Graham Eden Racing will be operating two cars this season.

In order of preference, we would like two drivers from:
  1. Nigel Mansell Image
  2. Derek Daly Image
  3. Ray Mallock Image
  4. Geoff Lees Image
  5. Jac Nellemann Image
  6. Michael Roe Image

I presume these guys are all pay drivers at this point - we'll take whatever money they do or don't throw at us.

In return for running drivers of their choosing, Lotus F1 Team has agreed to let us run one of their old Lotus cars. I'm not sure exactly which one it is (you'll have to check that particular detail with Takagi) but as far as I'm aware the deal involves them continuing to own said chassis, and essentially using us to develop their prospective drivers.

So, the first driver chosen will drive the Lotus-Ford F1 car; the second driver will drive the Ralt-Ford F2 car.

If there's anything I've done wrong, please let me know.

Your driver bids are perfectly fine (although in Mansell and Roe's cases it would be a leap straight up from Formula Ford), but I'm afraid the deal with Lotus is not possible under the rules. In fact, this is exactly the sort of scenario I've been hoping to avoid.

Lotus will be allowed to sell their old cars if Takagi states his intention to do so in the Alt-78 thread (Pasta's Alt-78, that is). The cars will then become available in the Aurora used car lot for everyone to place bids on in a manner similar to tommykl's post-season auctions in Alt-58, so long as the minimum bidding price is met (don't pay too close attention to the minimum prices as they currently stand, they are yet to be finalised).

Basically what Pasta and I are trying to avoid is turning Aurora into an extra source of profit for the bigger World Championship constructors.

John C. Cooper, while being more than happy to drive himself, would like to offer the following drivers the sole racing seat:

Nigel Mansell
Derek Daly
Ray Mallock
Geoff Lees
Rupert Keegan

As we're a small outfit that are prioritising buying a Championship winning chassis, we can't offer these drivers a wage, but rather presume that they all bring sponsorship of varying amounts.

Hesketh, having already signed South and Olofsson, would like to auction/sell off/scrap our 1976-spec 308Ds and our '75-spec 308 as soon as possible, so that we might have a chance of actually affording any of our World Championship travel fees (yes, it's got that bad now)

Driver RNGs have been run and the lineups can be found on the wiki: https://formularejects.com/wiki/1978_Al ... nd_drivers

Budgets will be updated in due course.

The equipment auction will begin this weekend. Be prepared...

Full RNG Report

Bertram Schäfer
1-50: Takes the well-paying RAM drive.
51-100: Stays at home and focuses on winning that second German F3 title
29 - Normally he wouldn't be interested, but that's a pretty good deal RAM are offering.

Rupert Keegan
1-75: Goes to RAM as a pay driver to offset the cost of hiring Schäfer
76-100: Hears about his teammate's wages and tells RAM to stuff it.
23 - The rumor mill stays quiet, and both RAM seats are filled in short order.

Nigel Mansell
1-10: Takes the Graham Eden drive with what little money he has.
11-20: Takes the John Cooper drive with what little money he has.
21-100: Thinks better of it and continues his struggle to secure funding for a step up to F3.
80 - There was no way Nige was going to benefit from an F1 drive...

Derek Warwick
1-30: Takes the free drive with national embarrassment BRM.
31-60: Takes the BRM drive, but only where it doesn't clash with F3.
61-100: Waits and sees if a Melchester drive materialises.
90 - He decides to wait a while.

Desiré Wilson
1-70: Takes the modestly paying drive with BRM.
71-95: Goes to DPR as a pay driver.
96-100: Looks elsewhere in the broader world of motorsport.
33 - Well, BRM can at least boast one driver.

Guy Edwards
1-70: Joins Brian Henton at the unimaginatively named British Formula One Racing Team.
71-100: Waits to hear back from Melchester Racing.
19 - The reigning championship runner-up will drive alongside the very skilled Brian Henton.

Valentino Musetti
1-95: Takes the drive for "Brumtalian" Alfa dealer Mario Deliotti.
96-100: Doesn't take the drive for "Brumtalian" Alfa dealer Mario Deliotti.
76 - Takes the drive for "Brumtalian" Alfa dealer Mario Deliotti.

Andrea de Cesaris
1-95: Takes up the offer to gain experience in whatever old F1 car Mario Deliotti can get his hands on.
96-100: Focuses entirely on F3.
66 - Andrea de Cesaris will do two races in Aurora to gain some F1 experience.

Alberto Colombo
1-95: Takes his newly purchased March Formula 2 car to England for Mario Deliotti.
96-100: Focuses full-time on his new San Remo Racing project.
67 - Colombo's career is saved!

