Alt-WSBK 89: Ride On Time

Post by Kinnikuniverse »

WORLD SUPERBIKES ARE BACK!

After a long and grueling winter, the FIM World Superbike Championship, presented by Flammini Group, will kick off its second season of high-flying, death-defying production motorcycle action following a successful first season, with australian Mick Doohan barely beating fred merkel for the title.

With the gold coast native now racing for honda in 500cc world championship, this year's title is anybody's game, with the 7 manufacturers taking part all bringing their latest machinery in order to achieve their ultimate goal.

NEW BIKES AND A NEW MANUFACTURER!

Ducati, Honda and Manufacturers champions Bimota will enter this year's series with updated verions of their current bikes, same with Suzuki and yamaha, the latter building a new and much improved version of their FZR750 bike, titled the OW01,which is rumoured to have the most powerful engine on the grid.

Kawasaki, meanwhile, has unveiled a brand new bike, the Ninja ZXR-750. The japanese brand put a lot of resources into building this bike after finishing last in the manufacturer standings despite doug chandler's win at hockenheim, with factory team manager rob muzzy saying that they believe they will crack the top 3 this year.

A new name enters the sport: british firm Norton enters its new 750cc version of its revolutionary rotary-engined RCW 588 bike. Chief Engineer Brian Crighton, who will run the Factory team, said that Norton entering WSBK is the first step towards achieving worldwide recognition for british motorcycle savoir-faire, and he also said that they are still looking to enter the original RCW588 in the 500cc World championship in the near future.

SCHEDULE REVEALED!

FG Sport leader Maurizio Flammini has revealed the confirmed schedule for the 1989 WSBK Season:

Alt-WSBK 89 Schedule

2. Hungaroring -april 29-30
3. Hockenheim -may 7-8

10. Estoril - august 5-6

The schedule remains mostly the same, with the only changes being the round of Italy going from misano to imola due to the italian GP going to the former, while circuit paul ricard host the french round, with the date also changed so as to not clash with the french GP at le mans.

I would like to take up Rob Muzzy Racing. I'll have a look at how we did last year and see about what to do for this year.

Flor Bath Honda will be continuing in some capacity, though I am still deliberating on the nature of the operation for 1989.

Hi.

So this thread is now on hold for the foreseeable future, for obvious reasons. I'm gonna do other things for the time being. There may come a time where i'd be interested in running this again, albeit most likely starting a new alt-WSBK 89 thread from scratch. Thank you for your understanding.
