Steffi Schmidt, rolling her eyes at her team manager's inability to secure a manufacturer deal gets on the phone to Nissan.

"Moshi moshi? Yes it's Steffi Schmidt from Monster Schmidt Racing Team here. We'd like to purchase three Nismo GT-Rs, GT3 spec. Ship them out to Magny-Cours at your earliest convenience. Have you considered manufacturer involvement in the Women's GT Masters series? We are a team ready to win with your support. No? Well perhaps you'll change your mind once you see what we're capable of. I'll be in touch."

KV Racing Technology is interested in knowing which factory drivers Chevrolet is offering for the Women's GT Masters. If they wish to go for 2nd in the Constructors Championship the team wants to know if the drivers would be up to snuff.

(Also, this is my time to ask if I need to post up to 6 options to put my "Faulty Perception" rule into effect).

Chevrolet is a subsidiary company of General Motors (GM) in my fictional universe as well, but I've made one simple change to history itself: Instead of GM buying up Opel during the great depression of the 1930's, it was the other way around. Well, not exactly straight away, as both companies first established a 50/50 partnership to become the biggest car manufacturer worldwide.

More on that part of fictional history in the 2nd season of the WTCC, because it's not really important right now. To make a long story short: You can already monitor the development of your soon-to-be factory drivers over in the WTCC, because it's going to be the best two ladies in the Opel team, namely Jasmin Preisig and Melanie Schulz, who will make even bigger progress during Season 2, including some quite impressive wins, if I may put some spoilers out there. ;)

And about the Faulty Perception: No, you're still good, since that bad habit only works with people, as stated by the rules:

Bad Habit 3: Faulty Perception (D6)
Your character is not too good when it comes to judging other people. When you’re on the hunt for new staff members or drivers, this bad habit may strike (roll of the D6) and adds 1 to 6 random new people to your list of staff members/drivers you want to hire, should there be less than 6 names on said list. Then, instead of you getting to choose by your own will, you must roll the D6 again. It randomly picks the new staff member/driver from your list for you. You might not like who you’re getting, but your character believes it to be the perfect choice.

So, the Faulty Perception is not going to screw you over on the factory deal itself, but possibly later on when you hire additional staff and drivers (as you need 4 of those). That would be starting from the next chapter onwards, unfortunately for you. :)

BKR Motorsport will gladly accept the Ascari manufacturer deal, as most of our prize money will probably end up in a casino anyway giving up some for free spares repairs and upgrades seems like a good deal.

Alright, since everyone has already posted, I’ve decided to cut the deadline short by one day. Here are all of your individual manufacturer/customer deals. They will also be noted on the official entry list on page 1 of this thread.

Additional options are now available for certain customer deals (see below). All these are options, as the name suggests, so in other words: you’re not obligated to fulfil any of these. Sometimes these options can even be counterproductive to what your overall goals might be. But that’s for you to decide.

In exchange, the team gets 50% off of all repairs over the course of this season. We would also welcome it, if Miura could be partnered with an experienced mentor, so that she can learn as much as possible from this venture. No need to decide right away! Once the driver hiring process begins, we will get back to you for further negotiations.

Finishing Touches on the NPTs

I’ve also made final adjustments to the NPTs, all depending on the manufacturer choices you just made. Don’t be surprised to see some NPTs completely changing from their original version. It takes quite some effort to not make them too competitive, while also not falling into the other extreme (too weak) at the same time.

Next up: Information Chapter about our Fictional Timeline

I know that I’ve probably confused some of you already with my rather vague hints to a fictional timeline that is not properly explained anywhere thus far. For example when I mention a Season 2 above, while the Women’s GT Masters currently is in its inaugural season.

I think it’s time to change this. The fictional timeline is finally ready and I’ll explain it in detail in the upcoming post, before we then move on to hire some race engineers for your teams.

Don’t worry, it’s not going to be a massive change – just some necessary adjustments to let everything I’m currently working on fall into place. Nothing you have done over the past few months will be in danger because of this. On the contrary, actually, but more on that in the upcoming chapter.

Said info chapter will be up on Friday the 24th! In the meantime, please doublecheck for any mistakes I might have made in the post above. :)

Well, you're a little early, because hiring drivers is still a bit further away. First the info chapter, then the race engineers, then the tyre suppliers, and then the drivers.

But don't worry - I'll definitely make a note that you're willing to take Miura. Though, we need to see what AustralianStig's plans are, given he's the second Nissan customer team and thus has received the same offer. Maybe he wants Miura, too, and then we'll have a small race to see who gets her. ;)

Dexter249 wrote:Just a Question, what is this being Simulated on? GTR2?

Nope, good old-fashioned D20 RPG system with pen and paper. Quite tedious when you're doing this lap by lap, which you have to in order to get it right, but the best option when there isn't any suitable videogame out there. This way I can use every track in existence, if I can find trustworthy lap times, that is. And every car as well - again, depending on the data I can gather.

