Manufacturers and entrants may now begin to plan for the upcoming season. You have exactly one week to at least show your interest in returning for 1954 or not. Should you not make your presence known, your assets will be repossessed by the FIA, the cars auctioned and the profits as well as all money added to the post-season prize pot.

Any new manufacturers or privateers may also enter at any time. Any member from 1953 that fails to meet the deadline may also enter later but as a new outfit.

Re: F1WRCR 1954 season - Pre-season

Post by pi314159 »

OSCA will design a new chassis, the O.S.C.A. F154, for 100 000 british pound, and a new engine, the supercharged 1.5 L O.S.C.A. 156s for 60 000.

Since they earned us a lot of prize money last year, and because they were our first customer, Ultimate have the offer to buy these for the building price. For other customers, the F154 will be available for 32 500 pound, and the 156s for 17 500 pound.

If you want something cheaper, I suggest you to look at this:

O.S.C.A. Automobili will enter a works team again, running an F154 with a 156s engine for all rounds apart from Sebring with Taruffi driving. A second works car for Simon depends on how much money is generated by selling customer cars.

Maria Teresa de Filippis will purchase a complete O.S.C.A. package (F154 chassis + 156s engine), which will be entered for all rounds of the championship, apart from Sebring.

Alright.

1.) I will continue to run Mercedes-Benz Team Europe in 1954.

2.) We sign, as previously announced, Bernie Ecclestone together with new signee Willi Heeks and Johnny Claes as drivers. Should pycku object to Claes moving up to the works team, Bill Vukovich will take his place.

3.) We will repair Mercedes UM153 engine 13 as well as Phoenix's Mercedes-Benz UM153 engine 7. That will cost us £20,257.

4.) We commision the build of Mercedes UM153 engines 14 and 15. That will cost us £30,000 ... I think.

5.) We will scrap Mercedes WM-1 chassis 2, Mercedes WM-1 chassis 3 and Mercedes WM-1 chassis 4. That will earn us £4,500.

6.) We will gift Mercedes WM-1 chassis 1 to Cliff Bergere.

7.) We design a new chassis, designation Mercedes WM-2, in the 100,000 range and build five versions of it. That will cost us £225,000.

8.) We will enter all races, except the United States Grand Prix:
Willi Heeks (Mercedes-Benz Team Europe) - Mercedes WM-2 chassis 1, Mercedes UM153 engine 1
Bernie Ecclestone (Mercedes-Benz Team Europe) - Mercedes WM-2 chassis 2, Mercedes UM153 engine 2
Johnny Clase (Mercedes-Benz Team Europe) - Mercedes WM-2 chassis 3, Mercedes UM153 engine 15

9.) Cliff Bergere will enter the United States Grand Prix:
Cliff Bergere (Cliff Bergere) - Mercedes WM-1 chassis 1, TBA

10.) ... there is no 10, really. I hope everything's good as it is.

Bentley have had a mixed second season in Formula One. As such, we will be withdrawing from entering our own factory team ourselves. We are looking for a suitable partner to run the Bentley factory team for us.

At Bentley, every customer is as valued to us as a Sunday Roast, or an afternoon's clay pigeon shooting. To reflect this, we ask all existing Bentley customers to return their old equipment to us, and we'll give you a discount on any of our new products for 1954! Fantastic, wouldn't you agree?

British Bentley Racing Motors Catalogue

Bentley Speed-3 - This fabulous chassis was the choice of many a privateer during the 1953 season, and was utilised by the Bentley works team themselves.
- Used 1953 chassis: 3 for sale, pending announcements, discounted price of £10,000
- New chassis built on command: £22,000

Bentley 53C - This cheap as chips chassis was used by both the Bentley factory squad and the privateer Aqua team in 1953. A chance of Formula One, as cheap as you'd like.

