2019-20 Formula 5000 Season - Round 11 Up
Hello and welcome to another season of Formula 5000, Australia's home-grown open wheel series, now with 20% more Mad Uncle and 100% more "gp4.exe has stopped working" for your racing enjoyment.
Teams
There will be a maximum of 22 cars at any given race weekend. Entries will be made up of a to-be-determined number of teams, but will include four works teams, which are as follows:
Ford - Prodrive Racing Australia (#5 and #6)
Holden - Triple 8 Race Engineering (#88 and #888)
Nissan - Kelly Racing (#7 and #15)
Mercedes - Erebus Motorsport (#4 and #9)
Each works team can field a maximum of two full-time cars, of which one will be fully funded by their respective manufacturer (more on that later). To apply to run a works team, simply state your intentions to run one of them.
Users can also enter privateer teams consisting of one or two cars, provided that they find funding for them in the sponsorship phase. Teams can enter either full-time cars that'll run the full schedule, or part-time cars that run a maximum of 9 rounds. Privateer teams will have the choice of 5 engine suppliers; Ford, Holden, Nissan, Mercedes and Toyota. Teams MUST be based in Australia or New Zealand.
An example entry form for a privateer team is provided below:
Team Name: Colin Pryce Racing
Team Base: Gold Coast, Australia
Number of full-time cars: 1
Number of part-time cars: 1
Car numbers: #23, #24
Engine Supplier: Toyota
Sponsorship
Inspired by the system used by Indy Lights (Read: Completely ripped-off from), sponsors will be featured in F5K this season.
Sponsors are not guaranteed; there is an RNG for each and every one, and there's a chance you could end up short on budget for the year and have to miss a few races. Sponsors are on a per car, not a per-team basis, and sponsors have different levels of funding and requirements to be met. There are also pay-drivers who can cover a certain number of races in the season on their own.
Sponsors will fund you for the stated number of races (some will change their investment if you meet or fail certain conditions), and to run all rounds of the season, you have to make sure you have enough sponsorship for all rounds for that car.
As for pay-drivers, some can pay for the entire season in one go, some only have enough money for part of the season. You can keep them for the rest of the season they don't have money to pay for if you secure a sponsor for the other races. Or you can opt to sign someone else, perhaps because the other sponsor you were able to get demands as much!
Below is the list of sponsors available to sign, and any requirements that need to be met to keep them onboard. Pay-drivers are also listed on the second sheet, and more pay-drivers will be added over the course of the signup process.

I would like to formally apply to run Triple 8. Failing that, I might try to have a privateer entry as a plan B

I guess I'll join the bandwagon of applying to run Triple 8. I'll run my normal F5000 entry if I don't get it though.
Privateer Entry in case I don't get Triple 8 (which knowing me will probably be the case):
Team Name: Leketus Motorsport
Team Base: Sydney, Australia
Number of full-time cars: 1
Number of part-time cars: 1 (TBC)
Car numbers: #13, #49 (TBC)
Engine Supplier: Holden

Re: 2019-20 Formula 5000 Season - Sign Ups Open
After much deliberation, the works teams have been allocated as such:
Prodrive Racing Australia - MinardiFan95
Triple Eight Race Engineering - Normal32
Kelly Racing - Dexter249
Erebus Motorsport - John Rafael
Now it's time for the fun part. Like Indy Lights, you will need to sign sponsors to make up your quota of 18 races for a full-time car, or 9 races for a part-time car. There will be two sponsor signing phases: One now, and one after round 4.
Teams may sign up to 5 sponsors per full-time car, and 3 per part-time car in this first phase. Teams may also make a bid for up to three pay-drivers per full-time car, and 2 pay-drivers per part-time car. Pay-drivers may be added to the list on request, provided they get through the Mad Uncle vetting process.
A few pointers before signings can commence that all team owners should read:
- Each sponsor will back only one car per season, for the allotted time. Once they've been picked, they're gone for the year.
- You cannot move sponsors between cars of your own volition. However, if after the pre-season RNG, you have sponsors signed for both cars, but less than 4 for each car, the sponsor of your second car will automatically be moved across to your primary entry to ensure it runs.
- If you fire a pay-driver or any driver specifically requested by a sponsor, you lose their sponsorship immediately.
- You can sign multiple sponsors from the same industry sector for your entire team's lineup, but signing chances will be affected depending on whether these sponsors are complementary, or competition to each other.
- If you sign a sponsor, then fail to meet their demands from the outset, your entry for that car will be withdrawn, and you will not get a chance to find another sponsor. The only exception is if you have signed a fictional driver, and their DEC holder announces said driver is leaving the team against his contract.
Do not make requests for real-life drivers now. They will not be added to the RNG queue if you request their services before regular driver signings is open. You do not need to request a driver who comes as a mandatory choice for a sponsor you obtain - an RNG will be run for them automatically after you are confirmed as signing their sponsor. Bear in mind they may say no however, and if you don't have any backup choice behind that sponsor, you will have no sponsor at all.
Here is the List, and here is the signing form below:
A deadline will be announced in due course

Just curious, would we be able to get sponsors not on that list? Because for my last two seasons of running this team I've had my own sponsor for the team (LM Auto Parts) and I would like to keep that sponsor for my car/s.
I would also assume the sponsor conditions from hiring someone who raced in V8 Supercars (for example) the stats would be taken from real results since we don't have a V8 Supercar series equivalent for the canon at the time being.

You can have LM Auto Parts as an associate sponsor on your livery, but they won't contribute anything to your budget.
And yes, as long as there's not a canon series for it, just go off RL results.

Re: 2019-20 Formula 5000 Season - Sign Ups Open
With just over 24 hours before the deadline, the following teams have yet to post sponsor plans:
#7 Kelly Racing
#15 Kelly Racing
#8 Edgell Performance Racing
Any other prospective entrants will need to post sponsor plans before the deadline, otherwise they will not be competing in the opening four weekends of the season.

For those who haven't made full quotas on cars, you can either sign paydrivers to make up quota, or wait until round 4 when the second round of sponsor signings will take place. This round will include existing open sponsors, as well as a few extra sponsors. If you do well in the first four races, some sponsors might be open to extending contracts.
Liveries can now be painted for existing cars. The template can be found here: You will need to use the 2005 GP2 template. All liveries should use the full-car template, and need to be sent in TGA format.
Finally, driver signings are now open. The form can be found below:
Please take notice of sponsor criteria and existing clashes when signing drivers.
