Team principal Jacques Couteau has unveiled an app that will allow fans to collect clues at each venue, which will allow them to solve a puzzle to gain access to the village, which will be known as Jonestown.

"The app will give fans a starting point, and they will collect clues to get access to Jonestown," Couteau said.

"Jonestown will allow for a truly communal experience in which fans can enjoy the race with our range of Jacques & The Beanstalk coffees and local delicacies."

When asked about the naming of the fan village, and its overwhelming similarity to the former Jonestown commune in Guyana in which the murder-suicide of over 900 people took place, Couteau brushed off any links between the two.

"Sure, the names are similar but there is no relationship between the two. But I imagine that won't stop people from criticising us."

The recently reformed AutoGP Commission today have announced that the series will be rebranded as the "AutoGP World Series presented by Goodride" starting in 2021. The series has been reborn from the remaining assets of the ARWS season, capping off a remarkable 12 months for the category after being embroiled in the Leonhard von Gottorp scandal.

New AutoGP Commissioner Tom Douglas, a former F1 driver and GT team owner, made the announcement, signalling the beginning of a new era for the sport.

"The time is right for a new start in open wheel racing, and the rebrand to AutoGP is an important first step to that." said Douglas. "It's been a tumultuous year for everyone, but we are now coming out the other side, and we envisage a bright future for the series. We'd also like to thank Goodride for coming on board as a presenting partner and official tyre supplier for the new championship, and we hope to announce more partners in the coming weeks."

While there is yet to be any official announcements regarding a new rule package and calendar, it has been heavily rumoured that the series will focus on reducing costs, improving competition and bringing an American-style focus on entertainment value of the series.
