2020 European Formula 3 season - SIL Race 2 up

Post by pasta_maldonado »

Image

With normal32's permission, welcome to season 1 of European Formula 3!

The Simulator

Grand Prix 2. Same as everyone uses...

The Spreadsheet
Like my other series, this contains all the information of your teams, and is visible at the bottom of this post or via this link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1dKpT2pv73ig-xbO-JK2vLSrvmfGr18Co9cRKej_jxc0/edit?usp=sharing

The Cars

As promised last year, there will be a new spec chassis for European F3 season- the Lola T20/30, powered by a conventional Opel V4T engine.

The Drivers

- Drivers can be real-life or fictional
- Fictional drivers require the written approval of the driver's DEC in order to be signed.
- Drivers must be at least 16 years old before the start of the season. I will ask all participants to show a proof of age from either the Formula Rejects Wiki, wikipedia or driverDB
- Drivers can be of any nationality.
- I have the final say on which drivers are suitable for this series.

Drivers who have already been confirmed on the wiki page must be run this season, unless there is a good reason not to (driver has found employment elsewhere)

The Teams

The F3 grid will comprise of 26 cars divided into 12 teams. Each team must be based within Europe and must compete under a European Racing License. The team which ran the driver's champion of the previous season will be awarded a third car along with the team's champion. If the team's champion is the same outfit which ran the driver's champion, the runner-up in the team's champion will be awarded a third car. If the team which ran the driver's champion elects to leave the sport, third cars will be awarded to the team's champion and the team's runner-up of the previous season, and so on until two teams are running 3 cars. Running a third car does not affect your team in any way. The remaining 10 teams are only entitled to run 10 cars.

Events

Each race weekend is called an Event, and is divided into two races. The first is the 100km feature race, with the winner of this event receiving the weekend's named trophy as a prize (e.g. BRDC International Trophy). The second race of the weekend is the 50km sprint race, with the winner of this event not receiving a named trophy.

Each race will have it's own qualifying session, which will last 15 minutes.

The Points System

1 - 15 pts
2 - 12 pts
3 - 10 pts
4 - 8 pts
5 - 6 pts
6 - 5 pts
7 - 4 pts
8 - 3 pts
9 - 2 pts
10 - 1 pt
Pole Position - 2 pts

The Gimmick - Driver Points
The Gimmick for this series is driver points. You can spend driver points on improving your driver's speed or your driver's consistency. Driver points can be accumulated by writing news articles in the thread, with articles of varying length generating more driver points. Those who do not feel like writing long articles do not need to - a simple title and one line is enough to generate driver points. Driver points can be spent on your driver at any point in the season, but articles written before the final Grand Prix of the season do not carry over into next season. Please see the spreadsheet for more details.

The Penalty System

There will not be a penalty point system for F3. However, on-track indiscretions will be appropriately sanctioned. Appropriate sanctions include the removal of driver points, a race ban, or an event ban, although this list is non-exhaustive. I have full control over what is deemed an appropriate sanction.

The Race Calendar

Please see the wiki.

The Entry List

Team owners from 2019 must check in to continue to run their teams. Teams with TBA are open to offer from users. If enough users can't be found to run 12 teams, then I will allocate users two teams.

Remember that teams with confirmed drivers MUST run those drivers unless those drivers are employed elsewhere.

I have the final say on who gets what entry.

Prema Powerteam / Prema-Status Superteam - 3 cars - TBA (3 confirmed drivers)
Plus One Racing Engineering - Pasta (1 confirmed driver)
Carlin - Gonzalez
Magnussen Racing Experience - Bandon23
Red Bull HYPERNOVA - Ataxia and Klon (2 confirmed drivers)
Charouz Racing System - Reject_Dom
Precision-Mucke Motorsport - 3 cars - Wizzie
Union Saver Developments - SeedStriker
ART Grand Prix - kevinbotz
Calinetic Junior Team - Miguel98
Scuderia Adriatica / Williams Junior Team - novitopoli
Abiadura Euskara - Pinkd56 (2 confirmed drivers)

Charouz Racing System will enter European F3 this season aiming to eventually get to Formula 2 in the near future.

With the future of AutoReject 2.0 uncertain, Charouz would like to sign James Wilmington (10th in AR2.0 in 2019) with the other seat TBA.

Driver Signing

Post by pasta_maldonado »

With just one team left up for grabs - Prema Powerteam - let's get into some driver signing.

As it is probably clear by now, real-life driver bids will be determined by RNG. Please be aware or a driver's current canon engagements and their RL career, as both will influence the RNG.

For fictional drivers, you will need the DEC owner to confirm their signing in the thread. This is not needed for drivers currently signed - see below - or for drivers whose DEC are currently absent/unknown.

