Pilotverse 2022 - Rounds 1-8 DONE! First R&D Time!

Post by Pilot »

Welcome back, everyone. 2021 saw what we all assumed; a Mercedes WCC victory and a Mercedes WDC victory. But now, the offseason has occurred, drivers have developed, and it's a new season with 15 teams! 4 drivers will not qualify for the grid of 26 at each track.

2021 thread here: https://gprejects.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=8743

Once again, thanks to CarloSpace, Pasta, Klon, GB, Taxi, and many more for letting me copy their great work and letting me use it as a foundation. Also thanks to Aislabie as without him, this wouldn't be possible!

WIKI:
https://formularejects.com/wiki/2022_Pi ... _F1_Season

2022 TEAMS:
Alpine: TCBY
Aston Martin: Wazzle
Ferrari: GB
Glickenhaus: FalconCapelli
Haas: Shawn
McLaren: Rob Dylan
Mercedes: Klon
Minardi: Aislabie
Monaco GP: Frogfoot
Panthera: _gg_
Porsche: Spooder918
Red Bull: Takagi
Sauber: Pinkd56
Toyota: Hermann95
Williams: Pi

Waiting list:

SEASON LAYOUT:
Administration Period (team name changes, news, etc)
Factory upgrade
Driver retainment + move up F3 to F2 to F1
Sign sponsors and engine deals
Sign drivers + sign youth drivers
Rounds 1-8
1st R&D + Driver Replacement
Rounds 9-16
2nd R&D + Driver Replacement
Rounds 17-23
Offseason R&D
Track Wildcard Selection
Season End, Prize Money, Bankruptcy

FACTORY DEVELOPMENT: NEW for 2022!
On the spreadsheet, you will see a column labeled Factory Rating. This is the percentage of gains retained from an R&D session or an offseason chassis session. At the start of the new season, you can upgrade this value by buying an upgrade listed under the 'R&D, Chassis, Factory' tab in the spreadsheet.

CONTRACTS:
Yearly contracts based on the price listed in the spreadsheet, simple stuff. Driver contracts are YEARLY but can be canceled at the R&D breaks, and while you can hire a new driver, you still owe the other driver his salary. Driver Academy contracts last one year and will need to be renewed each year. Teams can sell driver seats to other teams. Paydrivers are included but are very rare. You can offer a driver up to a 4-year contract, and their price will not change over the duration of the signed contract. You can cancel a contract and will only owe them for the rest of the year, but not future years. You can not bid higher or lower than the price listed on the sheet. Engine and sponsorship deals are for up to 4 years. Factory teams pay a flat 2500cr credit for their engine.

YOUTH DRIVER ACADEMY:
Each team is required to run a YDA. 4 youth drivers, two in F2, two in F3. Contracts do not have fees and can be offered from a minimum of 1 year to a maximum of 4 years. You are not signing a driver to the F2 or F3 seat but to the academy, and during the offseason can move them between the two series if desired. However, if you move them to F1, you will need to pay them a salary there and you will need a YDA replacement.

Youth drivers can be found in the spreadsheet under the sheet labeled "Drivers" which contains all information. Drivers with no salary are considered to be youth drivers, but you can offer them a salary to move up to Formula 1.

In RNG, nationality, the chance to break into F1, and past track record will play a part in convincing a driver to sign with your youth program. Each driver will be paid a flat fee of 100c, so no need to worry about those fees. Just bid on who you'd like to join your program.

If you move a driver up from your youth academy to your Formula 1 team, you are guaranteed that they sign up to a two-year deal with the team (either 1 or 2 depending on what the team wants). However, after the end of the contract, they will enter free agency like every other driver. For their first contract, they will have a minimum wage salary (100c).

Make sure to note their current skill tier, potential skill tier, and their appropriate level. Over the offseason, there will be RNG to determine how much a driver improves. If a driver finishes in the top 3 for the F3 or F2 WDC, their potential rating will have a slight increase.

If not all teams sign a full YDA, there will be a round 2 of bidding.

R&D:
Explained on the spreadsheet as well, 3 different periods for R&D. One after Round 8, one after Round 16, and an offseason one to end the year. Prices and chassis values can be seen in the spreadsheet. The chassis value can go over 100, but if this happens, there is the chance that the FIA investigates and applies penalties during scrutineering during the R&D periods. Furthermore, new regulations every few years will reset chassis development.

