Important Information: Google-Search on Team Managers

I know I might be a bit late to the party with this, seeing how many of you have already started bidding, but I’ve noticed a few problems with the google search on some of the ladies on my list.

To make sure you get the correct search results, always type in: „(name) team manager“ before hitting the search-button, for example: „ines koschutnig team manager“. This’ll do the trick – and it also gives you the results on all the ladies on this list who aren't Team Managers yet.

The only two ladies you might not be able to find are:

Carmen Ziegler – she was the Team Manager of the Sauber F1 team from 1993 to 1994
Monica Bregoli-Sipsz – she was the Team Manager of Alfa Corse 2, an Alfa Romeo team, during their time in the DTM (mid-90's)

I hope this was helpful! :)

P.S.: Of course, already collecting your bids offline.

Important Announcement – WTCC is coming!

The WTCC, as in Women’s Touring Car Championship – just so that no one mistakes it for the actual WTCC! I’m not doing this as a playable series, or at least not yet. It’ll serve as a prologue to our Women’s GT Masters, and it’ll give you a lot of additional information about past events and (hopefully) some rather intense racing action.

I’d be very, very happy if some of you would come along to read and follow. Maybe, just maybe, some of you like to post a few comments or even act as pitlane reporters and help me out with additional articles to make the WTCC more vivid, but it’s not mandatory. I’d be happy already, if some of you decided to follow occasionally.

Link to the series here:
https://gprejects.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=8316&sid=8513fe701b49be9c851109da0a4d2971

Or just click on the link I’ve added to my signature down below.

Women’s GT Masters Update:

I’m currently waiting for RedEyes504’s bids. He’s the only one who hasn’t posted yet, but he still has time until Tuesday next week, so no worries there! And since dr-baker is on vacation until Friday this week, I think sticking to the original deadline (Tuesday) is the best option for now. :)

You have several options now

1.) Continue negotiations
If you’re okay with the new terms, you can continue to bid for a certain Team Manager. There will be enough rounds to this process, so don’t feel forced to act hastily or even recklessly. It is also possible that certain Team Managers accept your new offer, even if it only comes close to what they would like to be paid.

2.) End negotiations
If the payment a certain Team Manager asks of you seems outrageous to you, you can end negotiations with the lady in question immediately. If you do that, you can go to Options 3 or 4, if you like.

3.) Contact new potential employees
If you choose to end negotiations with certain Team Managers, you may bid for others on the list. Please do not bid for more than 4 Team Managers at a time! So, if you decide to end negotiations with two Team Managers, for example, you may only bid for two new ones.

4.) End all negotiations
If you think that all these demands are far more than you ever wanted to pay any potential Team Manager, no matter how good she might be, you may also end all negotiations right here and now. If you do, please post a note stating your intentions.

The New Deadline

Seeing that everyone is able to make my deadlines without problems, I think we should stick to the established pattern for now. So, in other words, our new deadline is Tuesday the 31st of July.

As always, ask me anything you’d like to know – even what the capitol of Burundi is, if you really want to know that from me... :P

No, you're good. Faulty Perception is not coming into play yet, because of three reasons. Two of them won't be revealed just yet, otherwise I'd be handing out free tips, and that can be dangerous for a gamemaster. Then again, if you're clever and capable of reading between the lines, you might have already figured it out from my last couple of instructional posts alone. Yup, that one right there just was a free tip! ;)

More important is the third reason: Hiring a Team Manager is optional! You can "end all negotiations" at any point during this chapter, and no harm is done. How bad of a habit could Faulty Perception actually be, if you could just end all negotiations once the dice roll isn't to your liking?

No, no. Bad Habits will come into play once you can't escape them. For example, when you're hiring engineers and drivers or negotiate with important suppliers, like tyre suppliers. At that point, you can't escape your bad habit, because you need people to drive your cars, and you need tyres on your cars as well. :)

MSRT notes that they are now the only suitor still interested in Carmen Ziegler, and would like remind her that secure jobs in motorsport are uncommon and should not be dismissed out of hand without a fallback plan.

Having said that, MSRT are willing to increase their offer to 315,000 per year, trusting this will resolve the situation in a timely manner.

MSRT, showing they aren't tied to just one option, would also like to extend the same offer to Monisha Kaltenborn.

Alright, because I’ve already received all updates on your bids, I see no reason not to cut the current deadline short by a few days. So, on to Round 3! :)

Since no one told me to do otherwise via „end negotiations with...“, I’ve kept all of your bids intact and only updated the ones you’ve posted. Teams are still in order of the entry list, updated bids in bold.