Teams who currently have drivers signed are listed below:

Prema Powerteam - Riley Griffith, Behrmann Reith, John-Paul Casciaro
PORE - Gabriel Hoffmann
Red Bull HYPERNOVA - David Schumacher, Magda Szervánszky
Charouz Racing System - James Wilmington
Abiadura Euskara - Raquel Rodriguez, Luca Bandini

Therefore Prema, HYPERNOVA, and Abiadura Euskara do NOT need to hire any drivers. PORE and Charouz have ONE seat to fill.

You may make a total of 3 bids per seat with multi-year contracts being prohibited. For all driver signings, please bear in mind the minimum age of 16, and that I have the final say on which drivers are suitable for this series.

Please submit all driver offers by Thursday, 20th September using the following form:

Code: Select all

As I forgot to mention it, each user can write a total of 2 Driver Point earning articles before the season starts. You can only earn points on articles about a signed driver, which only includes RL drivers AFTER the RNG has been run. Articles must also be primarily about the driver in question.

To clarify about Driver Points as there is a bit of confusion. These can be earnt by team owners for writing an article about their contracted drivers. A driver's DEC owner, however, can earn points for their driver even though he/she is at another team. However, Driver Points can only be spent by team owners.

Example:

User Alpha and owns Team 1, and have Driver X and Y contracted. I write two headlines about driver X. I now have two points available to spend on him. Driver Y's DEC is User Beta, who owns Team 2. If User Beta writes an article about Driver Y, the points go to User Alpha, who can spend them on Driver Y.

John-Paul Casciaro in an interview with The Gibraltar Magazine wrote: "I'll be honest, I don't think I was quite ready enough last year. I went straight from the British Touring Car package onto a near enough World Championship in my second season. I got a bit of a shock but I feel acclimatised to it now - especially with my renewed support from Theodore. I'm aiming for the podium from the word go."

Just so everyone's clear, the new owner of Prema has earnt 3 Driver Points from that article.

Is the 2020 Asian season happening? I'm asking because Zhou Xiaoping is primarily looking for a seat from there but if it's not happening, he'll be able to transfer to Europe to further his career.

Both Malik Zidan and Massimo Torelli wish to remain in European F3. Both drivers are experienced and more than capable of fighting for podiums, with the latter really hoping to finish top 5 in the standings this season.

(Please contact me in PM if you are interested in either driver.)

Asian F3 will happen in some form, so Xiaoping will be able to find a drive there.

Isn’t Riley Griffith suppose to not be your driver? Because she’s suppose to be in the ROR as it was originally owned by Normal. Unless this was reconfirmed by the owner itself, i just don’t know. Also Riley is a she ( I think) and not a he.

Team Owner Trevor Carlin has also stated that he is aiming for the team to have a British Driver in their lineup in a bid to gain more representation of Britiain and more support from fans.

Drivers being mentioned as targets include Lucas Legeret, a swiss driver with moderate success when he competed in the 2018 italian F4 Season where he finished 5th that season and missed out in contention for that series championship. Having raced in Eurasia F3 in 2019 where he finsihed 8th, Carlin felt that the successful signing of the Swiss would give him more of a chance of going higher in the standings and contend again for the series title.

Another driver on Carlin's radar is Jamie Caroline, who is currently the team's strongest target as an attempt to sign a British Driver. The team felt Caroline also has potential talent like Legeret which is based on his results in Eurasia F3 last season.

Other drivers are also in the list under Carlin's radar which includes Italian F4 runner up Massimo Torelli.

We'll be fine. It's Canon, non Kodak.

Precision-Mucke's bid for Collet will be denied as he is competing in SAF4 in 2020.

Ah, my bad. In that case, we'll bid for Javier González instead

I'll allow Torelli race for Scuderia Adriatica for another season.

Jemma Triggs and Gerallt Davies from Anglo-Irish F4 are both available for promotion to F3. Both are top competitors, Triggs finished 9th in the championship last year (with 4 wins to her name) and Davies finished 10th.

With all driver bids received, the RNGs have been run and all seats have been filled. Please check the wiki for line-ups

Please see this Google Doc for the RNG ranges and outcomes in full.

Team owners have until Saturday 22nd September to get their two pre-season Driver Point articles in. Driver Point upgrades will be open after the first round of the season. Here's a brief run through of the Driver Points rules:

me wrote:As I forgot to mention it, each user can write a total of 2 Driver Point earning articles before the season starts.

A driver's DEC owner, however, can earn points for their driver even though he/she is at another team, and these articles count for the between-round Driver Point article cap. The article cap is listed on the spreadsheet, and is per team not per driver.
