After a short break for drivers to take a RRL-mandated course labelled "Safety Cars and What To Do With Them", we bring to you a preview of the second round of the Random Racing League.

Or rather, the second round, part 1 and part 2...

Well, due to the double-header format, there are two races for me to post for this round. I can't post them all at once, so here's the first race of the round!

"Carmona once again retires from the race". Another accident.

Welp, it gets unlucky and unlucky more than getting from bad to worse for him. It's another "Well, we're done here. Next!".

Well, you know what they say about a double-header, "You can't have one head without the other head!".

Actually, nobody has ever said that.

Regardless, here's the second head of the double-header!

From experience, it seems to be on a track-by-track basis, also probably highly dependent on the cars used.

I ran some races with an A1GP mod to test out if AI races worked, with default-ish AI with very little modification.
Some tracks, like Toban Raceway and Croft, there'd be some corners where AT LEAST a car a lap would crash at. Likewise, on other tracks like Hidden Valley and Neva Ring, you could literally fast-forward through an entire race without incident.

Because each track is custom-made, and AIWs - the lines AI take - are set up by (I believe) the track makers driving around the track themselves, its all fairly iffy if AI racing works on certain tracks. And because AIWs are set by driving a car around a lap of the track, I think some AIWs are more suited to certain cars. Like the Camaro race at Autopolis in the last RRL, there were more incidents with them than with the A1GP cars in my test races, though that could be down to the driver's AI stats, idk.

So if you're planning to run a serious-ish AI Racing series with rFactor 2, be aware of which tracks could cause multiple incidents.

And NEVER use Macau. See last RRL for reference.

rFactor based games have a hidden option to 'train' the AI on each track to optimise their performance for different cars. This helped with the quality of the racing in F5000 when I ran that series in rFactor 1, though it couldn't quite make up for a modded track that had a borked AI line to begin with.

I tell you, it was boring for the first 20 minutes or so, save the occasional pass in the midfield.

And then engines and then pit stops and then that stack up and then Eileen being Eileen.

I guess it goes to show that RRL drivers are more wild and manic than normal rF2 AI. Which I'm not terribly surprised by.

This doesn't seem that far off from a normal F1 race in the 1960s. Must be the Florida air that made things go south.

I must know something considering my drivers won 4 of the first 5 races this season. :D
