2020 Russian F4 Championship

Post by Klon »

In a bid to make use of the popularity of F1 in Russia thanks to the legendary performances by Vitaly Petrov and Evgeny Restov, the Russian Automobile Federation, the Russian government and Best In The World™ have teamed up to establish the Russian Formula 4 Championship.

This series is rather unusual in two ways:

1. THE CARS

The FIA-certified Crawford Composites chassis is paired not with a normal internal combustion engine, but instead a 180 hp hydrogen fuel cell designed by GAZ in cooperation with Porsche's best engine designers.

2. THE MODUS

To both simulate the high pressure to immediately succeed in F1, ARWS and IndyCar and to make for a more thrilling product for audiences in Russia, instead of a classic championship, instead the series is run in a knockout format over six rounds. All events support the Russian Circuit Racing Series, except the season opener.

26 April, Istanbul Park: Seeding round
17 May, Smolensk Ring: Round of 16: the 16th-placed driver in the seeding round faces against the winner thereof - whomever finishes ahead advances to the next round
21 June, NRING Circuit: Wildcard round: the 8 losers of the Round of 16 race for a wildcard entry, where they can enter themselves into any duel of the quarter- or semi-finals and therefore get a second chance
26 July, Irkutsk Speedway: Quarter-finals
16 August, Moscow Raceway: Semi-finals
27 September, Kazan Ring: Finals

The winner earns test drives with Best In The World Kahama Motor Sport. Both participants in the Finals also become part of the Best In The World Support Group.

How to enter?
Basically, you just enter your driver. Only fictional drivers from either Russia or its neighboring states (except Poland) are permitted. There are 16 slots. Drivers are permitted to have ages between 17 and 27 on April 1, 2020.

For now, you will just need to fill out the following and pick a slot:

Code: Select all

Slot:
Driver Name:
Birthplace:
Date of Birth:

For now entries are limited to one DEC per user. Should there be less demand for seats, you will get to enter more.

Driver Speciality

Post by Klon »

Alright, with 16 entries on the list, we now move on to the important step:

Driver Speciality
Each driver has one thing they are especially good at. Of course, gifted drivers have more than one thing they are good at, but those talents emerge later.

Your task is to pick now what your driver is best at. There are types of speciality, each with their own effect:
Brick Wall - If you are behind them, it will stay that way. Any overtake move against them only has a 25 % chance of succeeding
Consistent Effort - A brilliant description for these drivers is "machine-like precision". Their performance will never vary by more than 0.5 percent per lap
Professional Driver - You will never catch these drivers making an error, even at young age. Their chance of making a driver error is 1% per lap
Overtaking Master - Whenever these guys try to take a position, there is little that can stop them. Any overtake move has a 75% chance of succeeding
Supreme Madman - These guys have insane speeds and always give it a 110%. Their base performance will never be below 102,00% of the perfect time, but their chance of making a driver error is at 8% per lap
Wild One - For these drivers, it is important to stay unpredictable. Their speciality is randomly picked from one of the abovementioned five, with it being replaced with another randomly selected one after the first half of the season

Furthermore, in a first-come, first-serve manner, one driver can have this speciality:
Meme Lord - Regardless of how well this driver's career goes, he will always have a place in social media. A random factor of their performance is randomly influenced each week.
Only users with only one DEC in the series can take this speciality.

Please let me have your DEC's Driver Speciality by posting it in this thread by August 15, 9:00 p.m. CEST. Any driver that does not have a speciality by then will be assigned the Driver Speciality - Wild One.

Seeding Round - Qualifying

Post by Klon »

Yeah, this is still happening. :chilton:

First off, following adjustments to the driver specialties must be announced

Code: Select all

Because I decided on a different mode in regards to overtakes, the specialties *Brick Wall* and *Overtaking Master* no longer influence likelihood of a move, but instead the overtaking spot, with Brick Wall automatically forcing an overtake at the most difficult spot and Overtaking Master automatically forcing an overtake at the easiest spot; when Brick Wall and Overtaking Master are in an overtaking situation, their specialties cancel each other out and the normal random selection of overtaking spot is used.

The error rate of the specialty *Supreme Madman* has been increased to 10 percent

Maybe I have missed it in a post somewhere, but I am a bit confused about the 'Best Times' of each driver. Some quicker drivers seem to be lower down the order, what has caused that?
