GT Super Series 2020 - Karjala GP Report -> RejectSport

Post by RealRacingRoots »

Even if the 2019 GTSS campaign finished weeks after the real one would have, the show must go on. The 2020 Rolex GT Super Series is here.

Background Info

The GT Super Series (named the GT-R World Championship in 2016/17) is a World Championship run by the WMS Group with Terrance Carter as its commissioner. In the championship, the cars that are raced are akin to the real life LMGT1 cars of the mid-2000s with Original Equipment Manufactures either running factory operations themselves or contracting out factory rights to qualified teams, or supplying cars out to customers to run independently without direct support. The manufactures use the series as a marketing platform for their halo products, a financially driven customer program or as a testbed for future concepts and ideas in a series where their interests are at the forefront. Each individual car will be driven by two drivers during the two hour race, with the starting driver also being designated to do qualifying. Factory cars will also be highlighted by having some of the best race drivers on the planet with Independent entries having restrictions and rules based on who drives them in the races. Races are run in GTR 2 – FIA GT Racing Game and utilizes its capabilities for weather and its modernized physics set. The physical cars used in the carset are from that era of LMGT1 racing and are intended not to be taken at face value. (In case that wasn't already apparent)

Basic Rules

Every user is entitled to run two cars full time and a third part time; with a maximum of two cars per team. Meaning they can run two fully independent of each other one-car programs full time.

Part-Time cars are entitled to enter four races each season, spanning a maximum of two continents (Europe, North America, South America, or Asia) as well as any special events the series may have.

Users who enter the series full-time will do so via the Car Allotment System at the beginning of the year. It is a six step process created to ensure no stone gets left un-turned and no one gets screwed out of a entry as much as they thought they did.

Based on their status in the series the previous season, users will enter at different points of the system.

Each car has a different amount of examples available, with some having special conditions for added entries. (like part-time only entries)

When they enter, teams get to choose their tire brand of choice they will use for the duration of the year. Tires have different performance capabilities and availability depending on car, with some tire makers having factory entires which gives those cars a small performance boost.

The drivers that teams will enter come with a ranking based on previous racing experience and their age. They are Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum, lowest rank to highest. Platinum drivers can only be used in Factory Entries and weight ballast penalties are placed on independent cars that use Gold Rank drivers. Part-time entries can only have one Gold ranked driver in their roster and no Platinum ranked drivers outright.

Independent entries will have to run in a Pre-Qualifying session if the full entry list for a weekend is more than 30, with the slowest cars in the session (how ever many more total entries than there are race slots) not advancing to the rest of the weekend.

Each race weekend has one 30 Minute Pre-Qualifying Session, two 60 Minute Practice Sessions, one 20 Minute Qualifying Session and the 120 Minute long Race unless it is a special event.

Points are awarded for overall finishing position and position in class. For the outright Driver's and Team's Championships points are awarded with 15 going to first overall, then 12-10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 for the rest of the Top 10. In the Independents and Manufactures Championships 10 points are awarded for first in class, then 9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 for the rest of the Top 10 with an additional points on offer for Independent entries if they finish in the top 5 overall, with 5 for first then 4-3-2-1 for the rest of the Top 5.

More detailed rules will be seen in upcoming posts as they become relevant in the pre-season process.

And oh yeh, this is my show. At the end of the day, anything and everything goes through me. Otherwise have fun trying to make this DM do what you want him to do.

Tl;Dr – You enter cars and drivers when you are allowed to, and I am The Game and you don't want to play me. (But enter this series tho seriously)

Rules and Game Mechanics Changes for 2020:

*Clarification: Part-Time Entries are free to enter any special event without it counting to their maximum of four appearances for the season.

*The Minimum Weight for the cars has been raised by 30 Kilos, to 1230 Kilos. Therefore, the Minimum Weight of a Gold/Silver or Bronze pairing Independent car is now 1240 Kilos, and a Gold/Gold pairing Independent car is now 1250 Kilos.

*Some cars that have been in the series in prior years will now be able to use all four of the current contemporary tire makes that are available, those being Dunlop, Falken, Michelin and Pirelli. The cars that have not been given extra tire manufactures to use will be because the cars are leaving the homologation list within the next couple seasons. As of right now, Bridgestone is set to be exclusive to the Nissan GTR GTM.