Also, you’ve got company! I’ve talked about the mysterious non-player teams (NPTs) for quite a while now, and they’re finally ready. On schedule, as I’d like to add. Time to put them to good use and „antagonize“ a little.

Team No. 1: JAS Motorsport (Gertrand Bachot)
... does not wish to hire a Team Manager (already noted on entry list).

Team No. 2: Genesis Engineering (Dexter249)
... does not wish to hire a Team Manager (already noted on entry list).

Team No. 3: Scuderia Mediterranea (novitopoli)
Bids in order of preference.
1.) Monica Bregoli-Sipsz – 300.000 Credits
... is only interested, if you raise the salary by at least 80 %.
2.) Carmen Ziegler – 300.000 Credits
... is only interested, if you raise the salary by at least 80 %.
3.) Tiziana Borghi – 300.000 Credits
... is only interested, if you raise the salary by at least 65 %.
4.) Ines Koschutnig – 450.000 Credits
... is interested, but asks for a raise of at least 22 %.

Team No. 4: DRS Motorsport (dr-baker)
... does not wih to hire a Team Manager (already noted on entry list).

Team No. 5: Monster Schmidt Racing Team (AustralianStig)
Bids in order of preference.
1.) Monisha Kaltenborn – 315.000 Credits
... is interested, but asks for a raise of at least 40 %.
2.) Carmen Ziegler – 315.000 Credits
... is only interested, if you raise the salary by at least 75 %.

... and would like to remind you that she’s already willing to work for peanuts compared to the simple fact that a woman with her expertise and business connections is literally worth millions in this industry. Aside from that, her fallback plan is her long-standing connection to the Mercedes-Benz brand, which pretty much guarantees her a job either in one of their teams or in administration.
... please see „Options“ below!
3.) Victoria Haynes – 300.000 Credits
... is interested, but asks for a raise of at least 30 %.
4.) Julie Berthelot – 300.000 Credits
... is interested, but asks for a raise of at least 50 %.

Team No. 6: Red Bull Women’s Team (V8fan12)
1.) Michaela Oujeszká – 400.000 Credits
... is interested and would be delighted to accept your offer, but asks for a raise of 5 %.

2.) Carmen Ziegler – 300.000 Credits

3.) Ines Koschutnig – 300.000 Credits
... is interested, but asks for a raise of at least 50 %.
4.) Esther Lauber – 300.000 Credits
... is interested and would be honoured to accept your offer.

Team No. 7: Motorsport Bleu (Bleu)
Bids in order of preference.
1.) Caroline Grifnée – 300.000 Credits
... is interested, but asks for a raise of at least 50 %.
2.) Grazia Troncon – 340.000 Credits
... is interested and would be honoured to accept your offer.

3.) Monica Bregoli-Sipsz – 300.000 Credits
... is only interested, if you raise the salary by at least 80 %.
4.) Astrid Lang – 300.000 Credits
... is only interested, if you raise the salary by at least 65 %.

Team No. 8: KV Racing Technology (CaptainGetz12)
Bids in order of preference.
1.) Ines Koschutnig – 500.000 Credits
... is interested, but asks for a raise of 10 %.

2.) Claire Magnant – 300.000 Credits
... is only interested, if you raise the salary by at least 100 %.
3.) Sarah Ahmed – 300.000 Credits

2.) Astrid Lang – 480.000 Credits
... is interested, but asks for a raise of 10 %.
3.) Nicole Melleg – 515.000 Credits
... is interested and would be delighted to accept your offer.
4.) Lucie Horová – 580.000 Credits
... is interested and would be delighted to accept your offer.

Team No. 11: Alpina Team Meeuvissen (NPT2)
1.) Julie Berthelot – 425.000 Credits
... is interested, but asks for raise of 15 %.
2.) Sarah Ahmed – 465.000 Credits
... is interested and would be delighted to accept your offer.
3.) Tiziana Borghi – 450.000 Credits
... is interested, but asks for a raise of 12 %.
4.) Nancy Kahnt – 450.000 Credits
... is interested, but asks for a raise of 12 %.

Team No. 12: Team Rosqvist (NPT3)

2.) Milena Koerner – 300.000 Credits

3.) Deborah Lyall – 395.000 Credits
... is interested and would be delighted to accept your offer, but asks for a raise of 10 %
4.) Iris Dorr – 500.000 Credits
... is interested and would be delighted to accept your offer.

You still have the following options

1.) Continue negotiations
If you’re okay with the new terms, you can continue to bid for a certain Team Manager. There will be one, maybe two more rounds to this process, because most of you have already made so much progress – and I’m pretty sure that everyone else will be satisfied after another round tops. Remember, it is possible that certain Team Managers accept your new offer, even if it only comes close to what they would like to be paid.

