Connaught will seek with OSCA for a year old car and engine to be entered at the Glover Trophy with Archie Scott Brown behind the wheel. If so, which car and engine would I be entering?

O.S.C.A. will build another F158 chassis and 1558 engine, which will be leased to SCS for free for the entire season.

O.S.C.A. will also rent F156A chassis 6 and O.S.C.A. 1557 engine 6 to Connaught. The fee will be 4k per race for the combination. They can use the car for free for the NC race.

We also inquire whether contracts offered to several drivers have been lost in the post.
We would also like to inquire how much Reg Parnell would like so we can buy a Cooper Climax combination from the

One full cooper T41 + climax engine in return of a T45 in an ideal world. If you can confirm that the T45 chassis is significantly better than the T41 (you can ask for values at Tommy), then you get an Osca (chassis only) on top of it.

Cooper will build an new T45 and give it to Reg Parnell in exchange for a T41 and Climax Engine. With regards to whether the T45 is better then the T41 it is i was there when the chassis numbers were run its in the top 5 of chassis.

With that, Connaught will enter another driver for both NC races using this setup:

Archie-Scott Brown - F156A chassis 6 - O.S.C.A. 1557 engine 6

38 - Allison joins Hawthorn and McLaren at Cooper.

B. Bira
1-30: carries on another year in the sport with Cooper.
31-100: takes a well-deserved retirement.
32 - the double world champion thinks long and hard about it, but makes the decision to retire from the sport at the age of 43.

Luigi Musso
1-75: agrees to drive for the British Cooper team.
76-100: waits for offers from Italian teams.
12 - Musso finally signs for a potentially front-running team.

Mario de Araujo Cabral

6-100: takes the year to establish himself on the Brazilian scene before jumping to Europe in 1959.
93 - Fritz d'Orey may only be 20 and impetuous, but even he knows he shouldn't begin his career with F1.

André Pilette
1-60: desperately stays in F1 by accepting the Bachot drive.
61-100: focuses on his other commitments and takes time off Formula 1.
66 - Pilette is the third driver to reject an offer from Guillon Bachot, leaving them without a driver.

Keith Ballisat
1-60: accepts an early F1 drive with DB just as he gears up for a first Formula 2 campaign.

Berardo Taraschi
1-80: piles on for another year with DB.
81-100: jumps ship after a season with the team.
83 - 1957 was one season too many for Taraschi, who leaves the French squad behind.

Robert La Caze
1-75: accepts a drive for his home race with DB.
76-100: waits for a drive with a car that's not 5 years old.
13 - La Caze jumps on the opportunity to compete in a Grand Prix, joining André Guelfi in the paddock.

The DB Owner's club, an automobile club established for owners of DBs to meet and engage in DB-related activities with like-minded people, have that it will be competing in Formula One for 1958 under the DB Owner's Club banner. Administratively based in Tours, Centre-Val de Loire, France, the Club has partnered with a local mechanic in order to base the team in the city. The Club has some F1 drivers as well as wealthy private members on it's books, who have agreed to lend some of their own funds to the Club so they can attend races. The Club plans to enter the European season only with it's members.

A local newspaper from Send wrote:
It has been reported by one of the fellow engineers of the notorious Formula One team Connaught-McAllpine that they have been approaching part time race driver / team owner Bernie Ecclestone with a bid for him to buy out the team. It was also stated the reason was that it want to secure a long-term relationship with someone they would trust which would hopefully turn their fortunes around such as moving up the field and increasing their chances of scoring poins and also to extend their future in the long years to come.

5. Juan Manuel Fangio (O.S.C.A.) - 1:46.04
6. Archie Scott Brown (O.S.C.A.) - 1:48.20
7. Stuart Lewis-Evans (O.S.C.A.) - 1:48.43
8. Troy Ruttman (Lotus-O.S.C.A.) - 1:49.51
9. Maria Teresa de Filippis (O.S.C.A.-BRM) - 1:50.22

15. Rob Slotemaker (Guidobaldi-Mercedes) - 2:02.01

Ferrari are finally back! Onofre Marimón storms to pole position, with a close fight between the new O.S.C.A., updated B.C.M.A. and new Lotus behind. Marimón's brilliant lap aside, this bodes well for an exciting season. Connaught have shown a noticeable improvement with the ditching of the Type B, while the new Hernandez's potential hasn't yet been unlocked, thanks to a litany of small errors by Gálvez. The race promises to be tight, at least for second place!

January 19th 1958, Argentine Grand Prix

As the Argentine flag was waved to start the race, Surtees, Marimón and Fangio jumped into a battle for the lead, with Surtees leading the first lap. On lap 4, Ivor Bueb's BRM engine expired, and the resulting smoke blinded Joe Flynn, who rear-ended Troy Ruttman. The American was left on the side of the track, fuming, while the Irishman continued on. The race was further reduced to 12 participants, when Stuart Lewis-Evans retired from fifth place with three missing gears. By the tenth lap, Marimón and Fangio were knocking on Surtees' door, but the young Brit had no problem making his car as wide as the track itself. This allowed Fangio to pass Marimón for second place on lap 11, and the Argentine veteran found a hole in Surtees' defense to take the lead on the 13th lap.