- New chassis built on command: Discounted price of £10,000

Bentley 163-1 - Our pioneering V16 engine that powered all Bentley works entries in 1953, alongside independent entries, notably scoring a point with the Hampshire Racing Alliance. A reliable engine at an affordable price, it won't let you down.
- Used 1953 engines: 4 for sale, pending announcements, discounted price of £12,000
- New engine built on command: Discounted price of £17,000

Bentley 84-1 - A new, cheap as chips engine for privateers and gentleman looking to experience Formula One.
- New engine built on command: £4,000. Discounted price of £2,000 if bought alongside a Bentley chassis.

Tommykl:
Bentley 84-1 // Design costs: 7 500

Question time:
-Bentley, what exactly is the reduction you can give if i trade in the old car for a brand new one? Also, again we offer you the services of Pilette for the Belgian GP + that he will be your official back-up driver for the whole season.
-Jaguar-Aston Martin: can you offer a similar deal to the Bentley one?
-Maserati: are you planning on keeping Frère?

Drivers are TBA, i think i'll enter on race-to-race basis. Drivers under contract are Pilette, Frère (out on loan, to be extended), Swaters, Gendebien, G.Berger, Laurent and Milhoux.
I don't know what i want and i want it now!

It depends on what you are looking for. A trade-in of the old Speed-3 chassis will net you a newly-built Speed 3 for the 1950 price - £20,000. However, it'll also buy you a new Speed-4 chassis for £27,500 PLUS a new 84-1 chassis for just £1,000.

The RRAC are returning for this season and Mercedes have offered us 3 free engines! We would also like to run the used Bentley 53C chassis for this season if pasta agrees.

As for drivers, Duncan Hamilton is contracted for this season and we would like to run a used Speed 3 chassis for Bill Vukovich for Sebring if the funds allow.

Indeed, Mercedes will ship out engines Mercedes UM153 engine 12 and Mercedes UM153 engine 13 to RRAC at once at our own expense. The third engine will be delivered as soon as RRAC needs it.

I want to trade the full 83 package (speed-3 + 163-1) with the full 84 package (Speed 4 + 16VL-1), how much difference in cost would that make from simply buying a new car? Considering the chassis i already own is of good quality, it's not necessairy for me to buy a new one in 1954 yet. So there's got to be some benefit for me when i'm trading it with a brand new car. Like for example the proposal with Pilette, run him as works driver in the Belgian GP and make him your official reserve driver.

I'd say stick with the old chassis for the foreseeable future, and just upgrade it over time. I mean, why change a winning formula now? As for Fangio, I have no idea what he's up to now.

Now, onto our Jaguar itself. Firstly, we will repair engine 11 and leave it in storage for sale or lease. Secondly, we will send engine 10 to Asso di Fiori for $15 000 (the cost of production), and request that Aston Martin build AM-04 chassis 08 and send it to Asso di Fiori for $25 000 (again, the cost of production). As our new second works team, Jaguar will provide the same service to Asso di Fiore as we do to the works JAMR operation, but on the condition that Dries van der Lof and Luigi Villirosi be made available to JAMR when required. Next, we'd like to build JAMR engines 14 and 15, both of which will be made available for customers to purchase or lease. Lastly, we'd like our 17.5% cut of race prize money from Aston Martin covering all races from Reims to Sebring of last year, totaling an amount of $54 257.

Finally, for existing and new customers, the Jaguar engine program is structured as such:

    - A new engine will cost £25 000 from the factory, and £20 000 when bought in conjunction with a chassis from Aston Martin.
    - A new engine can also be leased for £3 000 per event, which will then be taken out of the purchase price of the engine should same customer wish to buy the same engine later on.
    - All Jaguar engines that have been bought outright come with our comprehensive repair packages.
    - Our repair package on purchased engines will cover all repairs up to a value of £1 500, and 50% of all repairs above that amount afterwards.
    - All repairs on leased engines will be carried out by Jaguar.
    - Should a customer engine bought outright be deemed economically unviable to repair, the customer team can acquire a new engine at cost of production. This only applies when the previous engine has been damaged beyond economical repair. In all other circumstances of engine changes, customers are to pay the full purchase price.
    - Should a leased engine be deemed economically unviable to repair, that engine will be taken out of service and replaced with a new one immediately. The leasing payments continue as stipulated, but all existing payments for the previous engine will be taken off the eventual purchase price of the new engine.
    - All destroyed engines are to be returned to the Jaguar factory immediately, no questions asked. Jaguar will pay shipping costs for them.
    - Customer teams that own their engines can upgrade them at any time.
    - Jaguar will contribute £2 000 for a regular upgrade, and £4 000 a double upgrade, and all upgrades can be done at the Jaguar facility.
    - Leased engines will be upgraded periodically by Jaguar, free of charge. However, it is our discretion as to when they get upgraded.