*Mid-Season Driver Improvements will now be possible. Incremental increases in the driver stats that change when a driver gets a promotion or demotion in their ranking will happen throughout the season depending on individual performance.

*The Mercedes-AMG SLR GTM has been added to the homologation list, and the Nissan GTR GTM has been granted temporary homologation on a per-race basis. While the Corvette C5-R's homologation will expire after the Molson GT Gatineau. All teams that intend to use the C5-R are warned that they must have plans in place once it's homologation expires. The Pagani Zonda GR has been replaced by the Pagani Zonda FR. There will be additional cars added to the homologation list, but for now here is the current Homologation list.

Aston Martin DBR9
Chevrolet Corvette C5-R - Expires after Molson GT Gatineau
Chevrolet Corvette C6.R
Ferrari 550 Maranello
Ferrari 575 GTC - Last season of Homologation
Ford GT GTM
Lister Storm - Last season of Homologation
Nissan GTR GTM - Temporary (RAC TT, Belgium, Japan Only)
Pagani Zonda FR
Maserati MC12 GTM Evo
Mercedes-AMG SLR GTM
Saleeen S7-R
Lamborghini Murciealago R-GT

Cars no longer Homologated:

Chrysler Viper GTS-R
Maserati MC12 GTM
Pagani Zonda GR
Porsche 911 GTM

*As ya'll may or may not be aware, a lot of the series within the PMMF and ASMF wound down in the last year and change or so because of various circumstances. In the past, within the canonical ASMF it was seen that went a series is stopped being run, there would be a major shift of all the teams and drivers that were in it to other series that continued to run as it was implied the other series was dead in canon as well. But due to the fact that most everything has stopped actively being run, I don't think the major shift would be fair to those that current remain active. What I am saying, is that just because the series isn't being run actively doesn't mean that it's not still happening in the background of the canon. Including AWRS, IndyCar ,FIA EC, etc. Please respect this notion when making your entries. I do not want to see the likes of Mark Dagnall, BvN, Terry Hawkin, etc showing up in GTSS or F1 out of the blue. And if there are drivers you want to see transition, make a good case for it; I am open to a lot of things.

GT Super Series joins Nissan's Motorsport plans for 2020

Nissan announced their expanded factory motorsports portfolio in Yokohama, Japan, which now includes a toe in the water entry into the GT Super Series.

Joining Nissan's factory and customer efforts in the FIA Endurance Championship, and continued participation in the top class of the Pacific Endurance Series, Nissan will enter three rounds of this year's Rolex GT Super Series championship to aid in development before a full-time effort will be run in 2021. The car, based on the Nissan GTR, will be run with a temporary homologation for each round and be operated out of NISMO's UK base in Silverstone. The car has been testing in Japan and will be shipped to the UK where the RAC Tourist Trophy will be it's first race of the season. The Nissan GTR GTM will also race at Spa-Francorchamps and at Nissan's home race in Suzuka, Japan.

Piloting the GTR for the three rounds will be Frank van Nifterick and Fabian Rei. Van Nifterick was one half of the Independent's Champions in the inaugural season of GTSS competition in 2016 with the short-lived Team Rojo. After Team Rojo closed, he signed on as a Nissan factory driver and joined their customer racing programs, before being a part of their factory prototype effort in the FIA Endurance Championship. Fabian Rei is a new signing for Nissan and comes off of a 4 year run as a part of the factory Lister team in GT Super Series. The South Korean had four wins in the series and finished second in the World Driver's Championship in 2017 behind Ricardo Llosa and Jordan McKenna.

The debut of the GTR GTM at the RAC Tourist Trophy in mid-April will also see the series debut of Bridgestone tires, with the Japanese tire maker becoming an exclusive supplier for Nissan in the series.

Should I join this waitlist?

I've nothing to lose, so I'm asking to join this waitlist.

You can check past seasons in the forumlarejects site for fictional drivers to try to hire/get to drive for your team.

thank you...however, I sadly realised that some biographies for the drivers are not updated, and I have no way to know which one is available...i already have a few drivers in mind, though...especially that pierre st. Laurent kid. not only because he's French Canadian like me, but he's actually pretty damn good!

