North Star is allowing Ertl to break his contract to go to ATS.

North Star will bid for Schäfer to replace him.

Fastest Lap: Jody Sheckter - 1:51.442
Drive of the race: Tom Sneva - Stunning drive to take 5th. The Renault had the edge on the straights but Sneva was pressured the whole way by faster cars through the corners.
Reject of the race: Thomas Nurmester - Found himself stuck behind much slower cars, including Sneva's Renault.

Fastest Lap: Alan Jones - 1:51.442
Drive of the race: Mario Andretti - On an alternate strategy to championship leader Scheckter, Andretti neutralised the race after the Ferrari man's untimely (and almost predictable) retirement. For real, it was a snoozefest...thanks Mario.
Reject of the race: Ronnie Peterson - Forgot what side of the track the pit entry was on. A hasty attempt to pit anyway lead to a collision course with the end of the pit wall. Peterson escaped with only minor bruising.

Given his success in lower formulae and in dragging the recalcitrant Penske onto the grid twice in 1977, Alfa Romeo would like to extend an offer to Bertram Schäfer to race for us at the German Grand Prix on a one-off basis in the place of Elio de Angelis, who will be returning into the car at the Austrian Grand Prix. We will use this to give him a chance to prove himself in a more competitive car and as consideration for a full-time drive in 1979.

Autosport wrote:Équipe Vitesse no-show at Dutch Grand Prix, show up to Zandvoort a week late
If you had paid close attention to the entry list for the Dutch Grand Prix, you might have noticed the entry of two privateers, Belgians Max and Padè Vitesse, fielding a pair of second-hand Marches. If you had been there for Friday morning's pre-qualifying, you might have noticed that they were nowhere to be seen. However, few seemed to notice their absence, FISA included, as like the rest of the paddock, they had no apparent reaction. No immediate reason was given by the Vitesse brothers for their absence either.
The million-dollar answer would be provided in dramatic fashion on the Friday following the Dutch Grand Prix, when the Vitesse brothers rocked up to Zandvoort all ready to compete - a week late! It turns out that despite residing in the Netherlands, their command of the Dutch language was limited at best and they had misread the date of the Grand Prix as being the week after its actual date. After realising their error, the duo decided to hold a test session, wherein they claim to have both set times faster than Gilles Villeneuve's pole time of 1:19.550. "We will live up to our name next time out", said Max Vitesse, hinting towards future entries by the duo, though no further detail was given.

Ligier will do an offer to Patrick Tambay for the remainder of the season, is he doesn't agree, we'll ask for good old Pescarolo, who is well-liked within the team.

So the offers:

-4 races for Tambay
-Should Tambay sign for Brabham to replace Watson, an offer for him to race the last 2 rounds, and Pescarolo the other 2
-In case Tambay refuses completely, an offer to Pescarolo for all 4 remaining races.
-Whatever combination somehow doesn't fit my bids, Jarier will get a bid for that one.

"I can't thank them enough really" said Watson. "The marshalls, the medical staff, everyone really was just fantastic. Thanks to them I'm on the mend and should be back before the end of the year".

Brabham are yet to confirm Watson's replacement.

March will sack Francois Migualt due to his unsatisfactory qualifying performances and bring in Guillaume Gauthier (confirmed with Pinkd56) as our new second (pay)driver for the remainder of 1978, with first refusal on the second March seat for 1979

EDIT: with the Pryce loan deal confirmed, March intends to sign one of the three drivers for the three rounds we'll be without him, in this order of preference:
1. Patrick Tambay (£5.5k per race, £88k per annum)
2. Jean-Pierre Jarier (£5.1k per race, £81.6k per annum)
3. Nelson Piquet (PD)

Also, we'll do an upgrade:
Team: March

EDIT 2: after the signings of Piquet and Gauthier, March have purchased a further upgrade:

B&S Fabrications will enter Luciano Sighinolfi in the Italian GP

The second car i'll bid on the usual suspects of Galica and Anderson (in that sequence)

If Sighinolfi somehow brings enough money to make us able to enter the austrian GP, the usual suspects (Galica and anderson) will enter there.

B&S looks forward to battling Dywa on its home ground.

Ragusa-based racing driver and Italian Formula Three veteran Luciano Sighinolfi has announced his intention to enter the Italian Grand Prix at Monza in September, driving for B&S Fabrications.

He told local journalists: "As you will all be aware, I briefly raced in the Dywa Grand Prix Series earlier this year." *crickets* "Of course, after the accident at Rouen, I felt I had no choice but to withdraw from the series. I think that now is the right time for me to get back behind the wheel of a racing car, and B&S Fabrications have been the team gracious enough to give me that opportunity."

B&S Fabrications has so far entered the British and German Grands Prix, not yet making it out of prequalifying, while Conny Andersson finished 16th in the Tony Brise Memorial Trophy.

We will not be paying the fine to the scoundrels at FISA. Bobby Rahal is one of the best American drivers in Formula One, and it is not his fault for the accidents in question. We will honor our agreement with FOCA and stand against this fine.

F&S Properties Team Ensign also intends to run at the Austrian GP, as we have already paid our travel and entry fees for this race.

FISA statement wrote:FISA would like to remind Team Ensign that unless Bobby Rahal personally pays his £3,000 fine, he will be excluded from the Austrian Grand Prix and all subsequent rounds.

FISA also condemns the lack of co-operation from the teams into the German Grand Prix incidents.

FISA President

The FISA-FOCA war has begun.
By the start of 1979, all teams will need to align themselves either with Bernie Ecclestone's Formula One Constructor's Association (FOCA) or with FISA President Jean-Marie Balestre.

Over the next few seasons, there will be events that will impact both camps as the struggle for power and control rages on. There will also be long-term consequences for your choices, too.

Only teams with a full season travel package can affiliate with FISA or FOCA.

The Rahal incident is yet to be resolved, but it has guaranteed Ensign's affiliation with FOCA. The other mandatory affiliations are Brabham with FOCA, and Ferrari, Renault, and Alfa with FISA.

For now, the rest of you can register you affiliation using the following form:

I've arranged to pay off Rahal's fine with some of the club's spare cash. I hope this helps reach an agreement on our new three-year race deal. Preferably a cheaper deal..

I would like to make a privateer entry for the Canadian Grand Prix:

Team Name: Équipe Reynard (Not the one you're thinking of) Image
Chassis: March 741
Engine: Renzo DFV
Driver 1: Renard Reynard Image
Driver 2: Jacques Clouseau Image

I would also like to enter these privateers for both the Canadian and United States Grands Prix:

Team: Victory Racing Image
Chassis: March 741
Engine: Renzo DFV
Driver 1: Duncan Idaho Image
Driver 2: Max Speed Image (not to be confused with MAX SPOED #1)

To replace James Hunt for the upcoming Italian GP Brabham will approach Carlos Reutemann and ask if he would like to make a one off f1 return.
If he refuses we will offer the seat to Jean Pierre Jarier. Should he refuse we will ask someone
