Pilotverse 2021 - Season DONE! See you in 2022!

Post by Pilot »

Hello everyone,
I'll be running my own alternative F1 management game, with a little twist. This takes on the form of being more similar to Football Manager, where teams will have a Youth Academy to manage and focus on promoting and developing drivers. Driver talents will slowly phase in and out, but be wary that they are completely randomized and might not reach their full potential! All drivers are ranked on a tier list (which is on the spreadsheet). New entries will be considered yearly or added by myself. This will also focus on running the team as a business. You can go bankrupt and such, but I'll try to keep the rules light to let y'all have fun! All races will be simmed in a customized version of Aislabie's spreadsheet.

Thanks to CarloSpace, Pasta, Klon, GB, Taxi, and many more for letting me copy their great work and letting me use it as a foundation. Also thanks to Aislabie as without him, this wouldn't be possible!

WIKI:
https://formularejects.com/wiki/2021_Pi ... _F1_Season

2021 TEAMS:
Alfa Romeo - Pinkd56
AlphaTauri - Aislabie
Alpine - TCBY
Aston Martin - Dom
Ferrari - GB
Haas - Shawn
McLaren - Rob Dylan
Mercedes - Klon
Red Bull - Takagi
Williams - Pi

Waiting list:
Hermann95
Spooder918
_gg_
Frogfoot9013

SEASON LAYOUT:
Team Selection
Administration Period (team name changes, news, etc)
Sign sponsors and engine deals
Sign drivers + sign youth drivers
Rounds 1-8
1st R&D + Driver Replacement
Rounds 9-16
2nd R&D + Driver Replacement
Rounds 17-23
Offseason R&D
Track Wildcard Selection
Season End, Prize Money, Bankruptcy

CONTRACTS:
Yearly contracts based on the price listed in the spreadsheet, simple stuff. Driver contracts are YEARLY but can be canceled at the R&D breaks, and while you can hire a new driver, you still owe the other driver his salary. Driver Academy contracts last one year and will need to be renewed each year. Teams can sell driver seats to other teams. Paydrivers are included but are very rare.

YOUTH DRIVER ACADEMY:
Each team is required to run a YDA. 4 youth drivers, two in F2, two in F3. Each contract lasts one year and will be required to be renewed.

R&D:
Explained on the spreadsheet as well, 3 different periods for R&D. One after Round 8, one after Round 16, and an offseason one to end the year. Prices and chassis values can be seen in the spreadsheet. The chassis value can go over 100, but if this happens, there is the chance that the FIA investigates and applies penalties.

ENGINE DEVELOPMENT:
Engine development will be randomized yearly based on certain parameters. New engine entries will also be randomized from the lowest current offering and a baseline number of 60. Engine development is capped at 100.

Engine tier RNG:
Current | Range
90-100 | -2.0 to 2.0
80-90 | -3.0 to 3.0
70-80 | -4.0 to 4.0
60-70 | -5.0 to 6.0
0-60 | -6.0 to 8.0

DEBT AND BANKRUPTCY
Teams can go into debt, but make sure to be able to pay the yearly entrance fee. If not, the entry will be voided and the team will be disqualified. The entry fee is the first fee at the start of the season. 600c.

SPREADSHEET CAN BE FOUND HERE

Feel free to ask questions here or on Discord if I missed anything!

NOW: ADMINISTRATION PERIOD

This is the time, owners, to strike deals with other teams, cancel deals with current teams (looking at you, AlphaTauri), and other stuff while we wait for anyone to sign up for Mercedes.

This period continues for the whole season, but while we wait until March 13th for anyone to join as Red Bull, I will allow any deals to start. After this period, I will open up the floor for sponsor deals!

At the end of the 2021 season, AlphaTauri plans to end its association with Red Bull and to bring the Minardi name back into the sport. Absolutely no idea how that'll work for us financially, but hey ho

I'm going off the assumption that no-one on the discord has nabbed Red Bull yet, so if that's the case I'll come in and nab them; if not, could I go on the waiting list please?

McLaren have three suggestions in order of priority for their title sponsor for 2021:

McLaren
1. Vodafone
2. BP
3. Virgin

I think we'll keep the process quite pro-British for the time being and see what happens.

SPONSOR SIGNING TIME:

Time to sign sponsors! As engine deals have already been done for this season, we’ll jump straight in. Would like these done by the end of the Weekend if possible.

Template:
Team Name:
Sponsor 1:
Sponsor 2:
Sponsor 3:

After all bids are in, will be an RNG to see. Remember, team nationality will play a role, along with making sure to follow the conditions listed in the spreadsheet.

If no one leaves, you’ll probably get a slot next season due to expansion, but we’ll see about that ;)

Re: Pilotverse 2021 - DRIVER AND YDA TIME

Post by Pilot »

Pilotverse 2021 Entry List is DONE:

Image

Next up:

DRIVER AND YDA SIGNING:
Alright, so obviously, this year, all current drivers are on one-year deals (along with engine deals). 2022 will be a party.

Youth drivers can be found in the spreadsheet under the sheet labeled "F2/F3 Drivers" which contains all information.

The new feature is the focus on the Youth Driver Academy. For the first year, it will be RNG as normal. Template at the bottom.

Each team has two F2 slots and two F3 slots.

In RNG, nationality, the chance to break into F1, and past track record will play a part in convincing a driver to sign with your youth program. Each driver will be paid a flat fee of 100c, so no need to worry about those fees. Just bid on who you'd like to join your program for a year.

After the year, if you move a driver up (from F3 to F2, or F2 to F1) you will be guaranteed that they will sign that contract. However, if you don't move them up, the next year everyone who stayed at the same level (in F2 and F3) can switch teams if they'd like. RNG usually will help keep drivers (super high chance), but if they see no chance of moving up they might leave.

Make sure to note their current skill tier, potential skill tier, and their appropriate level. Over the offseason, there will be RNG to determine how much a driver improves.

If not all teams sign a full YDA, there will be a round 2 of bidding.