5.) Contract Negotiations (D20) – AustralianStig only!
Steffi Schmidt has the skill „Contract Negotiations (D20)“. Since there currently is another team bidding for Carmen Ziegler, you can try to make good use of your character’s skill, if you like. This requires your bid coming at least close to what the rival team has offered (+/- 5 %). Then you can use your skill and try to shut down your opponent, as well as any more salary negotiations by Ziegler.

Our new deadline is next Saturday (August the 4th).

MSRT laugh off suggestions that Carmen Ziegler would prefer to work in administration - if that is the role that she would like then she will not be a strong fit in a progressive, forward-thinking team that exhibits the best female talent that the world has to offer. Thus ends all negotiations with Ms Ziegler.

MSRT turn their attention to Monisha Kaltenborn, and would like to make a final non-negotiable offer of 350,000 credits, with an option of 100,000 bonus should the team finish in the Top 3 for the season, or 200,000 if MSRT win the team championship.

The deadline is closing in, and I still need novitopoli's bids!

You still need to post either an update on your bid for Ines Koschutnig or an alternative for any of the other Team Managers on the list.

DRS Racing would like to 're-enter negotiations with Carmen Ziegler for the team manager post and offer her a one-year contract for 500,000 credits.

Seeing that everyone made the deadline, except novitopoli, I think it's only fair to let Ines Koschutnig accept the offer from KV Racing Technology (CaptainGetz12) as a consequence, simply because his final bid arrived well in time.

Now on to the penultimate round of the Team Manager signing. Teams are still in order of the entry list, updated bids in bold.

Team No. 1: JAS Motorsport (Gertrand Bachot)
... does not wish to hire a Team Manager (already noted on entry list).

Team No. 2: Genesis Engineering (Dexter249)

Bids in order of preference.
1.) Monica Bregoli-Sipsz – 300.000 Credits
... is only interested, if you raise the salary by at least 80 %.
2.) Carmen Ziegler – 300.000 Credits
... is only interested, if you raise the salary by at least 80 %.
3.) Tiziana Borghi – 300.000 Credits
... is only interested, if you raise the salary by at least 65 %.

Team No. 4: DRS Motorsport (dr-baker)
1.) Carmen Ziegler – 500.000 Credits
... is interested and would be delighted to accept your offer.

Team No. 5: Monster Schmidt Racing Team (AustralianStig)
Bids in order of preference.
1.) Monisha Kaltenborn – 350.000 Credits plus option*
(* 100.000 Credits if the team finishes in the Top 3 of the Constructors’ Standings, 200.000 Credits if the team wins the Constructors’ Title)
... is willing to accept your offer under one condition: A one-year contract with a success clause on your end. If you finish this year’s Constructors’ Championship lower than 3rd place, she’s free to leave and take her business connections elsewhere.

2.) Victoria Haynes – 300.000 Credits

2.) Claire Magnant – 300.000 Credits
... is only interested, if you raise the salary by at least 100 %.
3.) Sarah Ahmed – 300.000 Credits
... is interested, but asks for a raise of at least 50 %.

Team No. 9: BKR Motorsport (RedEyes504)
... welcomes new Team Manager Caroline Grifnée (yearly salary: 450.000 Credits).

Team No. 10: Ford Motorenwerke (NPT1)
1.) Barbara Mockenhaupt – 515.000 Credits
... is interested and would be delighted to accept your offer.
2.) Astrid Lang – 480.000 Credits

4.) Lucie Horová – 580.000 Credits
... is interested and would be delighted to accept your offer.

Team No. 11: Alpina Team Meeuvissen (NPT2)

Team No. 12: Team Rosqvist (NPT3)
... welcomes new Team Manager Iris Dorr (yearly salary: 500.000 Credits).

You still have the following options

1.) Continue negotiations
If you’re okay with the new terms, you can continue to bid for a certain Team Manager. There will be one, maybe two more rounds to this process, because most of you have already made so much progress – and I’m pretty sure that everyone else will be satisfied after another round at maximum. Remember, it is possible that certain Team Managers accept your new offer, even if it only comes close to what they would like to be paid.

Our new deadline is next Monday (August the 13th).

Hiring a Team Manager – Finishing Touches

Let’s pretend that we’ve skipped a few months ahead in time. During that period, your new Team Manager has settled in and started optimizing your team’s internal structure to make it more efficient and professional, resulting in an increase in Team Reputation.

