With a major shift behind the scenes, the FIA has taken back control of the sport. With a wise and conservative mind at the top of the sport, F1 is back on the road again and it is

Rule Changes:
- Qualifying is replaced by two sessions of 40 minutes, one on Friday and Saturday each at 2:10 p.m. local time. During each session, all drivers are permitted to complete up to 12 laps. The grid is sorted by the best times of each driver across both sessions.
- The regulations demanding a five-place grid penalty to be applied to any car which uses more than three motors and/or gearboxes in a season have been revoked.
- The superlicense rules are changed: any driver that has completed at least two race distances (~370 km) under FIA supervision and is ruled "suitable for Formula One competition".
- Testing after the official pre-season tests is further limited to 18,000 km, however teams may starting testing immediately after the completion of the summer work stoppage (last week in August in 2020)

Role Call

Post by Klon »

Normally, I would begin the season outright, but given the rather flux state of Alternate Formula One over the last month, I'd once again like to role call all players, ask whether anybody else is interested in joining the game and furthermore also request whether any established players would be interested in surrendering control of their team to take control of Ferrari. Thank you in advance for for your time.

Sponsorship Choice + Lead Designer Market

Post by Klon »

Thank you to all for reporting back and entering the game.

We will start the 2021 season the same way we started 2020, with the sponsorship market.

Sponsorship

Every team that is not a works team will be offered a main sponsorship contract by two sponsors at the start of the season, which will pay out €50,000,000 for teams finishing in P10 to P13 in last year's World Constructors Championship, €35,000,000 for teams finishing in P5 to P9 in last year's World Constructors Championship as well as any new teams and €15,000,000 for teams finishing in P1 to P4 in last year's World Constructors Championship for hiring a driver from one out of eight possible Target Regions.

Should the team not sign a driver from the Target Region, the sponsor will pay out €15,000,000 for teams finishing in P10 to P13 in last year's World Constructors Championship, €5,000,000 for teams finishing in P5 to P9 in last year's World Constructors Championship as well as any new teams and €2,000,000 for teams finishing in P1 to P4 in last year's World Constructors Championship.

Any Target Region driver must compete in all Grand Prix weekends of the respective Alternate Formula One season, unless injury or bans prevent a driver under contract to appear in a race. A driver from a Target Region condition can be released, as long as he is replaced with a driver that is from the same region. Should a team fail to replace the driver with a fitting one, they must return an amount of money equal to the difference between the money paid out for the specific condition and the money they would have received for fulfilling no condition.

A Target Region driver is hired when a driver has the nationality of any nation within the determined Target Region out of eight possible regions:

File here!

In case of the administration making a factual error regarding overseas territories or similar topics or the map proving unclear, the administration will decide in which region a specific driver belongs. Same also applies to dual nationalities and other fringe cases.

Switching conditions (outside of the abovementioned "move" from a condition to no condition) and/or switching sponsors during the season is not permitted.

The list of sponsors for each team is as follows:

## Calinetic ##
Hitachi:
Target Region - East Asia

BMW:
Target Region - Central & Southern Europe

## Dawson ##
Ebro Foods (retained once):
Target Region - Atlantic Ocean

Google:
Target Region - Indian Ocean

## FAST ##

Loonmotor:
Target Region - North Sea

## Williams ##
Ravon:

Shougang (retained once):
Target Region - Latin America

Lead Designer

The lead designer is a key element for every great Formula 1 car. No car can be great, if the man responsible for the final decisions is a baffoon. Therefore, you will need to hire a lead designer to head the design process.

