f1rumours.net wrote:Johnnie Walker to Sponsor Pole and Fastest Lap Trophy

British beverage company Diageo has confirmed rumours that they will take over DHL's sponsorship of Formula One's "Pole Trophy" and "Fastest Lap Trophy" beginning with the 2022 season.

In a press release, the company stated that it was "proud to continue to associate "our premium Johnnie Walker brand with a sport of Formula One's class" and announced that the deal would be a seven-year contract.

f1rumours.net wrote:George Russell in High Demand?

According to an anonymous Formula Two source, George Russell has "almost every [Formula One] team after him" and will be expected to sign a contract with a top-running team in the winter. Russell, who rejected a debut with Dawson Grand Prix this season, is still going strong in the feeder series.

"Everyone has realised the youngster is going to be the next big thing in racing," the source continued, "so he really is spoilt for choice." Russell himself was not available for comment, but Blackcastle Sport, his commercial rights agency has, on enquiry by f1rumours.net, stated that "Russell will look to make the jump to F1."

To remind every works teams of the rules: you send your testing team out for two testing days and have them work on one of four things: motor power, which is the base BHP output of the motor; qualifying mode, which describes how much quicker your motor can go if fuel consumption is raised to the maximum; car failure probability, which states how likely it is for your motor to blow up or adversely affect other parts of a car and motor mass, which is the weight of your motor and how it negatively affects cornering speed.

Here is the current state in the development race

As you know, you can add two "levels" every Grand Prix from now on (except after the season finale, where you will be able to add four levels (we'll get to that after the Chinese Grand Prix)). Each test day costs €1,000,000. Regardless of how many test days you use, you must have at least Lv. 1 for every aspect before the beginning of next season.

Autosport.com wrote:North Star Racing set to buy Precision shares in shock deal

In a shock announcement this morning, a joint press conference with North Star Racing Group and Precision Motorsport revealed that the Reading outfit was to buy out the TRILUX shares and 20% more from Precision to become an owner in the team.

TRILUX had announced the selling of their stake a while back, but there were delays in securing the deal with North Star.

The team's new ownership structure will be 35% North Star, 30% Precision, 15% Formula Committee (through FOM), and 20% others.

North Star is a wealthy group funded by Sir Blake Clayton, with his financial status stemming from the weapons industry. His son, Jack Clayton, now runs the organization, and the team is involved in multiple open and closed wheel racing, including a bid to start a new NASCAR outfit in 2022.

North Star Racing has an interesting history in Formula One, having originally entered back in the late 70s and trundling around in pre-qualifying before merging with the stronger Arrows team.

For now, the constructor name will continue as Precision, but the new entrant name will be North Star Precision Motorsport and the change in name will be reflected at the beginning of the new season.

www.f1rumours.net wrote:Bosch Earns Formula One Transmission Bid

In the most recent of Formula One's attempts at reducing costs through standardised parts, the Formula Committee has announced it has tasked Bosch Mobility Solutions to design a three-speed gearbox to replace the Ferrari-designed automatic transmission.

The new design will be introduced in "2023 or 2024", depending on the feedback of the teams and the speed of development. As part of the deal, all Formula One teams will be supplied at reduced rates in exchange for sponsorship on all vehicles.

www.f1rumours.net wrote:Vote Confirms Formula Committee Reformation

In the most recent meeting of the World Motor Sport Council, it was confirmed that the current iteration of the newly-formed Formula Committee, the corporate remnants of Formula One Management and the remaining companies of the Formula One Group will be merged at the end of 2022, with precise steps not publicly announced to protect business interests.

The decision will leave the commercial management of the sport in a single corporate entity that will be going public after the conclusion of the merger. The launch at Euronext Paris is planned, but will be subject to a future vote. This new company, tentatively labeled Société Internationale de l'Automobile Anonyme (SIA), would report directly to a board of directors and the active FIA president.

www.f1rumours.net wrote:Trulli Signing Met With Criticism

On the eve of the Singapore Grand Prix, the main topic of discussion was Ferrari letting Dave Cassidy go and replacing him with Italian veteran Jarno Trulli. The move was mostly met with criticism of Ferrari and the FIA.