OK, first things first, Ferrari will repair the damaged chassis. We will then upgrade all of our 555s, including Ferrari America's if they want it (for the grand sum of nothing :D )

And now, the important bit!
Ferrari will offer a choice of two chassis and two engines for 1954:

The Ferrari 550 is our entry level model, campaigned in 1953 by Ferrari America. A 550 chassis will cost £22,000, and a 550 will cost £10,000, the same as for 1953. Purchasing a complete 550 combo will, however, only cost you £29,500.
The Ferrari 555 is Ferrari's top machine that propelled Reg Parnell to victory at Monaco and Juan Manuel Fangio to the top step in Britain. The Scuderia will use these chassis again in 1954, so purchasing a 555 package ensures you will have the same race winning machinery. Buying a 555 chassis will cost £30,000, and a 555 engine will cost £20,000. The complete package will only cost £42,500.
As an added bonus, buying two complete 550s will allow you the option of purchasing a complete 555 for a mere £29,500.

Ferrari will also offer a top notch repair program for our engines. For repairs less than £7,500 (for a 555) or £4,500 (for a 550), Ferrari will pay the entire repair cost. For more expensive repairs, we will cover half the cost. If the cost of the repair is more than £15,000 (for a 555) or £9,375 (for a 550), Ferrari will build a new engine and send it to you for those respective prices.

And finally, we come to Ferrari's upgrade package. Simply pay half the cost of upgrading your car and/or engine, and Ferrari will pay the rest and up to £2,500 in transport to Maranello to upgrade your car.

Ferrari will do our best to provide machines to help your team perform at its best. Buy your Ferrari 555 or Ferrari 550 now before stock runs out! Leasing options are available, the conditions of which will be determined on a case by case basis.

The Bardahl Oil Company would like to lease two Ferrari 555s for the 1954 United States Grand Prix, to be driven by (future) 1954 Indianapolis 500 winner Bill Vukovich and (future) 1954 AAA champion Jimmy Bryan.

Ferrari will loan Bardahl two 555s for £3000 each. The Scuderia will also pay £4000 per car for travel costs from Maranello to Sebring for the race. This also means Ferrari will have to build two more 555s.

Also, to clarify what Ferrari leasing deals will be like, we will charge a base price per car per race, with discounts for longer deals. Teams may also request minor assistance with travel costs if the car must travel a large distance.

First all, Alfa will repair the damaged engine. Then it will upgrade all chassis, engines and test them. Alfa will also review prices for this season:

AR160, £35 000 per unit (the purchase of 2 chassis is £60 000)
ARV8, £20 000 (the purchase of 2 engines is £35 000)

Finally Alfa will maintain their drivers for next season and will go to all races.

Leader will repair the chassis. We are willing to go to every single race (as far as budget allows it). We are looking for a new engine, too. But this is a subject of negotiations.
The Mercedes-Benz UM153 engine 6 is for sale at the price of 10,000.
We are offering also our chassis at a price of 17,500 per car.

Balkan Eagle: We will keep our cars, but will change the engine, too. We are planning to invest 60k in our own engine called Balkan Lion F154. We will produce 3 engines for our cars and will sell the engine at a price of 19,000 per item.
All our Maserati engines are for sale at a price of 5k per item.

Balkan Eagle is also going to participate in all races (as far as budget allows it).

The OSCA 156s is the cheapest of the top tier (60 000 development cost) engines designed in 1954. It is available for just 17 500. If you're looking for a cheaper engine, you could look at our offers for used engines from 1953.