ENGINE DEVELOPMENT:
Engine development will be randomized yearly based on certain parameters. New engine entries will also be randomized from the lowest current offering and a baseline number of 60. Engine development can also go over 100, but for continued numbers over 100, that provides a higher chance of failing scrutineering at the R&D periods. Furthermore, new regulations every few years will reset engine development.

DEBT AND BANKRUPTCY
Teams can go into debt during the season, but make sure to be able to pay the yearly entrance fee. If not, the entry will be voided and the team will be disqualified. The entry fee is the first fee at the start of the season, and it is 1000c.

SPREADSHEET CAN BE FOUND HERE

FACTORY + DRIVER RETAINMENT TIME + ENGINES:

NEW FOR 2022! Factory Ratings!
Please indicate what level you would like a factory upgrade for.

Firstly, as this is a new year, I will let all teams pick ONE of their 2021 drivers (if they would like to) and allow them to retain them at market price for either a 1 or 2-year contract.

Furthermore, I will allow teams to move up their F3 and F2 drivers. If you move them up, only for this season, you can grant them a further 1 or 2-year contract with the academy. If you don't move them up, they can enter free agency this season.

Please also let me know if you intend to move up one of your F2 or F3 drivers to Formula One this year. In this period, you can only move up one of the FOUR drivers under your academy last season. If you move them up, they will have a minimum wage contract (100c) for either 1 or 2 years.

Finally, also add what engine you would like this year. Make sure to check that the engine you want has enough deals to supply your team! You can sign an engine deal for up to 4 years.

This is probably confusing, so please let me know if you have any questions in the Discord and I will answer.

Minardi

We won't be upgrading Faenza at this point because we're majorly skint.

Image Pierre Gasly will be retained for two years after a stellar 2021.

Image Gianluca Petecof will be promoted to Formula 2, and kept on a two year contract.

Our planned engine supplier is Ferrari for the next one year. If that doesn't work out, then we'll go Cosworth for the next one year.

SPONSOR SIGNING TIME:

Sponsor signing time, make sure to look at the list of sponsors in the sheet and check their conditions as well. Preference will be giving for nationality and previous sponsorships. Make sure to give the length you want to sign the sponsor for (can be for up to 4 years). Some sponsors also bring upgrades, so check those out as well!

Team Name:
Sponsor 1:
Sponsor 2:
Sponsor 3:

DRIVING SIGNING TIME:
Pretty simple, list your driver preferences (and contract length) for the open seats you have. There isn't a technical benefit for putting a driver in the first seat compared to the second seat, but it may have an RNG impact on drivers on which seat you offer. You cannot change the price that they are listed for, so just bid on the driver you would like, and for how long (up to 4 years).

You CAN bid on Formula 2 and 3 drivers and offer them an F1 seat. They will either cost 100c as all other rookies, or you might get lucky and one might be a paydriver, but you won't know until you sign them. If a driver is already contracted to another YDA, you cannot offer them a Formula 1 seat.

It seems that every avenue is being explored, including the use of BMW engines. The BMW group have been quoted as being very interested in working with the McLaren team, and the relationship could be beneficial in giving the Woking group a competitive engine instead of the shitty Renault they got lumped with this year ffs

AutoPilot Magazine wrote:BREAKING NEWS

After advertising McLaren out to the BMW group, Zak Brown managed to successfully overnight change the course of McLaren's entire history by securing a multi-million yen contract and EXCLUSIVE rights to use the BMW engine and McLaren only for the next 25 years*. The swiftness of the deal has left many bewildered, and McLaren have suddenly found themselves in many legal issues which the investors and shareholders are not particularly happy about, seeing as this all happened behind closed doors and over less than a week period.

Therefore Zak Brown is out for 2022 and has been replaced by a BMW-friendly team principal from the German manufacturer. His name is Bastian Matthias Weitzmann, he's super happy and good with the press, and is 100% convinced that BMW McLaren have the best engine on the grid and will win the 2022 title on their first try. Bold words from Mr B.M.W.

*unconfirmed

In the light of these extraordinary changes, BMW McLaren would like to take advantage of the current force majeure occasion and promote David Beckmann straight from Formula 3 to Formula 1. He may be young and underprepared, but the season will be shite anyway so he might as well get some practice.