As Fangio pulled away into the lead, Marimón found himself unable to find the pace to attack Surtees. Behind the top three, Flynn was catching the fast-starting Maria Teresa de Filippis for fourth place, while González was floundering in the lower reached of the top ten and Ramos was struggling to recover from a terrible start. Even further back, Oscar Gálvez pulled into the pits on lap 22 complaining of steering issues. They had obviously been affecting him the whole race, as he had been in last place for a while. His compatriot González did the same shortly after, with an oil leak.

The race settled down quickly, with most drivers operating at a steady pace. Shortly after the race's halfway point, Rob Slotemaker's Guidobaldi suffered from a gearbox failure. He was already five laps behind the leaders. Nasif Estéfano joined him a lap later with an electrical failure. The order remained frozen, with Fangio ahead of Surtees, Marimón, Flynn, de Filippis, Scott Brown, Ramos and Herrmann, until lap 52 when Ramos suffered a puncture and was forced to retire from the race. Only 7 cars remained in the race.

On lap 57, the first overtake in a while happened as Archie Scott Brown took fifth place. A lap later, this became fourth place as John Surtees had to pull into the pits with a gearbox failure, ending a splendid début race. This left Fangio alone to win his home race unchallenged, with Marimón completing an Argentine 1-2. Joe Flynn performed terrifically to produce a podium for BRM, ahead of Scott Brown and de Filippis. John Surtees completed enough laps to be classified in sixth place, ahead of Hans Herrmann.

1. Juan Manuel Fangio (O.S.C.A.) 1:51:38.96
2. Onofre Marimón (Ferrari) +2 laps
3. Joe Flynn (BRM) +4 laps
4. Archie Scott Brown (O.S.C.A.) +5 laps
5. Maria Teresa de Filippis (O.S.C.A.-BRM) +5 laps
6. John Surtees (B.C.M.A.) +7 laps/Gearbox
7. Hans Herrmann (B.C.M.A.) +8 laps
Ret. Hernando da Silva Ramos (O.S.C.A.) +19 laps/Puncture
Ret. Nasif Estéfano (O.S.C.A.-BRM) +31 laps/Electrical
Ret. Rob Slotemaker (Guidobaldi-Mercedes) +35 laps/Gearbox
Ret. José Froilán González (Lotus-O.S.C.A.) +42 laps/Oil leak
Ret. Oscar Gálvez (Hernandez-O.S.C.A.) +45 laps/Steering
Ret. Stuart Lewis-Evans (O.S.C.A.) +59 laps/Gearbox
Ret. Troy Ruttman (Lotus-O.S.C.A.) +61 laps/Collision
Ret. Ivor Bueb (BRM) +61 laps/Engine

Fastest lap: José Froilán González (Lotus-O.S.C.A.) - 1:41.39

For obvious reasons (our operation's tiny), JBW will not make the trip to Australia.

However, seeing as it costs us nothing, our Lotus-OSCA is available to any Antipodean privateers interested in entering the Australian GP

Australian driver Stan Jones will participate in the Australian GP as a privateer under the team name "S.J. Jones".

A deal has been made with Biscione that Jones will drive a Ferrari of his choice.

Righto, here's some entries for the Australian Grand Prix.

Scuderia Centro-Sud will not be making the trip, but the desire to complete the full season will see Hernando da Silva Ramos make the trip. He will enter as a privateer entry.

Surprisingly, Loonmotor elect not to enter the Australian Grand Prix.

Australian F1 and non-championship Australian Grand Prix regular Len Lukey will also make the trip, renting a an O.S.C.A from Rob Walker.

Another Australian driver, Ern Seeliger, will enter with a rented Loonmotor.

Entries
Hernando da Silva Ramos (Hernando da Silva Ramos) - O.S.C.A. F158 chassis 10, O.S.C.A. 1558 engine 14 (leased from O.S.C.A.)
Len Lukey (Len Lukey) - O.S.C.A. F156A chassis 5, O.S.C.A. 1557 engine 2 (leased from Rob Walker)
Ern Seeliger (Loonmotor van Australië) - Guidobaldi FG01 chassis 3, Loonmotor SAMC-1A engine 1 (leased from Loonmotor)

Sold! (I mean loaned, obviously).

I've also settled a deal with TCBY, so Ferrari will carry out the following transactions;

Ferrari 801 chassis 1 / DS50 engine 2 --> loaned to Ken Kavanagh for Aus GP
Ferrari DS50 engine 1 --> Sold to JB Naylor for a fee of £10,000
Ferrari 801 chassis 4 --> Sold to collectors

We'll enter the following as a budgetless privateer as well;

L. Davison
Driver: Lex Davison
Chassis: Lotus 10 chassis 7 (on loan from JB Naylor)
Engine: Ferrari DS50 engine 1 (on loan from JB Naylor)
