XXX BRDC International Trophy

Despite taking pole, FLAP and the win, it was not a cakewalk for Patrick Depailler. James Hunt put in a strong challenge on the alternate strategy, opting to pit later in the race, and it may have worked had traffic not got in the way. Alan Jones, however, would not string any sort of challenge together, rising and falling throughout the pack as he struggled to put consistent laps in. The battle for the win may have been between Depailler and Hunt, but there were several stand-out performances throughout the pack. Bruno Giacomell impressed on his debut for Ferrari but a lack of experience prevented him from contending, Tom Pryce used his experience to drive a masterful race in the Tyrrell to run as high as 2nd, and Loris Kessel recovered something from the race after pitting for rear wing damage on lap 5. It was a terrible race for ATS, with Kessel's wing damage being caused by Rolf Stommelen, and Stommelen himself taken out of a promising 14th position by Harvey Jones. Harvey Jones had been putting in a turn of pace to climb the field, but the reckless move on Stommelen has made him a few enemies in the F1 paddock.

Fastest Lap: Patrick Depailler - 1:19.736
Drive of the race: Bruno Giacomelli - Competitive first outing for Ferrari.
Reject of the race: Harvey Jones - Impressive pace soured by clumsy move on Stommelen

Alt78 - Alive and Kicking - Teams Up For Grabs

Post by pasta_maldonado »

Well... it's back!

Two's company, three's a crowd - now back, with 100% more ineptitude! Yes, Alt78 makes a return, and with it the opportunity to grab a new team!

If this is your first time here, or can't remember the rules, they can be found here. The season will pick up where I left off, with the teams on their way to the French Grand Prix.

However, some teams may not make it there. A lot has happened in 2 years (!), so I've wound up a few of the teams, for storyline purposes. The teams in with a chance of continuing are listed in the spreadsheet below.

Spreadsheet

Link in case table does not work properly for you.

What do you want me to do?
New entries
If you're interested in running one of the vacant teams, fill out this form:

Username:
Discord nick: if relevant
1st preference:
2nd preference:
3rd preference:
I cannot guarantee you'll get your preferred team, but I'll try to get you something. Note: I reserve the sole right to allocate teams for storyline and/or practical reasons.

Existing entries - unconfirmed
If you would like to keep your current team, fill out this form:

Username:
Discord nick: if relevant
Team:

If not (and you read this), please post to relinquish your team.

Existing entries - confirmed
If you are happy to proceed - post along the lines of "I confirm I am running British F1 Racing Team in Alt78".
If you have changed your mind - please post to relinquish your team.

I'll announce the takeovers when interest has died down.

[size=10] and if you're thinking "oh god, this mug is back" you're not the only one..

J.O.U.R.N.A.L. wrote:Renault Trade for Disgruntled Tom Sneva

According to sources within both teams, Équipe Renault and Marlboro Team McLaren have agreed on a trade that would send American Tom Sneva and a McLaren team truck driver to the French team in exchange for the contract of René Arnoux and an account from the main offices of Renault.

Sneva was long displeased with the performance drop-off suffered by McLaren, who continue to insist on running the M23B, even though the car struggles to keep up with the stronger teams. In Arnoux, McLaren receive the reigning European Formula Two champion who, despite being 30, still has lots of promise.

You heard the questionable newspaper:

McLaren receives René Arnoux and his sponsorship money

I'd like to get all the teams sorted by Monday next week, so I can run the French G.P.

As the series has been on hiatus for 2 years, and people have taken over teams, I am allowing you to sack drivers without paying them severance fees (although you'll still have to pay for their replacements). If you'd like to hire new drivers, use this form:

Team:
User:
Fired Drivers:
Driver bid 1:
Wage:
Driver bid 2:

etc

After receiving statements of interest here and on Discord, here are the new team owners:

Ferrari -> Aislabie
March -> TCBY
Ensign -> Pilot
Autodelta Alfa -> GertrandBachot
Minardi -> kinnikuniverse

The rules are on the first page, as are the budgets in the spreadsheet.

Driver changes until the next round are free (as in you don’t have to pay severance) but you do have to pay the new guy’s wages.

If you have any questions, Discord is the place to ask!

I’d like to run a race next week, so can we get any upgrades / driver changes in by end of day tomorrow

Since Brambilla isn't entered for the Dutch Grand Prix, Boro have looked out for the best and hottest dutch talent out there for the ride, in order to impress the locals.

So, we offer the following drivers a chance to drive for a dutch team in their home Grand Prix.

Driver
Name: Arie Luyendyk
Wage: Paydriver (must bring some sort of money)
Contract Length: Netherlands only

Driver
Name: Jan Lammers
Wage: Paydriver (must bring some sort of money)
Contract Length: Netherlands only

Boro have also decided to invest in their first upgrades of the year, one for each: Grip, Handling and Mass.
