We are waiting for Lotus, Fittipaldi and Toleman to post their plans regarding their 1982 chassis development.

I will give you until Thursday 12:00 EEST until I run the last four races and proceed with things. You will be able to design your chassis after that as well but with a penalty to the chassis performance.

3000cr investment means you will be building a new chassis. The ranges are:
1500-2500 - Evolution
2500-5000 - New chassis

1981 ROUND 13 - ZANDVOORT

The final upgrades have been installed to the cars. Lotus, McLaren and Alfa Romeo have brought massive upgrades here with Arrows and Osella among other teams with decent upgrades.

Pre-qualifying has light drizzle but rest of the weekend is expected to be dry.

Image
The ORANJE BOVEN of Fittiapaldi prevail to the surprise of no one. Daly out.

Image
Nelson Piquet takes his 6th pole position this season with a massive lap. Gilles Villeneuve only one who got even close. McLaren and Alfa Romeo clearly benefiting from their upgrades.

Image

Zandvoort Notes
- Piquet dominates the weekend and takes the points lead from Jones who finished two laps down
- McLaren's upgrades work perfectly as both their drivers finish on the podium
- Patrese finally scores a point thanks to Alfa's huge upgrade package

1981 ROUND 14 - MONZA

Weather is dry.

Image
Salazar with his first Pre-Q exit this season. Overall very tight session.

Image
Championship hopefuls Piquet and Jones duel it out but the Brabham driver narrowly comes on top. Top-12 drivers qualifying within one second so race will most likely be action-packed.

Image

Monza Notes
- Polesitter Nelson Piquet has a loose wheel which forces him to make an extra pit stop, dropping him out of the points
- Alan Jones wins and retakes the championship lead again by a single point
- McLaren continue their strong late season form with another double points finish

1981 ROUND 15 - ÎLE NOTRE-DAME

Pre-qualifying sees moderate rain soak the track. Qualifying and race will have dry weather.

Image
Derek Daly was once again the slowest and failed to qualify.

Image
Alan Jones takes an important pole position while rival Piquet is only 6th.

Image

Île Notre-Dame Notes
- Alan Jones wins from pole and wins the 1981 drivers' championship
- Nelson Piquet retires after a collision with Siegfried Stohr while lapping the Arrows driver on lap 47

1981 ROUND 16 - CAESARS PALACE

Weather is dry.

Image
Daly out, nothing new.

Image
Prost takes the pole. De Cesaris has technical issues and fails to qualify after being over three seconds slower than his teammate.

Image

Caesars Palace Notes
- Jones and Pironi crash out together on lap 1
- Piquet wins but it's not enough - he loses the title by a single point to Jones
- Lotus score a double points finish which helps them climb up to 8th in the constructor's over Arrows
- Williams wins the contructors' championship with a four point cushion over Brabham

---

Final points standings have been updated on the wiki page.

This concludes the season. Next up will be the 1982 chassis RNG, distribution of prize money and other preparations ahead of the 1982 season. Thank you everyone for being a part of this and watch this space for news regarding the 1982 season :)

1982 CHASSIS RNG IS HERE
There are a bunch of calculations involved in the function that calculates the new chassis' performance but basically what matters is the amount of money invested, the base performance of the previous (1981) chassis and the average of two randomly generated numbers which signify the succesfulness of your designers and engineers.

The RNG is range 1-100 and you'll be hoping for as high numbers as possible.

First up is Williams
5000cr invested
RNG says 26 & 13!
Average is 19,5!
Not ideal for the reigning champions and will probably have to rely on mid-season upgrades.
-
Tyrrell
4500cr invested
RNG says 53 & 54!
Average is 53,5!
Decent result which should keep Tyrrell comfortably in the midfield.
-
Brabham
2500cr invested (evolution of 1981)
RNG says 31 & 51!
Average is 41!
Average result but should keep Brabham competitive - depending on other teams' upgrades.
-
McLaren
5000cr invested
RNG says 10 & 13!
Average is 11,5!
Terrible result for the team that had improved so much in the latter part of 1981. Final performance remains to be seen.
-
ATS
2000cr invested (evolution of 1981)
RNG says 47 & 1!
Average is 24!
ATS are struggling on many fronts and the single car team's prospect don't look too promising for 1982 either.
-
Lotus
3000cr invested
RNG says 39 & 89!
Average is 64!
Lotus get value for their money and the engineers should be happy with their new car.
-
Ensign
2000cr invested (evolution of 1981)
RNG says 77 & 1!
Average is 39!
Ensign scored a single lucky point in 1981 and decided to design an evolution of their chassis for 1982. Points will be hard to come by with this one.
-
Renault
5000cr invested
RNG says 64 & 83!
Average is 73,5!
Big investment and excellent engineering give Renault a big result. The team to beat in 1982?
-
March
3000cr invested
RNG says 34 & 28!
Average is 31!
March's return to F1 has been tough and things don't look too rosy for 1982 either with this average result.
-
Fittipaldi
1500cr invested (evolution of 1981)
RNG says 6 & 82!
Average is 44!
Not a bad result but the fact that the Brazilian team are only doing the bare minimum will not help them advance up the grid.
-
Alfa Romeo
5000cr invested
RNG says 17 & 8!
Average is 12,5!
The Italian team are throwing big money on the team but so far it has not paid out. It's not looking likely that 1982 will be any different with the poor result.
-
Ligier
2500cr invested (evolution of 1981)
RNG says 57 & 28!
Average is 42,5!
Ligier's 1981 chassis wasn't a bad one so an evolution is somewhat logical decision. An average result should keep them in the running for points but podiums will be harder to come by.
-
Ferrari
4000cr invested
RNG says 15 & 69!
Average is 42!
Average all around. After so many main rivals have faltered with their designs, this one looks to be one of the better chassis for 1982.
-
Arrows
4500cr invested
RNG says 13 & 87!
Average is 50!
Arrows gets a decent result that should move them closer to the top-runners.
-
Osella
2500cr invested (evolution of 1981)
RNG says 80 & 83!
Average is 81,5!
The small Italian team has limited resources but they look to have found and fixed the shortcomings of their 1981 chassis. They start 1982 in pre-qualifying but advancing shouldn't be a problem with this one.
-
Theodore
2500cr invested
RNG says 98 & 62!
Average is 80!
Like Osella, Theodore works with small a team but their engineers have put in the work. Excellent result for the one-car team.
-
Toleman's plans are TBD still but seeing that they are running low on cash, I assume they will continue on with their 1981 chassis for the time being.

Next I will open the 1982 season thread. Thanks for the season everyone and see you in 1982 soon!

With 1982 topic opened, here are the financial results of each team.
Brabham 4900
Fittipaldi 4320
Ensign 3900
Arrows 3050
Williams 2400
Ferrari 650
Ligier 550
Tyrrell -600
Theodore -800
Osella -930
ATS -940
March -1980
Alfa Romeo -2580
Toleman -2950
McLaren -3000
Lotus -3570
Renault -3600

In percentages, Fittipaldi and Ensign get the best result with at least 60% profit. Toleman suffered almost 37% loss with March and Lotus also suffering over 20%.
