B.C.M.A. shall transfer all three Bentley 84-1 engines remaining in its possession to the British Racing Partnership, for the princely sum of £150.

Just confirming that BCMA have sold their three V2 Bentley engines to BRP for £150.

OSCA is building us a fourth identical engine, for a cost of £1,875. More fun to follow on this topic

May 18th 1958, Monaco Grand Prix
While the B.C.M.A. drivers got the early advantage at the start, utter pandemonium developed behind them in the Gasworks Hairpin as Giulio Cabianca spun around on the entry to the corner. González and Hamilton collided attempting to avoid the Italian, while Fangio and Ruttman both stalled after pulling straight ahead into the hay in the incident. This left Brabham leading Moss, Bonnier, Gallagher, Maglioli and Gregory after the first lap. It took a while for the gaps to close up after the accident, but within a few laps, Graham Hill had passed Gregory. Manzon, Collins, Stacey and Marimón were implicated in a large battle for eighth place, as the tight circuit made it very difficult to pass the driver in front.

Gregory and Stacey soon became involved in a battle for seventh place, and the two youngsters traded paint on several occasions, coming close to more significant contact. On lap 19, Stacey finally made his way through, only to be supplanted by Gregory's teammate Collins, who passed the two of them in the same lap! Stacey attempted to pass the Brit's Ferrari, but soon suffered from a gearbox failure that relegated him to the ranks of spectator. Robert Manzon soon followed him with suspension failure, leaving 13 drivers in the race. As the race settled down, Redmond Gallagher lost control of his O.S.C.A. and reversed into the straw bales at Tabac, ending his race. A few laps later, it was Masten Gregory whose clutch failed.

Shortly after the halfway point, Collins caught his teammate Maglioli, but the Italian seemed entirely uninterested in letting his teammate through. After Simon finally passed Hawthorn and Marimón to take seventh place, Collins found a way past Maglioli on lap 60. The two remained close for several laps, while they slowly reeled in the leading quartet of Brabham, Moss, Bonnier and Hill. That is, until lap 70.

Mike Hawthorn's gearbox expired first, immediately followed by dominant race leader Jack Brabham's. Jo Bonnier was left in second, trying to find a way past Stirling Moss. However, on lap 77, the Swede made a move that was rather too optimistic, outbraked himself on some stray straw and span into the escape road at Sainte-Dévote. Race over. Suddenly, Ottorino Volonterio was the last O.S.C.A. still running, albeit in last place. That is, until his strategy started to pay off. Shortly after the eightieth lap, he began to carve his way through the field. By lap 90, he was in fifth place, but he wasn't the only driver making gains.

On lap 92, Peter Collins caught and passed Graham Hill, putting the Ferrari in second place behind Stirling Moss. With eight laps remaining to steal a popular victory, Collins had his work cut out for him. By lap 97, Collins had caught Moss, and Volonterio was involved in a fight for third place with Hill and Maglioli. Volonterio was obviously faster, but was unable to find a way through in time. Further ahead, Collins finally found a way through on lap 99, and was therefore able to take Ferrari's first world championship victory since 1954.

Ecurie Voeckler will build another three Type 56/B chassis and G258/B engines respectively before the French GP.

This means multiple examples of the championship winning combination Type 56 / G258/A are available to rent for the French GP. Privateers, race for your countrymen!

(Also, Ferrari still have a couple of cars available for the upcoming French GP too).

British Racing Partnership are going to combine the four 0.5L V2 engines we bought the other day to create a new prototype 2.0L X8 engine.

Given that we can't easily turn its name into something silly like "Coswojuddhartlambo" I think we'll actually be sensible about this and dub it the "Bentley-BRP Mk.1 Proto"

Should the concept work (which it probably won't because I expect it to melt Tommy's spreadsheet) we may consider manufacturing similar engines in the future

Teams have begun to take notice of an American, called Zachariah Hamlinson, who was busy talking with F1 administration, officials, and race teams during the Monaco Grand Prix. His enquiries into the cost of F1 research, travel, and competition has alerted various teams to a potential new racing team that could be entering F1 in the near future.

(I don't know if tommykl got my email enquiring on joining this awesome historical simulation. But I am definitely interested.)

I have received your email, it went to my spam inbox!

To answer your inquiries without revealing too much: I'd be delighted to let you into the series with your current plans! Ideally you'd flesh out the backstory to give me a better idea of your starting budget. As for the information you require...

Cost of development of new machinery can be found here: https://www.gprejects.com/forum/viewtop ... 52#p383688
Cost of a race entry: £4 000 per car
Cost of transport of a car: £2 per km covered by a chassis (as the crow flies; engines are transported free of charge)
Upon sale of a component, no charges are incurred when being transported to the customer.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of your plans!

Guillion Bachot will loan a Lotus 10-OSCA combo from JB Naylor, whilst simultaneously running Kessler's car, with the same strategy as Kessler's.

I can confirm the (admittedly rather strange) deal with Guillon Bachot- J.B Naylor will be lending him Lotus 10 chassis 6 and OSCA 1557 engine 9 for the French GP.

In other news, I will be running a privateer Gordini at the French GP for obscure sportscar racer and pseudonym user "Mary". The exact chassis/engine being used is yet to be confirmed with Biscione, but one will be supplied for the event.

Regency Motors
Base: St Louis MO, USA
Owner: Zachariah Hamlinson
Founded 1957
Funding: 100,000

Zachariah Hamlinson began working as an engineer for Offenhauser in 1947, a year after Louis Meyer and Dale Drake purchased the company from Fred Offenhauser. Over the course of the next decade, Offenhauser would power 11 straight Indianapolis 500 race teams to victory at the Brickyard.

Zachariah Hamlinson asked Louis Meyer and Dale Drake for a small ownership share in Offenhauser, which was surprisingly denied. This led Zachariah Hamlinson to begin exploring the possibility of forming his own engine production company for the 1957 Indianapolis 500. This was met with severe resistance from almost every race team as the majority relied on Offenhauser engines. Offenhauser demanded that the Indycar teams ignore Zachariah Hamlinson's Regency Motors.

This state of affairs has not improved as we draw closer to the 1958 Indianapolis 500. Zachariah Hamlinson has begun exploring Regency Motors' entry into Formula 1 racing as a way of entering a racing market that is without the influence of the all-powerful Offenhauser Racing Engines and Sales. Using his sizable savings and engineering knowledge he has assembled a small production team to begin producing an Inline-4 engine in the Offenhauser vein with a lower peak torque that will better suit the more acceleration driven Formula 1 series.

Regency Motors spends 50,000 on researching their Inline-4 and plans on producing 4 engines (50,000). These brand new engines will go on sale to any interested parties for 16,000 each.

Earlier this week, small Formula One teams Scuderia Centro Sud and Scuderia Ugolini submitted a formal formal protest to the Commission Sportive Internationale (CSI) regarding overzealous five-car entries from the large manufacturers.

Translated from Italian, Guglielmo Dei, founder of the Scuderia Centro Sud team said "These large entry numbers are making it harder and harder for smaller teams to compete in Formula One. If this situation is not checked, soon Formula One will simply be 3 teams racing 5, 6, 7, 8 cars each, and that will be a very sorry state of affairs."

Further on in his statement, he also appealed for support from other teams, saying "We implore those who share our values to support us in this protest, for the good of the sport we all love".

It appears that other teams may share this sentiment, chief among those Vanwall, who recent- Rest of article obscured by motor oil
