 2000 they made him wear a red cap with a big no. 2 on it. It seemed Ferrari wanted to remind him o...

I daresay that would be one helluva S2000. Would the body architecture actually be able to withstand that much power? For sure you'd have to get racing specification drivetrain components. And it would be one of the most monstrous of its kind.

Re: Favourite Reject Driver and Team

Favourite constructor: For me it's Simtek because the S941 and S951 were quite attractive in their design, overall if they hadn't folded so early in 1995, they would have fared better than Pacific despite also having to resort to hiring pay drivers and suffering more setbacks than Alain Prost (as a ...

Congratulations! I will definitely be looking out for these two come 2037. They're looking to be more of a dynamic driving duo than the Schumacher brothers were! :)

So, if I got this right - which I probably didn't - McLaren doesn't have the lowered nose because their car is generally lower. If that's the case, won't they run into problems on tracks requiring high ride height, such as Singapore? The answer to your question lies here: http://www.formula1.com/ne...

Re: F-1 World Grand Prix (N64)

I remember trying to redo Olivier Panis' 96 win, but the rainy conditions caused a red flag everytime in the first few laps. Another hilarious Monaco in the wet story sees me as Ralf Schumacher doing a 50 % distance. Cars dropped like the flies - although it's more spread out, i.e. no red flag - an...

I don't know what sport you've been watching until now but that's just another day in the office by F1 standards. I can remember this kind of thing happening every year for the two decades I've watched this sport. I even remember teams grumbling about Williams' interpretation of the high cockpit si...

Re: Trouble at Ferrari, and all teams not named Red Bull...

Because thats what F1s about. Maybe. What I do know for sure is that this years testing season's been particularly frustrating for me to read about because ever since before the cars arrived at Jerez, teams were whinging about how clever some of their rivals were with exhaust positioning. And inste...

Re: Eifelland article

Wasn't it concerns of a similar nature that led to the banning of similar devices used by Arrows and Jordan at the 2001 Monaco GP? I was under the impression that it was more about forward visibility problems, but the safety grounds seems plausible. The most definitive answer to this question accor...

Nice. I remember winning one of my first WDC's with that car as well, it was definitely one of the better handling cars on that game. And for sure all the F1 games on PS2 are infinitely better, but being in North America as far as I know there was pretty much just Formula One 2001, 2002 and the EA S...

Great read. That bit at the end about John Watson was quite interesting. It also makes me wonder whether Colani ever gave any thought to what would happen if that periscope ever came detached and struck the driver or a car behind. Re: 2011 German GP review

It's interesting that the only thing that wasn't identical about Vettel's and Schumacher's spins is that Schumi was actually able to attempt to control it...guess it goes to show that while his experience may not be enabling him to extract the maximum from his car, it's still good for something....
