Drive of the race: Jody Scheckter - dominant drive from the South African.
Reject of the race: Gabriel Chateau - instead of staying to the right of the track whilst leaving the pits, Monsieur Castle decided to weave in front of Patrick Depailler's Williams and cause an airplane crash. Luckily, the Frenchman was okay, but the masonry-themed driver earnt himself the season's fourth DSQ for his actions.

Andretti: Arnoux out of his depth
Reigning world champion Mario Andretti laid the blame for his embarassing race-ending crash firmly at the feet of McLaren driver Rene Arnoux following the Austrian Grand Prix.

"His driving is erratic at best" said an enraged Mario "I'm out here fighting for the championship and having to deal with mobile chicanes! Rene is out of his depth."

Formula War
Jean-Marie Balestre, current president of FISA - the Formula One governing body - described Bernie Ecclestone's leadership of the rebel Formula One Constructor's Association (FOCA) as "hypocritical". Balestre, 57, accused Ecclestone of lining his pocket whilst preaching about the standards of professionalism in the sport.

"FOCA are happy to have as many hobbyist drivers in ancient machinery enter the races to increase the prize money for themselves." said Balestre

"In actuality, there is no concern for professionalism. Mr Ecclestone turns a blind eye to 50 nobodies driving out of date cars and then accuses the governing body of being out of touch"