That enabled her to strike additional sponsorship deals, which in turn lead to an increase in Team Budget. (This is simply a real-life explanation for the rule about 1 Team Rep = 500.000 Credits I posted a while back. I know it’s rather unrealistic to acquire that big of a budget without having anything to show for yet (cars, drivers, etc.), but let’s keep it simple for the sake of the gameplay.)

Our current entry list on page 1 of this thread has been updated accordingly. Please check for any possible mistakes!

Team No. 1: JAS Motorsport (Gertrand Bachot)
... no Team Manager hired.

Team No. 2: Genesis Engineering (Dexter249)
... no Team Manager hired.

... has missed the second deadline in a row, resulting in him not being able to secure a deal with a Team Manager on the list as a consequence. As much as it pains me to say, but if you miss the next deadline as well, you leave me no other choice than to deny your team any further participation and relegate you to the waiting list.

Explanation (if needed): Breach of Contract (BoC)
If the contract is prematurely terminated for whatever reason, the party committing the BoC is fined half the salary determined in the contract. In short: If you commit the BoC, you must pay the departing employee half his/her salary. Of course, if you come to a special agreement to settle things differently, the BoC clause will be ignored in favour of said agreement.

Next up: Finding a suitable car manufacturer

First and foremost, there are 4 different possible types of team structures (referred to as „Team Status“ on the entry form) in this game:

1.) Works Team
A works team is 100 % owned and financed by an automobile manufacturer and almost always has exclusive access to the best and most modern racing cars said manufacturer has to offer. These deals are extremely rare and quite hard to come by, unless you’ve already made a name for yourself.

2.) Factory-backed Team
A team backed but not owned by an automobile manufacturer or tuner. It can receive support from the manufacturer or tuner through additional staff and/or factory drivers, or by being able to use certain facilities, and sometimes even by receiving additional cash, either from the manufacturer/tuner himself or from individual sponsorship deals.

3.) Satellite Team or Semi-works Team
Usually a smaller team with strong connections to a larger team of any kind, maybe through the same owner. This connection also includes the exchange of technical personnel and/or drivers. If the larger team is a works team or at least factory-backed, the smaller satellite team can also be called a semi-works team. Prime example for satellite teams are junior squads.

4.) Privateer Team or Customer Team
This team is neither owned by an automobile manufacturer, nor is it supported by one. The Team Owner pays for all the expenses either by himself or through sponsorship. Teams like this buy customer cars from the automobile manufacturers or their trusted tuners and sometimes get smaller benefits from such a deal, but not enough to count as „real“ backing.

In light of this, I’m going to post a complete list of available customer GT3 cars you can purchase next, but also (given how much Team Reputation some of you have already gathered) a much shorter list of individual offers from certain manufacturers, who’re interested in making a special deal with your team specifically.

This list will be up on Thursday, the 16th of August!

That is quite the oversight, indeed. Kinda reminds me of Wulfhard, the proud warrior of my group, who dove head-first into a band of ogres armed to their teeth, completely blacking out on the fact that his trusted bastard sword had been turned to ashes by a dragon mere hours ago. Poor Wulfhard never was the sharpest tool in the shed, but if you want to believe the band of ogres, he was quite scrumptious.

Anyway, happy to hear that you're still with us. :)

Re: Women's GT Masters - Season 01 - Manufacturer Deals

Post by Turbogirl »

Chapter 7 – Manufacturer Deals

Welcome to the most important decision you can make this season! You basically have 2 options: Either you remain a privateer and purchase two (or more) customer GT3 cars from one of the customer lists below, or you choose to go BIG and accept a special manufacturer deal, if you’re lucky enough to receive such a deal in the first place.

Don’t feel angry or neglected if you’re not offered one of these special deals right away – it has nothing to do with you personally! It all depends on your current Team Reputation. If it’s high enough, manufacturers will start recognizing you as an „interesting business opportunity“, to put it in fancy terms.

But let’s provide you with the GT3 customer lists first. Please be aware of the fact that an up-to-date customer GT3 car is at least 10 % less powerful and/or reliable than its works counterpart! Picking a customer GT3 car from the second list (the „older“ models list) can effectively save you some money, but the cars on that list tend to be at least 20 – 30 % less powerful and/or reliable than the more modern GT3 models.

Standard Customer Deals

If you like to remain a privateer/customer team, simply find the perfect fit for you and post an inquiry (in this very thread, of course). Soon after, your personal customer service manager will get into contact with you to negotiate your individual customer deal. You don’t need any Team Reputation at all to make a standard customer deal, you only need enough cash to pay for the cars.