EDIT: never mind, I downloaded the fodder.

RE-EDIT: just rechecked the formula rejects website and I found out valtteri bottas is not in F1 in 2020!

is this series for fictional drivers only or can real life drivers compete in it? cause I'm going for bottas if that's the case

Ok soo GT Super Series is a fictional-only driver series. At the same time, there are restrictions upon which drivers can drive a Independent's Class (where you'll be at when you enter) car. You can also use the search function on any names you find on the forum as well as on the wiki to see what they've been up to. Hopefully the user who runs that driver is still around.

And I will add you to the reserve list.

:glasses: ok thank you!

I've read that there is a ballast penalty for hiring a gold driver. does that affect the car's performance?

EDIT: In the folder, it says that French driver zenaide voeckler is open to any offer and willing to try anything, yet he's not in the driver ranking list. is he available? if so, what ranking does he have?

So, you are allowed to pick drivers from outside of the Classifications Listings posted? Also in that same table, what does "Claimable DEC" mean?

The Classification Listing is the driver rankings for each driver that has raced in the series, which means you can pick drivers from outside that. It just means they'll be added to the 2020 page of the spreadsheet when that time comes.

The ones that have the Claimable DEC status means that they're drivers I made during the 2017 season in case anybody wants a driver that they can keep for their own, in case you don't wanna go through the effort of finding drivers to hire. They were also made partially because I do want to frown upon drivers making their debut within the forum in the series. If you want any of them for your program, let me know when the time comes.

Ah I see, so you're more or less encouraged to go out and find your own drivers in this table I presume? (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1KB1eI5_rPwUBlxH_9mRp0InGwZShGUSfW04qAucb_iI/edit#gid=0) As well as picking from the drivers who had entered previous seasons.

I fear, given a non-existent feeder structure, that this attitude is somewhat unsustainable unless you want to exclusively hope/wait for Alt-F1 dropouts. I mean, for the time being we have more than enough drivers to pick from, but yeah...

Re: GT Super Series 2020 - Entries Soon

Post by RealRacingRoots »

Here is the rundown of the Car Allotment System before we get going with entries in a few days. It's a multi-step system for entering the GTSS based on your status from last season. It's done to try and alleviate people getting screwed over by a first-come first-served system as much as possible. Here is the order:

1 - Factory Teams are Allotted, they will be allotted either by me giving the teams the cars, or RNGd out depending on the Manufacture involved.

2 - Independent Teams from last year that wish to stay with their current car count or move down to one full-time car from two, or users that want to run two separate one car teams that use the same car. Part-Time Teams from last year that are continuing on as Part-Time with the same car can also enter here.

3 - Independent Teams from last year moving from one car to two or using a new car altogether and Users wishing to directly transfer car(s) they control to another user, then each team confirm their plans. Users who were in the series the previous year full time can also completely start fresh with a new team(s) and car(s) here.

4 - Part-Time Teams from the year prior that want to go full time, regardless if it's with the same car they had last year or not.

5 - Users on the Reserve List who didn't enter through Step 4 or on a Step 3 transfer can enter either full-time or part-time.

6 - Users not on the Reserve list, or users already with one full-time car who want to enter a separate one-car team full time. As a reminder, users can run two wholly separate one-car full time operations that use the same car. Part-Time entries can enter now if they didn't do so in Step 2 with whatever cars remain.

If we hit the full-time entry cap of 36 at anytime the process will end for the season, with part-time entries still being permitted to enter. There is a maximum of four spots for part-time entries outside of special events.

The cars that are available alongside how many examples are initially available and remain are on the Car Allotment Data Sheet here and will be updated as each entry is submitted. Yes, it is first come, first serve but with this system it shouldn't be as much of a issue at it could be elsewhere. When it reaches the Step where you are involved, you will enter using this entry sheet:

Team Name (Nationality):
Car:
Tires: (Please say if you are a Pirelli/Dunlop runner and you want to apply to be their factory team)
Car X Drivers: TBA/TBA
Car Y Drivers: TBA/TBA (For those running two cars)
Livery Idea (say if you'll do your own):
Part-Time Appearances: Up to four races across two continents, plus Baku and/or Karjala if you wish to do them.