I believe it's somewhat similiar to using an Excel spreadsheet, though I've never really tried that. :)

Don't worry, you won't have to agree to anything until the driver market opens. That's exactly why I wrote: "Once the driver hiring process begins, we will get back to you for further negotiations." I only brought up these options now, so that all of you can incorporate them into your future plans, if you want to. Again, these are only options, not requirements. :)

Women's GT Masters - Season 03 - Fictional Timeline

Post by Turbogirl »

Information Chapter: The Fictional Timeline

Okay, it’s finally time to talk about this topic, since I might have already caused enough chaos by mentioning it here and there in the past without ever going fully into detail. And there was a reason for that, as I’m about to explain.

As you know, my fictional universe is not supposed to recreate any real-life season we know, but instead creating a few completely new ones. That also lead to the introduction of the Women’s Touring Car Championship (WTCC) over in the Black Stig Memorial Forum a while back, which some of you might even be following.

That series also started with a „Season 1“, just like the Women’s GT Masters did – until now! We’re not following any fictional year (like 2XX1, 2XX2, etc.), but Seasons 1, 2, 3, etc. from now on. Like when someone says: „Hey, it’s 2012!“, in my fictional universe they would say: „Hey, it’s Season 2!“

This list will make it easier for you to comprehend:

Season 01
WTCC (already in motion over at the Black Stig)

Season 02
WTCC (coming soon to the Black Stig)
Lotus Ladies Cup (coming soon to the Black Stig)

Season 03
WTCC (currently in development)
Lotus Ladies Cup (currently in development)
Women’s GT Masters (this is where we are right now!)

Season 04
This is where we might go on to be in the future...

(You will also find this list in the opening post of this thread from now on.)

So please don’t be surprised to see me renaming this thread „Women’s GT Masters – Season 03“ instead of what it’s called right now. It’s still the inaugural season of the Women’s GT, and basically nothing really changes for any of you. Trust me: Nothing in the WTCC or the Lotus Ladies Cup will ruin or spoil what you’re currently building here.

On the contrary: I’ve already promised CaptainGetz12 that his Chevrolet factory drivers will be recruited from the best of the best the Opel works team in the WTCC has to offer, and the Lotus Ladies Cup, a 6-race-jointventure with the WTCC, will do exactly the same for V8fan12 and his factory-backed Lotus team. His soon-to-be factory drivers will come from that series.

Neither the WTCC nor the Lotus Ladies Cup will become playable series at any point, simply because I like to work on them at my own pace, and I also need (and want) certain events to happen a certain way in order to increase the competition in the Women’s GT Masters series. I had two player-centered series at the same time before, and while they were both fun, they were also quite exhausting. I like my current schedule much more!

In conclusion: While you and the Women’s GT will venture through the next chapters of teambuilding (race engineers, tyre suppliers, drivers, etc.), I’ll be working in the background on finishing as much of the WTCC and the Lotus Ladies Cup as I can without putting too much pressure on me. That way all of you interested in a little fictional history can jump to the Black Stig whenever they have the time to catch up on past events that will have quite an impact on the current Women’s GT Masters series.

So, a direct shoutout to CaptainGetz12 and V8fan12, unless you’re already following any of my aforementioned side projects: Come on over anytime you like and monitor the progress of your soon-to-be factory drivers! You won’t regret it, I promise! Same goes for anyone interested in a future working relationship with Audi, BMW, or Mercedes-Benz, because all available factory drivers will also be hand-picked from their WTCC line-ups.

Next up: Hiring race engineers

Before anyone asks: Yes, I’ve dropped the chief engineer rule from the Women’s GT Junior Cup, and I’m going to explain my reasons for that in the upcoming post.

We’ll begin the hiring process on Tuesday the 28th of August!

Re: Women's GT Masters - Season 03 - Hiring Race Engineers

Post by Turbogirl »

Chapter 8 – Hiring Race Engineers

You need 2 race engineers in total, 1 for each car. As before, you may bid for 4 different people at the same time, 2 for each car. It doesn’t matter at this moment which engineer will work on what car later on. What will matter though is your overall strategy.

You might be surprised to read that all available race engineers are female. Yeah, and I didn’t even have to scrape the bottom of the barrel to find them! A lot of these ladies have quite the high profile. To make things a bit more interesting, I also collected some engineering graduates on a second list so that you can actually do something to help them become full-time race engineers.

Bidding for an engineering graduate starts at 25.000 Credits a season, bidding for an experienced race engineer starts at 50.000 Credits a season.

Depending on your overall strategy, experienced race engineers can actually double as mentors for inexperienced drivers, while experienced drivers can double as mentors for inexperienced race engineers (engineering graduates). I mention that in case some of you should want to hire rookie drivers later on, then you should partner them with either 1 experienced driver or 1 experienced race engineer (or both) to somewhat guarantee a steady learning curve.

Partnering inexperienced drivers with inexperienced race engineers can and will result in a lot of unwanted debris and/or even motivation loss on both sides. Of course, partnering experienced drivers with experienced race engineers is your stereotypical win-win-situation, albeit an expensive one.