However, you might be able to negotiate a few smaller clauses in your contract, e. g. the use of factory drivers. Your personal customer manager will provide you with some options based on your current Team Reputation and the skill level of your Team Manager, if you’ve hired one.

MANUFACTURER     GT3 MODEL                    P.P.U.        TEAMS

Jaguar           XKR GT3                      200.000         1
Maserati         GranSport Coupé GT3          200.000         1
Venturi          GT3 Heritage                 200.000         1

„Teams“ indicates how many teams a certain manufacturer can supply.

„P.P.U.“ translates to „price per unit“ and denotes the price for one car. Since each team needs two racecars to participate, just double the P.P.U. and you’re good. If you also want to buy a spare, just in case your drivers might crash any of the other two cars either during testing or during qualifying, triple the P.P.U.

The price of a GT3 car does not say anything about its quality, speed or even reliability!

You’ve certainly noticed that a lot of manufacturers are missing from these lists, and you’ll most likely notice that a lot of manufacturers will stay missing during this season. We might not be following any real-life season, but in order to prevent a powercreep from happening, I was forced to withhold certain GT3 cars for now, simply because they are more modern than others.

Since I’m planning to do more seasons of the Women’s GT Masters, be assured that the missing manufacturers (along with their cars) will show up sooner than later, while others will leave the scene as soon as their cars become obsolete, or their funds run out, or their company goes into administration.

It should be noted as well that real-life business connections are also present in this game, though some might differ slightly to fit the fictional narrative. Lamborghini belongs to Audi, Maserati and Ferrari to FIAT-Chrysler, etc. That should help those of you who’re gunning for factory-backing from a manufacturer that hasn’t appeared yet or doesn’t offer factory-backing yet. Just strike any other available deal with a manufacturer belonging to the same parent company, show some steady results, if you can, and hope for a promotion as soon as the manufacturer you want to strike a deal with enters the scene.

This game is designed to reward you for such long-term schemes. Almost all customer deals are one-year contracts anyway!

Special Manufacturer Deals

Solely based on your current Team Reputation and your Home Base, some of you receive a special offer from a manufacturer interested in making a factory deal with you. You’re free to compare their offer to any standard customer deal available before you post your answer.

Just keep in mind that if you decline such a special manufacturer deal, said deal will evaporate entirely. You can not use it as a fallback plan, and neither can any rival team pick up where you left off. It is, however, possible that the manufacturer in question will get in touch with a suitable competitor instead, should you decline.

How to evaluate your special manufacturer deal

I haven’t seen many of these deals in other series on this forum, or at least not done in the way I intend to, so a little guidance is in order.

Breach of Contract (BoC)
Just as I explained before, if the contract is prematurely terminated, the party committing the BoC is fined the sum noted under this clause. Special agreements of any kind can lead to the BoC clause being ignored, if both parties accept the special terms.

Press Officers
These get „installed“ by some of the bigger car companies to moderate between the team and the press. Given your temper and that of your drivers, the press officer is going to do her best to reduce verbal outbursts to a minimum, which in turn prevents the team from losing Reputation Points due to media scandals and such. That can, however, lead to certain drivers getting even more angry, because they feel they can’t express themselves freely anymore, hence they might lose motivation more rapidly.

Factory Drivers
More in detail on these in a later post, but for now all you need to know is this: factory drivers are always employed by the manufacturer and come with advanced skills for the GT3 cars of said manufacturer. Having them in your cars is always a huge plus, unless the driver development program of your trusted manufacturer is kinda crap. That happens sometimes, especially with brands that put their attention more on marketability than on motorsport itself. If factory drivers are part of the deal, you have to accept them, whoever they may be.

If factory drivers are missing from your special deal, they’re usually missing for one of two reasons: Either the manufacturer in question is too small or ill-financed to run a driver development program on its own, or the manufacturer in question trusts you enough to leave all the driver signings to you. If that’s the case, they might offer you some of their factory drivers later on, but you still have the option to reject them.

Factory drivers can also become part of any customer contract. Sometimes a certain manufacturer has so many factory-backed drivers in his development program, that there are enough to not only fill up their factory-backed team(s), but also to supply their customers as well. Again, more on that in a later chapter.

Sharing the prize money
Since the manufacturer in question is already backing you, he certainly wants his share of the potential prize money. It’s up to you to decide, if it’s a fair share or not. The first figure denotes your share, the second the manufacturer’s. So, a sharing rate of 20/80 translates to 20 % of the prize money for you, and the other 80 % for the manufacturer.

Should there be any more questions, feel free to drop me a line! :)

Our new deadline is Thursday, the 23rd of August!
