As the remaining teams who need a second driver (March, Ligier (12 races), North Star, Rebaque, Shadow, Gilmore) post bids and offers come in for Postlethwaite, let's move onto the next stage of the Alt78 - chassis construction / upgrading.

Chassis

New chassis are constructed in just the same way as before, only with a few new variables to consider. Drag reduces the BHP of your engine (with 1 drag point = -1 BHP), and chassis weight/mass reduces your chassis grip (1 chassis mass point = -1 grip point). Drag is a fixed value for construction, whereas chassis weight is RNG'd from a range for each tier of chassis. Both parameters are upgradeable. 1978 chassis construction values for both normal and GE chassis can be found on the 'Chassis' tab of the spreadsheet.

Upgrades

The upgrade season has been radically changed. You can make upgrades at any time, but in exchange, the law of diminishing returns has been implemented so that each upgrade costs exponentially more. Upgrades for existing chassis have been back-ccounted to fit in with this.

All current chassis stats can be found on the "existing chassis" tab of the spreadsheet, complete with information on how many upgrades each chassis has and how much the next one will cost.

Hesketh haven't had any travel fees deducted as I'm not sure which 5 races you wish to enter. Also remember that you only get a proportion of your pay driver's money, which in your case is 5/16 ths.

Engines

Exactly the same as last year, simply peruse the spreadsheet and pick what engine you'd like. Each engine manufacturer has teams they MUST supply, and teams they CAN supply. If there are two or more tams who are interested in obtaining Alfa or Matra engines, an RNG will be run to determine who gets the contract. Teams bidding for Alfa or Matra engines must also provide a second choice.