Lead designers can be hired at the start of a season. Any unemployed lead designer can be signed by a team with the team chosen by the designer decided by a RNG weighted by in accordance to the following formula "100/(Offering Team's Last Year's World Constructors Championship position/Years Offered)"; new teams as defined are for the purpose of this formula treated as if they finished P14.. Lead designers can only be signed for up to 8 years and cannot be sacked during an active contract. Every even season, the performance of all lead designers are randomly modified.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After reading through that, you will now be asked to fill out the following until December 28, 11:00 p.m. CET:
Autosport wrote:Krautmeir steps down from day-to-day running at Precision
Former F1 race winner and Precision team owner Jeroen Krautmeir has today revealed he will be taking a back seat from the day-to-day operations of the Precision Formula One team, instead choosing to focus on forging ties with Mercedes' road car division as an aftermarket tuner. Having claimed both last years' drivers championship with Diego Alvarez-Torrente and the constructors championship, Krautmeir felt it was the right time to move away from a hands-on role in the team.
"The last five years have been an incredible adventure for me, and I'm so proud of everyone in the team and what we have achieved," said Krautmeir. "Having finally made it to the mountain top, now is the right time for me to focus on new professional challenges, with our upcoming launch of Precision Motor Works aftermarket services and deepen our ties with Mercedes both now and into the future."
While it's unknown who will be taking over the team, it's been rumoured that former ARWS Commission member and former race team manager Don Rennis could be in the frame to take over the Team Principal role at Precision Motorsport heading into the new season.
Motorsport.com wrote:MRT and BMW to enter F1 in 2022
Formula One scored a big win today, with the announcement that perennial ARWS front-runners Melrose Racing Team will be entering Formula One in 2022 with factory BMW backing. The squad, owned by four-time world champion and ARWS race winner Daniel Melrose, has made the shock move of buying the struggling Calinetic team's entry. While it was believed that the team would run under the MRT banner for 2021, a quirk in the F1 regulations means that they will retain the Calinetic name for 2021.
"Today is one of the proudest days of my career," said Melrose. "For years being a team owner has been in my blood, and today I finally get to bring the famous MRT name to Formula One. I can't thank BMW enough for their support, in a relationship that has been going for 15 years now, and I am more than excited to lead the next chapter in their proud motorsport history."
With Melrose expected to take one of the seats at least for the short term, much speculation remains about the team's plans for 2021, with rumours a mock BMW-powered 2022 car could be seeing the track at the Nurburgring as early as June this year.
Fernando Alonso, Autosport Interview wrote:
I am happy with how our operation has turned out. We certainly have kinks to correct here and there, but I can say we're in a good position to improve. With that country club series having problems and F1 getting back on track I think our team can surprise this year even with many people coming back from that other series.
- - - - - - - - - -
I think Melrose decided to finally stop driving. I was rather old when I had my final season in F1, and eventually you got to step aside and let the younger drivers prove themselves. Certainly I miss being in the cockpit but I built this team and that's something as incredible as winning a championship.
Ferrari’s new team principal Piero De Luca, who will replace Giovanni Roda after a winless couple of seasons, has said that he is “ready” for former Ferrari driver Daniel Melrose’s new F1 outfit.
“We fielded Melrose in multiple previous seasons and know a lot about him as a driver. We appreciate his time with us and look forward to taking the challenge to him this season.”
The team who have not won a race since the second race of the 2018 Cyprus Grand Prix weekend is aiming for a change of fortune to bring the Scuderia back to the front of the pack.
Car Market + Engine Market
Car Market
During any time during the game, between two and seven motor manufacturers are available and are represented through so-called "works teams". Should any work team change hands and should the first user on the waiting list choose to not retain the identity of the works team, the administration may choose a new manufacturer and respective works team at their own digression.
These are the current works teams in Alternate Formula One:
Ferrari - Ferrari (FortiWinks)
Mercedes-Benz - Precision (Kinnikuniverse)
Toyota - Toyota (Reject_Dom)
The four works teams provide hydrogen motors. Since the situation last year prevented a proper engine development system, for this season the engine performance was decided on basis of the 2020 performance with minor modifications made on basis of an RNG.
Each of these works teams is responsible for agreeing on engine contracts with the so-called "customer teams" with a maximum engine price of €40,000,000. There is no upper limit to the length of an engine contract, but engine contracts can only be agreed on in full seasons. Works teams get their engines for free and 10 percent of the price of each engine contract added to their budget after the eleventh-to-last Grand Prix weekend of the season in order to fund development of a new engine. Modifying an engine contract during the season is forbidden, except adding additional clauses if both the customer and the works team agree to do so. Engine deals with bankrupt teams become void, unless new user decides to keep the identity of the team in which case the works team may unilaterally decide to continue the contract. The following contracts can be continued by the works team in that fashion: FAST (Mercedes-Benz), Red Bull (Ferrari), Sauber (Judd). The works teams are requested to announce whether they wish to do so at the earliest opportunity.
Should a customer team fail to come to an agreement with any of the four works teams, the administration will look at all potential offers made to said team. Should it find any of those reasonable in relation to the prices other customer teams pay, it will order the customer team in question to accept the offer. Should it find none reasonable, the engine manufacturer's works team with the least amount of customers will be requested to sell to said team at a reasonable price. The administration reserves the right to exclude users as needed if neither method results in an agreement.
All deals must be confirmed by both the works team and the customer team either in this thread, through forum private message or on Discord.
Every team must build a chassis at the start of the year. Building a completely new chassis during the season is not permitted. The grip value of the chassis is determined by three seperate factors: the Lead Designer, the Design Concept and the Personnel.
Please note that you must have a budget of €0 or more after sponsorship has been added, so you may not spend more than you are capable of making back through the sponsorship. After reading through that, you will now be asked to fill out the following at your earliest convenience:
Can I please get some clarifications on how engine upgrades work? Seems super vague innit?
Well, there aren't any, really. During the season, the works teams will be given a development system that basically offers five ways of improving the engine for 2022: qualifying performance, race performance, reliability and, new for 2022, weight (influencing the grip of the car) and power output (influencing the random grip range). However, the values seen in the table in the OP are the engine stats for the 2021 season.
Toyota will be open to offers from interested customer teams, however do note the engine price will be slightly lower if a driver from the Toyota Young Drivers Program (TDP) takes one of the team's seats.
if possible, we would also like to keep our championship-winning line-up of Jules bianchi and Diego Alvarez torrente for this season, with esteban ocon as our reserve driver.
we also offer our Mercedes engines to any interested parties for $20 million. however, we are willing to negotiate for a lower price. we could also offer you a discount if you sign any current mercedes-benz junior driver on loan.
Ferrari are willing to negotiate contracts on a case-by-case basis through forum or PM, like other manufacturers prices will decrease if team takes one of our junior drivers or an Italian driver.