Ok,
if it's possible i would like to enter as an manufacturer which only produces it's own Chassis and buy engines from other manufacturers.

Team Name: Loyer Racing
Base: Vienna, Austria

everything else will be decided once i know how much money we'll have.
I'll give further information on my team if requested.

OK, here is a short backstory for Loyer Racing:
Karl Loyer, team founder and owner, came back to austria in 1951 after staying in the USA during the 2. WW. He made quite some money there by selling used cars and repair some of them. Before the war he was a close friend of Ferdinand Porsche, the founder of Porsche, and his son Ferry.
During 1953 he signed a contract with Ferry Porsche which includes the designing of an Grand Prix engine but unfortunaly Porsche said it won't be finished until the start of the 1954 season.
On the chassis side, Mr. Loyer built up a team of talented engineers including Josef Mickel, an aerodynamicist who was involved in the construction of the Auto Union Typ D. He will be the chief designer of the new car.

Ok, than let's have a go:
Loyer Racing will design a new chassis investing 100 000 and name it the LR 101. We also will built 2 of them for the beginning.
With regard to engines:
We would like to buy 2 Ferrari 555 engines.
Drivers: will be announced at a later date. We would like to enter all events with car 1 and depending on the budget also with car 2.

The LR 101 will also be available for purchase for just 30 000. If you buy 2 of them for a combined total of 55 000.

André Simon moves from O.S.C.A. to Mercedes for 35 000. From that money, I'd like to build a second works O.S.C.A. (F156 chassis + 156s engine). As our second works driver, I'd like to ask Jaguar-Aston Martin Racing if Gonzalez is available. Failing that, I'd like to offer the seat to Stan Jones.

Remember that ENB is the single most prestigious privateer team in the paddock! Representing a nation known for its innovative character.

If anyone makes a case to run a good works Bentley squad, then we will insist Pilette to have a seat. As for the price, trading in your old equipment for new will ensure that you are in the best position for the new season! As ENB are a special customer, we can offer you the Speed 4 for just £27,0000 and the 16VL-1 for just £20,500.

Alright, Phoenix Racing Organisation will retain Alberto Ascari as its main driver, and we'll build a brand new PRO-2 chassis for 100.000. The original PRO-1 chassis is for sale if anyone wants to purchase it.

We also want to enter all races in the calendar.

For the first event, Loyer would like to start with the LR 101 chassis 1 and the Ferrari 555 engine 8 as one car, chassis 2 and engine 9 as the other car.
As drivers we would like to sign: Karl Kling for the first car and Luigi Musso for the second car, if they are available.

We are going to keep AM53 for the next season, with both chassis and engines upgraded. There are plans to build a new car minding 1955

We are going to keep Paul Frere as our driver (if ENB wishes so) and we are going to hire Juan Manuel Fangio (provided he isn`t under a contract). If not, the best free agent available should be hired

Alright, then we'll do this. Still quite expensive, so your better make the car worth it!
This will mean i will not be able to buy a new Jaguar-Aston, so i'll go for the option of repairing the existing old car.
I don't know what i want and i want it now!

The Redman Racing Team will buy a new combined Maserati AM53/200F package, and will use that for all our races this year, instead of chassis 5 & engine 6.

Jaguar-Aston Martin Racing will like to announce our formal intention to sign Juan Manuel Fangio for the 1954 season. Failing that, Gonzalez will be retained alongside our three incumbents of Bettenhausen, Bira and Trintignant.

Erne would like to enquire about the possibility of selling their current, undamaged 200F chassis and AM53 engine back to Maserati, and purchasing something a bit more up-to-speed. If Maserati don't want to buy back their machinery, we'll scrap it. Once more, we'll run Roberto Mieres, and possibly run a second car for Onofre Marimon if he has indeed been dropped by whichever team ran him last season (I can't remember if he was dropped or if I dreamt it :P )

I'll agree to that. :)

Now, how much damage has been done to the #1 Aston chassis so far? And what have I upgraded so far?