Tony Trimmer
1-99: Continues with Melchester into 1978.
100: Moves to Tibet to take up soapbox racing.
68 - The reigning ShellSport champion will continue.

Bob Evans
1-70: Completes Melchester's two-car lineup for 1978.
71-100: Hears about Trimmer's wage, hangs up the phone in disgust.
50 - That's the Melchesters sorted.

Derek Daly
1-20: Takes up Graham Eden's offer and prioritises F1 over F2.
21-40: Takes the Eden drive, but with F2 taking precedent.
41-60: Takes John Cooper's offer with F1 being the priority.
61-80: Drives for Cooper, but only when there's no F2 getting in the way.
81-100: Firmly commits himself to his European F2 title campaign.
13 - The Dubliner will drive one of Graham Eden's cars for the full season.

Don Breidenbach
1-25: Pays up and sits in the DPR car for a year.
26-100: Can't be bothered paying for a full season in rainy England.
85 - He's not wasting his time with these Limeys.

Ray Mallock
1-35: Graham Eden.
36-70: John Cooper.
71-100: Chooses otherwise.
90 - Otherwise, he has chosen.

Tiff Needell
1-75: Scrapes together the funding for a DPR drive.
76-100: F3's the focus.
50 - DPR were almost out of options, but can be pleased to land such a promising talent.

Geoff Lees
1-35: See Ray Mallock
36-70: See Ray Mallock
71-100: See Ray Mallock
14 - Eden it is.

You can submit driver bids for a much less formal second round of RNGs which I can run the second I open the auction window. :)

I did read the title, kevinbotz. I’m just putting it there so I don’t forget later on, plus it’s nothing gamebreaking or whatever. I don’t really see the problem here.

Although I wouldn't recommend trying it again, you have had a positive effect in this instance. I've been somewhat avoiding this because I can't really remember how I had the next phase planned (although I was still working out market prices back in November so it was probably that).

So, ladies and gentlemen, this weekend we will (hopefully) have a bidding war!

And now, it's time for this long-awaited auction. Here are the rules:

- You can only place a bid that is greater than or equal to the minimum price displayed for each item below.
- The prices shown are for the complete car, i.e. including both chassis and engine.
- Every time someone bids on an item, everyone else will have 48 hours in which to make their own bid on that same item. This is to prevent last-minute bids that leave no time for anyone to respond (see the alt-56 post-season auction).
- Any items that receive no bids will be withdrawn from auction at 18:00 IST on July 9.
- The auction will be declared over once the July 9 deadline is reached or once the last bidding war is concluded, whichever comes last.
- You can also enter your own equipment into auction or conduct separate deals with other team owners.

If it's okay to enter a one car independent team - Welshman Christopher Roberts (born 13/04/1946) would like to enter the series for the full season.

If accepted, he'll bid £100k for the Token RJ02 chassis 1/engine.

(I'm really sorry I didn't realise there was a deadline)

Also, I would like to officially enter Arrows for the Whitsuntide race at Zandvoort, with Rosberg and Brancatelli driving - as usual ;)

Have £100,000!

The deadline has passed, but you still have some options:

Option A: Give your driver some backstory. I would assume Mr. Roberts has some experience in Formula Atlantic or F2 and, if so, he probably already has a car eligible to race for the F2 trophy.
Option B: Place a bid on the Lotus 76 (there's still 12 hours left of the current grace period for that). You will go into debt at this rate, but if you're in the black by season's end you should be golden.
Option C: Try and strike a deal with one of the other teams. Hesketh and BRM have already put up their old equipment for sale, and RAM are even selling some of their old Cosworths. You could even talk to Señor de Villota...

You can also combine option A with either of options B or C, and try to sell your Atlantic/F2 car for some extra cash, or if you're feeling particularly daring, buy an F1 engine and try to squeeze it into an F2 or Atlantic chassis.

All that said, I'm kind of tempted to run the auction again given the lack of responses and the shortage of equipment among the teams themselves...

With this new entry from an existing team owner, the following rules will be introduced:

- No direct cash transfers between teams are permitted unless the money is being offered in exchange for equipment or the services of a driver.
- In the event of an exchange of this nature, there will be a minimum price for the equipment or driver being exchanged, which will be set on a case-by-case basis.
- A free loan of equipment will be permitted as long as there is a clear timeframe for the duration of the loan (and don't say something like "two years" or you'll get a slap :P).

I really need to put all this stuff in one place...

So Roberts has been spending the past two years in the lower midfield of Formula Atlantic and as such has a car still (your choice what he has) but I'm going to explore the possibility of shoehorning a F1 engine in.