Each tire brand has different grip levels for each of the 6 compounds, with two of the compounds getting bonuses for the factory outfit. All the Manufacture Trophy teams that use Michelin will be granted the factory rubber, while one Pirelli and Dunlop team will get factory status as a result of RNG, Team Falken Tire will obviously have the factory Falken rubber, and Bridgestone factory status will be with the NISMO team.

The tire availability and basic tire characteristics are as follows:

Tire Availability
Aston Martin DBR9 - Dunlop, Falken, Michelin, Pirelli
Chevrolet Corvette C6.R - Dunlop, Falken, Michelin, Pirelli
Chevrolet Corvette C5.R - Dunlop, Michelin, Pirelli
Ferrari 550 Maranello - Dunlop, Michelin, Pirelli

Mercedes-AMG SLR GTM - Dunlop, Falken, Michelin, Pirelli
Nissan GTR GTM - Bridgestone, Dunlop, Falken, Michelin, Pirelli
Pagani Zonda FR - Pirelli
Saleen S7-R - Dunlop, Falken, Michelin, Pirelli

General Tire Characteristics:
(Specific Data towards Compound Strengths won't be made public.)

Bridgestone: Best Compound - Monsoon Wet, Worst Compound - Soft, Factory Boosted Compounds - Soft + Medium
Dunlop: Best Compound - Hard, Worst Compound - Soft, Factory Boosted Compounds - Medium + Intermediate
Falken: Best Compound - Monsoon Wet, Worst Compound - Soft, Factory Boosted Compounds - Soft + Hard
Michelin: Best Compound - Intermediate, Worst Compound - Wet, Factory Boosted Compounds - Soft + Monsoon Wet
Pirelli: Best Compound - Soft, Worst Compound - Wet, Factory Boosted Compounds - Medium + Wet

Stage 1 will get underway shortly. If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask.

Independent entries get a extra 10 Kilos added to their cars minimum weight per Gold rated driver. It's barely noticeable depending on the pairing, but it's a system I prefer to what's doing on in real SRO/ACO racing.

okay.

I see that the ford GT LM has no factory team yet. if I have my team drive the two ford GT, does that make my team the De facto factory team? or, since I'm new here, I can only enter as an independent?

The rule is that factory status is allotted out by me during Stage 1 of the allotment process. Theoretically speaking if Kevinbotz doesn't want to continue or they flunked out of running the factory Fords, which won't be the case, it would either be RNGd out to interested suitors to be a factory team they'd be out in the open as cars for independent entries.

Car Allotment System - Stage 1 (Factory Teams)

Post by RealRacingRoots »

(Klon, you will need to wait your turn)

Link to the Car Allotment Data can be found here when you click on the 2020 season tab, the link also includes how many for each individual car is available.

This is Stage One of the Car Allotment System, which is all about the teams battling for the Manufacture's Trophy. These cars are earned or given, rather than swooped up by the teams entering full time on a first-come, first-served basis. And as a result all the info pertaining each OEM's entry will be in this post. There are six manufactures with factory teams this year full time with Lister pulling back Factory-Status from GP Racing before they'll pull out from the series entirely at the end of 2020. GP Racing will be able to enter via Stage 2 or 3 depending on their plans. For the rest of the OEMs, here are their plans. (In alphabetical order of their OEMs)

Aston Martin won the 2019 Manufacture's Trophy by 19 points over 2018 Manufacture's Trophy champions Lamborghini, and as a result they are more than happy to retain the services of Ravenwest Motorsport and the team that has operated as Gulf Racing. Gulf Racing, however, has confirmed they will be changing their team name after the naming rights deal with Gulf Oil expired at the end of 2019 with the team maintaining their entry in the series.

MinardiFan, please confirm your plans for factory Aston outfit.

Team Name (Nationality): Ravenwest Motorsport (American)
Car (Factory Status): Aston Martin DBR9 (Factory Team)
Tires: Michelin (Therefore a Factory Michelin team)
Car 2 Drivers: Nathan McKane (Scottish) - Andrej Kremnicky (Slovakian)

Chevrolet move ahead to working with Carson Speedworks for a third season, with the team in contention for wins and championships before a run of bad luck was dealt to them in the final flyaways. The big change for the Henrik Carson-run operation is the poaching of Pagani's MVP Anton Robishaud to drive the 64 alongside Li Qi.

