Motor Sport Magazine wrote:Brabham's New Cooling Solution
The new Brabham BT46B sports a large circular fan underneath the rear wing, a new technology designer Gordon Murray hails as "the future of cooling solutions".

"Having the fan at the back means we can reduce the area of the radiators, making the car more aerodynamic" said Murray when pressed for a comment.

Motor Sport Magazine wrote:Stewards rule Brabham's "fan car" is legal
The race stewards have ruled the Brabham fan car is legal, after the BT46B passed scrutineering for the Mugello Grand Prix. The stewards were satisfied that by the Brabham team's argument that the fan is primarily a cooling system and not a moveable aerodynamic device, which are banned under the regulations.

Autosport wrote:Jubilant Hunt Streaks Ahead
James Hunt took his second victory of the year in the new Brabham BT46B, already dubbed the "fan car". After starting from the second row, Hunt worked his way to the front, and pulled away from the competition.

"[The fan car] is the grippiest thing I've ever driven" said Hunt after the race.
"I was taking it easy in qualifying and at the start of the race, but the more I flung it into the corners, the more it gripped. I was enjoying it so much at the end of the race I could have gone on for another 50 laps!"

The legality of the fan car is already being disputed, with teams up and down the paddock reportedly unhappy with the device.

Protesting the steward's decision
You have the choice whether to support the fan car, or to protest against it following the steward's verdict. I will run an RNG to determine the outcome once I have a clear idea of who supports what.

Autosport wrote:Tyrrell calls for Brabham's disqualification from Tuscan GP
The controversial "cooling" fan device installed in the rear of the Brabham BT46B has split Formula One in two halves. Some teams defend Brabham and praise Gordon Murray for his clever idea, while others consider it against the rules and call for punishment.

Ken Tyrrell was the latest team boss to hit out at the Bernie Ecclestone-owned team, after seeing James Hunt dominate the Tuscan Grand Prix in what he argues is not a legal car:
"Well, even though the Brabham is one of the front-runners these days, there was absolutely no way it should be beating the Ferraris by 30 seconds. I really think that the fan stuck on the back of their car was primarily not used as a device to cool the car, but to provide even more grip than the car would have under normal circumstances. They already have an advantage over most of the field due to having a ground effects chassis, there's absolutely no need to try and have an even bigger advantage by doing such things. We will definitely file a protest to the FIA."

Tyrrell put up a good showing at the Mugello circuit, with Didier Pironi finishing just outside the points in 7th place and Robert Kagan finishing 11th. However, in case the Brabham "fan cars" are disqualified, it will earn Pironi two points.
The final verdict is likely to happen before the Race of Champions in Brands Hatch.

As mentioned on Discord in our telex message earlier, ATS will formally protest the legality of the Brabham "fan car". Not only are there major safety concerns regarding the application of such a device, but allowing it would lead to an arms race among the teams, making it even harder for smaller constructors with less development resources to stay even remotely competitive.

We will enter the ROC with the following lineup if possible:

Team Name: ATS Racing Team
Number: 16
Driver #1: Rolf Stommelen

Autosport wrote:Alfa Romeo protest fan car
The Alfa Romeo team have joined in the protests of the Brabham fan car, having launched a scathing attack on the British outfit after the Tuscan Grand Prix.

The Italian team have said: "This fan is quite clearly helping the car go round corners faster, as evidenced by [James] Hunt's comments on it after the race. Brabham are blatantly cheating to get around the rules as they know they cannot beat the other teams through proper means.

"Not only that, they are clearly willing to endanger the drivers with this monstrosity. The fan could kill, disfigure, blind or maim someone by throwing up stones. We cannot allow this, so we demand that FISA do the right thing and ban it immediately, as well as exclude Brabham from the results of the recent race at Mugello for their antics.

"Bernie Ecclestone is a corrupt, dishonest crook who will stop at nothing to put himself above anyone else. We knew this when we thought we had agreed an engine contract with them for 1977 yet he went behind our backs and signed with Ford. You therefore cannot trust this man. Get behind us and ban the fan!"

Autodelta driver Emerson Fittipaldi finished 8th at the race and would stand to be promoted to 6th should the Brabham team be excluded from the results, giving the team a world championship point to assist them in their quest for 5th in the constructors championship.

If you don’t meet the requirements for your sponsorship tier, you pay the sponsor money back at the end of the season. Effectively it is deducted from your prize money.

Additionally, it was ruled that the car was legal as of the time it was raced, so James Hunt's victory will stand

I'm not going to upgrade for this round; might hold off as long as the Italian GP depending on if my drivers stop binning it can get the most out of the car or not
