Baldwin: Judd engine a "Crown Jewel" project for Commonwealth

CWG Data Collection boss David Baldwin, in an interview with McKinsey Quarterly published earlier today, spoke at length concerning the institutional importance placed on the success of the Judd engine programme by Commonwealth's leadership.

"Quite frankly, it [the Judd CFC programme] is one of the Group's 'Crown Jewels'", said Baldwin. "We expect the programme, along with all ancillary technologies and synergies generated, to fundamentally underpin several key Commonwealth projects scheduled for introduction in the 2020s and beyond, with a significance that extends well beyond its most visible applications in motor racing."

"CFC was intended from the outset, and concomitantly designed, to provision a robust, scalable, and versatile architecture to accommodate for as many relevant applications as possible, such that it would allow for efficient, concurrent development of multiple successor programmes aimed toward supplanting legacy technologies, including both our family of reciprocating power solutions, which remain extensively employed by Land Systems projects and other pertinent, strategic collaborations, and, arguably the heart of what we do as a Group, our hydrocarbon turbine products. Our decision as a Group to transition away from reciprocating platforms, and to eschew more conventional fuel cell solutions, in favour of an entirely novel hydrogen turbine architecture, has thus been predominantly driven by our diverse commitments across multiple, varied strategic sectors."

"These unique requirements, invariably, shape our design paradigms and development processes - which may sometimes deviate from the priorities that one might expect from a 'pure' motor racing project, shall we say. Engagement with Land Systems end-users, for instance, reinforced the primacy of unit availability and reliability as a key performance parameter, perhaps far more so than what might be expected from a more bespoke motor racing solution. Significant overlaps certainly exist - we would not have dedicated resources toward engineering a racing application, otherwise - but we would not have much incentive to commit significant resources toward exploring 'exotic' modes of extreme operational conditions, as an example; wherever possible, we would like to preserve intra-organisational design and development synergies."

"Beyond securing the future of the Commonwealth Group as a innovative, dynamic, and globally competitive organisation, we view the CFC programme as constituting a powerful, compelling signal of Commonwealth's commitment to meeting UK and global targets for a net-zero tomorrow."

Motor Development, Phase 6

Post by Klon »

To remind every works teams of the rules: you send your testing team out for two testing days and have them work on one of four things: motor power, which is the base BHP output of the motor; qualifying mode, which describes how much quicker your motor can go if fuel consumption is raised to the maximum; car failure probability, which states how likely it is for your motor to blow up or adversely affect other parts of a car and motor mass, which is the weight of your motor and how it negatively affects cornering speed.

Here is the current state in the development race

Unfortunately, the graph does not display BMW's and Toyota's last phase. An upgraded picture may come later.
As you know, you can add two "levels" every Grand Prix from now on (except after the season finale, where you will be able to add four levels (we'll get to that after the Chinese Grand Prix)). Each test day costs €1,000,000. Regardless of how many test days you use, you must have at least Lv. 1 for every aspect before the beginning of next season.

You are free to write in-character reports on your testing prowess without any limitation except maybe common sense. Those in-character reports will not affect any gameplay element of Alternate Formula One

Motor Development, Off-Season Phase / Options

Alright, this is the final act of motor development: one last time, you send your testing team out for four testing days and have them work on one of four things: motor power, which is the base BHP output of the motor; qualifying mode, which describes how much quicker your motor can go if fuel consumption is raised to the maximum; car failure probability, which states how likely it is for your motor to blow up or adversely affect other parts of a car and motor mass, which is the weight of your motor and how it negatively affects cornering speed.

Formula One wrote:Daniel Melrose Retires from Formula One after 18 Years

The news broke earlier today that Daniel Melrose would retire from motorsport to focus on managing the BMW works team. The Formula One community is united in appreciation of the Australian-German world champion and his amazing career.

"Daniel Melrose is one of the greatest Formula One drivers of all time," stated recently re-elected FIA president Alekos Kalogeropoulos, "his numbers speak for themselves. 32 victories, four world championships, all won before he even turned 26, a fastest lap on his debut at 18 years old."

"Even beyond that, still, was the always colourful personality of Melrose," he continued, "a man who never shied away from competing with the big dogs even before becoming one himself. His battles with names like James James Davies, Sammy Jones and Robert Kubica on and off the track are the stuff of legend."

"In recognition of his legendary career and its achievements, the value he had as an ambassador of motorsportt worldwide and the unique style he brought to the sport, the Formula Committee has decided that his racing number 73 will be retired from competition in Formula One and the Formula 2 World Championship."

Formula One is proud to announce that next week will feature the "Daniel Melrose Appreciation Week" on its official Youtube channel. During the Christmas week, seven of Daniel Melrose's greatest races will be replayed for free.to honour his illustrious career.

Schedule for Daniel Melrose Appreciation Week (stream for all races begins at 6:00 pm GMT):
Dec 20: 2003 SAP United States Grand Prix (Daniel Melrose's first podium)
Dec 21: 2005 Grand Prix de Monaco (Daniel Melrose's first victory)
Dec 22: 2008 Grand Prix du Canada (Daniel Melrose scores dominant hattrick to get ahead in the title race)
Dec 23: 2010 Gran Premio Mercedes-Benz del Uruguay I (Daniel Melrose scores dominant victory to set up title chance)
Dec 24: 2010 Gran Premio Mercedes-Benz del Uruguay II (Daniel Melrose wins fourth world title)
Dec 25: 2014 Motul British Grand Prix I (Daniel Melrose scores Marussia's then-best finish in his sole outing in 2014)
Dec 26: 2020 Gran Premio Shell de la República Argentina (Daniel Melrose takes the first comeback victory)

And with that piece, we end the 2021 season officially. The thread for 2022 will be opened later this week.