"It's ridiculous, really," said 2001 world champion Ralf Schumacher in his role as an expert for Sky Deutschland, "Jarno is older than me. His practice times were miserable, so I don't know what made Ferrari think that was a good idea. I don't know what made the FIA think it was a good idea to let him drive."

"I know some of the things going on behind the scenes that led to the decision to part ways with Dave Cassidy," commented former Ferrari driver Alexandre-Laurent Voeckler, "but Trulli? Does not make any sense to me."

"Formula One always had a problem with old parasites hanging on its teets," commented Kay Lon on his facebook page, "but this is ridiculous even by those standards. Thinking back to the time when I cheered for Michael Schumacher and James James [Davies] and comparing it to what Ferrari would become, it makes me feel ashamed to have owned Ferrari merch."

"It's one thing for Ferrari to do their ex-driver a favour," an unnamed source from another works team said, "but I do not, for the life of me, understand how the FIA granted Trulli a superlicense in the first place."

Ferrari themselves have refused to comment and have made the decision to not make Trulli available to the public until the end of qualifying 1 on Friday night, the first time they cannot withdraw the Italian driver from press duties.

www.f1rumours.net wrote:Johnnie Walker to Bring Formula One to Georgia?

According to our sources, NASCAR may be on the verge of finding a solution for the future of the United States Grand Prix. The original plan to host the race at the road course of Homestead–Miami Speedway fell apart after local sponsorship fell through.

Still holding on to the 2023 contract (and being bound to pay the fees), Jim France was first considering to expand the facilities of the Kansas Speedway to make it suitable for Formula One to race on the road course before a new sponsor appeared on the horizon.

British beverage company Diageo, who are looking to significantly up their investment in motorsport marketing, are apparently willing to provide sponsorship for an American Grand Prix held at Road Atlanta. An announcement is expected before the end of the season.

Motor Development, Phase 5

Post by Klon »

You are free to write in-character reports on your testing prowess without any limitation except maybe common sense. Those in-character reports will not affect any gameplay element of Alternate Formula One

Calinetic driver Daniel Melrose has today confirmed that he will be stepping down from driving at the team, effective immediately. The former world champion cited that the increasing workload with the development of a brand new BMW engine for 2022 as the reason for standing aside for the end of the season.

"Firstly, the team has done an incredible job this year given what we had to work with, and to get three points is just rewards for their effort this year." said Melrose. "As far as I'm concerned however, I'm done with driving this year. There's much work that needs to be done behind the scenes with the new engine, which I have to give my full attention to."

Melrose was quick to name his replacement, with Calinetic test driver Einar Ármannsson being given the nod to drive the car for the final two races of the season.

"Einar has been the consummate professional all through this year, and he was the natural choice to step up at short notice." said Melrose. "We know he will do well with the opportunity, and it's a just reward for him to be given the chance to race our cars."

While the team are yet to confirm their full 2022 lineup, it's widely tipped that Ármannsson will step up to full-time driving alongside incumbent Jules Bianchi for next season.

A short statement from Toyota Motorsport after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix confirmed rumours that Valtteri Bottas would stay on for the 2022 season. The 32-year-old Finn has enjoyed a decent showing in the Japanese marque's sophomore year since its return to the sport, with 24 points compared to his teammate Kazuki Nakajima's six. The factory team is hoping to build on its 8th place in the 2021 WCC, no doubt inspired by its customer team BR Mansell which is still fighting for both championships.

They also confirmed rumours about Nakajima returning back to Japan for the upcoming season, with the second seat still being vacant. One Twitter poll from a famous F1 YouTuber suggested that Terry Hawkin could be the main favourite to take the Japanese driver's place.