Team Name (Nationality): Carson Speedworks (American)
Car (Factory Status): Chevrolet Corvette C6.R (Factory Team)
Tires: Michelin (Therefore a Factory Michelin team)
Car 63 Drivers: Joey Alliot (American) - Jacques Malenfant (French)
Car 64 Drivers: Li Qi (Chinese) - Anton Robishaud (Canadian)

Ferrari continue their long-standing partnership with BMS Scuderia Italia. Scuderia Italia was able to steal third in the Manufacture's Trophy away from Chevrolet late in the season after their victory in Zhuhai, China with the aging Ferrari 550 Maranello. The 550 being set to be replaced for 2021.

Team Name (Nationality): BMS Scuderia Italia (Italian)
Car (Factory Status): Ferrari 550 Maranello (Factory Team)
Tires: Pirelli (Will apply to be factory Pirelli team)
Car 27 Drivers: Evgeny Restov (Russian) - Valeri Kozar (Russian)
Car 28 Drivers: Andrea Constantini (Italian) - Enrico Molinaro (Italian)

Ford made their debut in the series in 2019 and after a slow start, were the team to beat with CWG Team Macmillan come the second half and look set to continue that momentum into 2020. Ford will retain the services of Team MacMillan..

Kevinbotz, please confirm your plans for CWG Team MacMillan.

Lamborghini enter 2020 as back to back World Driver's and Team's champions with Racing Team Solvalou but unable to defend their Manufacture's Trophy honors from 2018. Naturally, the Lamborhini-Solvalou partnership will continue for a fifth season.

Team Name (Nationality): Racing Team Solvalou (Italian)
Car (Factory Status): Lamborghini Murciealago R-GT (Factory Team)
Tires: Michelin (Therefore a Factory Michelin team)
Car 01 Drivers: Chris Winter (American) - Morgan Le Fay (English)
Car 03 Drivers: Emma Pescatore (Italian) - Antonio Fazio (Italian)

Nissan have announced a part-time entry for 2020 as part of their preparations for a full-time 2021 Factory Entry. While they will be classified for Manufacture's Trophy points and are able to use Platinum-rated drivers, they will have to do Pre-Qualifying for each event due to being part-time.

Team Name (Nationality): Nissan Motorsport International (Japanese)
Car: Nissan GTR GTM
Tires: Bridgestone (Factory Team)
Car 23 Drivers: Frank van Nifterick (Netherlands) - Fabian Rei (South Korean)
Part-Time Appearances: RAC Tourist Trophy, Belgium, Japan

Lastly, Pagani will keep trucking along with their in-house program. They will be bringing a new iteration of their Zonda supercar for 2020, made wholly in-house after the previous generation was made by a external contractor for the 2016 season.

Team Name (Nationality): Pagani Automobili S.p.A. (Italian)
Car (Factory Status): Pagani Zonda FR (Factory Team)
Tires: Pirelli (Will apply to be factory Pirelli team)
Car 24 Drivers: Amato Agostini (Italian) - Giulio Mari (Italian)
Car 25 Drivers: Felix Horvath (Austrian) - TBC

MinardiFan and Kevinbotz have until Saturday, January 25th at 1200 hours pst to post their plans. If not they will be RNGd off to prospective teams. Series templates, including the mandatory number plate and font required for said plate can be found here.

There presently no intention for there to be a factory Maserati outfit. Gotta wait a little bit longer before entering yourself. As well as make sure that the drivers that you intend to sign get all cleared if their owner's are still around.

It'll be Stage 5 - users on the Reserve List that didn't have a pre-requisite to enter from last season.

in that case, I'll change my driver line-ups to TBD except Nathan scott, cause I really want him. I'll name my other drivers according to my future available options.

also, Biscione, the owner of both Zénaïde Voeckler and jans zeitner, two drivers I want, is apparently not on this site anymore, so I can't confirm any deals with his drivers. can I still bid for them?

also, which available cars can give factory support?

Your stage system sucks. :P

Kazama is approved, assuming she is free to compete in open-wheel races on off-weekends.