Experienced Race Engineers

They come from so many different levels of motorsport: DTM, British GT, Blancpain Endurance Series, Australian V8 Supercars, Formula E, IndyCar, Nascar, WEC/LMS, Formula 2, even Formula 1. I also included those currently working as data engineers, if they were race engineers at one point in their career or have studied mechanical engineering.

Unlike before in the Women’s GT Junior Cup way back in 2014, this time around all of these race engineers are on the same level of crafts(wo)manship. You can spot minor differences, sure, but not as extreme as we once had it. That’s why I dropped the chief engineer rule I introduced back then. It became obsolete.

Code: Select all

Elise Acker             Bernadette Collins      Judith Henzel
Cara Adams              Alba Colon              Jennifer Lloyd

Delphine Biscaye        Tiffany Daniels         Romy Mayer

Engineering Graduates

All these graduates studied mechanical engineering, just in case you might ask, so they’re more than capable of setting up a GT3 racecar – or any racecar for that matter – in theory. What they lack is, of course, practice and experience.

Re: Women's GT Masters - Season 03 - Hiring Race Engineers

Post by AustralianStig »

Steffi Schmidt looked at the list of potential applicants her PA had provided her. Quickly, she crossed out the majority of the names, including anyone with no racing experience. Those who had freshly graduated would be useful down the track, but for a new team it was important to start off with stability.

With the list narrowed to half a dozen, she checked a few records before settling on two engineers that she knew would be useful for the team.

Ruth Buscombe is young, yet has experience beyond her years with top F1 teams. Add to it that she already has a working relationship with Monisha, and appears to be looking for a new challenge - signing her would be a no brainer.

Another name also jumped out at her - Romy Mayer has been working in the Australian Supercars series, but has experience working for the AMG GT3 program. The German had worked in many countries, across multiple series, and Steffi knew a move back to Europe would be tempting.

She fired off emails to the two ladies offering them 65,000 credit contracts each.

I regards to the Faulty Perception mechanic, KV Racing will offer 100,000 to whoever of these four engineers that Danny wants to call up (and let's hope no one else comes to mind):

Cara Adams
Anna Chatten
Leena Gade
Louis Clearwater

I think you misunderstood the Faulty Perception mechanic there. You get to choose up to 4 race engineers (2 for each car) by your own free will from any of the two available lists, as stated in my original post. THEN I roll a 6-sided dice (D6) to determine if your character is actually affected by his Faulty Perception at all.

If that's the case, THEN I roll the appropriate dice (or use a RNG) to determine 2 more random names from any of the aforementioned lists (including the engineering graduates, of course) that are then added to the choices you've made in order to have 6 names in total on your "wishlist". THEN the D6 is rolled twice to determine the final choices your character makes.

These two race engineers are then contacted by Danny with the offer you made beforehand (100.000 Credits), and you must hire them, if they accept your offer. In case they receive offers from other teams as well, you'll also be forced to increase your bids until you come out on top.

So, in order for this to work properly, please name the 4 race engineers you want to bid for on your own free will. :)

Hiring Race Engineers – Round 2

If you’re the only team gunning for a certain race engineer or engineering graduate and you’re willing to pay a reasonable salary (at least 25.000 Credits for an engineering graduate and at least 50.000 Credits for an experienced race engineer), they will most likely accept your offer right away.

Should there be more than one team gunning for the same race engineer or engineering graduate, they will not only evaluate the proposed salary, but your current Team Reputation and Team Status as well. This in turn can lead to race engineers or engineering graduates take up the offer from a team with higher reputation, even though the salary is lower than what another competitor is offering. Some might even go for the higher salary and ignore the Team Status or Team Reputation altogether.

Please keep in mind that you mustn’t take it personally if a potential employee declines your offer. That only means that she received a better one from one of your competitors. Should that deal evaporize for whatever reason and the lady in question should then want to use your offer as a fallback plan, don’t take it out on her. We all want the best deal when we’re looking for a job, don’t we?

So, let’s get down to business:

You now have the following options

1.) If you’ve already received positive feedback from potential employees, you can either make a deal with them or not. Those you rejected will go back to the pool until someone else bids for them in our next round.

2.) If you were unable to make a deal yet, you can either bid for up to 4 other race engineers or engineering graduates, or you can wait and see who goes back to the pool due to being rejected by another competitor. Should you want to do that, please read the 3rd option below.

3.) Should a certain race engineer or engineering graduate you bid for be rejected by the competitor she wanted to make a deal with, you can reinstate your original offer or make changes to it, such as lowering or increasing the proposed salary.

Please keep in mind that, unlike before, you can’t end all negotiations. You can’t run a racing team when you don’t have anybody to set up your cars before each race. I mean, yes, technically you can, but don’t expect any decent results to come out of that!

Since I’m taking a small vacation as of this Friday, our new deadline is Tuesday the 18th (September). I don’t know if I’ll have access to the internet (and if, how much), so I might not visit the forum too often until I’m back!
