Daily Kat News
Press Release Pre-Season
By Harry Katze

By the rumours on the British camping near the headquarters of Lotus there is a chance that the new Lotus manager named Rick Hammercat is offering Piercarlo Ghinzani a one year contract as Lotus their official reserve driver for the 1991 season, Hammercat told the tabloids that he "is looking for an experienced driver who can standby when one of the main drivers (Red. Gugelmin and Comas) is unable to finish the race weekend and the rumours are pointing towards Ghinzani since he is also an Italian favourited driver".

The rumours received at the postbox of Daily Kat News are talking about 200.000 a 500.000 pond offered by the personal sponsor of Ghinzani who is creating creative mural arts around the globe, we will see how that ends in the world of today.

If all of above is true, that will mean that the Lotus team would be complete for this season with 3 drivers with enough experience to survive the 1991 season.

To be continue soon!

One question: if you get multiple upgrades (medium or small), do they have to be all on the same area of the car? Or can you mix & match?

You can mix and match the area, but not the sizes.
So a small Grip-Drag-Weight combo f.e. is possible.

Briatore is promising his sponsors and the media at large that Mansell can easily win 5 races this year if the car is a little more driveable. Therefore Benetton are putting all their effort into making this happen.

Team: Benetton
Upgrades: One Large Upgrade please
Target Upgrade 1: Driveability

My God for a C chassis the M191 is awful, even the D tiers are beating it in all categories. Clearly the RNG Gods were displeased.

Autsport wrote:Safety concerns in Formula One

The recent injuries to Jean Alesi and Thierry Boutsen, do raise concerns throughout the paddock. This leads to a decision by the FISA, to introduce stricter crash tests ahead of the 1992 season. Team insiders claim that this will go hand in hand with a change in car weight, some saying that the chassis will be 15 kg heavier on average.

This is however not the only change in regulation. As an immediate answer, the FISA is mandating every team to contract a stand-by reserve driver before the next race at Hockenheim. In case of further injuries this season, those will fill the vacant seats. "Should a team fail to provide evidence of a contracted reserve driver, they will get one assigned by us", said a FISA spokesperson.

Medium reliability and grip update for Minardi please - still on the back foot with the car.

For the reserve driver, we go for the one who costs the least for the rest of this season. (Been unable to properly check lately :( )

R&D Update

First up Ligier
Small Grip:
0-50: 32
Drawback drag: 22
Drawback driveability: 14
Small driveability:
0-50: 46
Small Reliability:
0-50: 31
Weight Drawback: 0,36kg (0kg because of Ross Brawn)
All in all a decent upgrade session for Ligier

Jordan: small grip:
0-50: 46
Drawback drag: 42
Drawback driveability: 15
Okay I'd say

Lotus with two medium grip updates:
Medium Grip:
0-100: 21
Drawback Drag: 7
Drawback Driveability: 11
Medium Grip:
0-100: 11
Drawback Drag: 6
Drawback Driveability: 0
That is a proper stinker of an upgrade session

And last but not least: Minardi with a medium Reliability and Grip update
Reliability:
0-100: 100
Drawback weight: 0,5kg
Grip:
0-100: 91
Drawback drag: 26
Drawback driveability: 17
That's an incredible session for Minardi

Reserve Driver Signings

Claudio Langes -> Leyton House
Mika Salo -> Arrows
Emmanuel Collard -> Ligier
Cheapest driver available -> Minardi

The cheapest driver available is a Rookie, and an Italian Rookie would make sense. So Andrea Montermini it is.

Rule Changes for 1992

Confirmed changes:
    1) Change of crash tests, which leads to cars being about 15 kg heavier.

Changes, decided by the governing body(me):
    1) New sponsorship system, featuring multiple goals and the possibility for multi-year contracts
    2) Slightly altered upgrade system, with focus on testing and test-drivers

Possible changes, voted by the teams:
    1) Changing the draft to 3 rounds instead of 4.

To enter, your entry needs some kind of Italian connection. This could be the team, the driver, a supplier or your sponsor.
You can sign any driver you want, as long as he isn't currently contracted with another team. Drivers won't cost or bring any money. Max 1 entry per team for now. Only if the 16 entries aren't full, you can enter a second car on short notice.

It would probably make sense to rename to March, just like it RL. But as it's a very different timeline, we might as well say the Leyton House controversy is never happening, so I think it's up to you in the end.

Gameplay wise, it doesn't change anything for you.

Super happy for Mansell finally getting his first championship after the promise of 1990 for both him and the team. Benetton have a strong team line-up going into 1992, and are very impressed especially with Irvine's end-of-year performance at Suzuka. To finish ahead of Senna in the standings only proves he is a possible future GOAT.

As Benetton is an Italian company, we'd love to take part in the Indoor Trophy. However, we run a British flag, though maybe after winning the championship they'll let that slide. Also, why not give our reserve driver Mark Blundell a shot while we're at it?

Therefore we're going to test the water. Mark Blundell will head to the Indoor Trophy to represent Benetton, and if there's a huge amount of demand, we'll send in #1 Nigel Mansell at the last minute as our second driver.

Just to confirm what I said to Hermann yesterday, Mansell will take time out of his well earned holiday and compete in the Indoor Trophy too.

If there's even more demand for entrants, Flavio can pull some strings and bring Eddie Irvine along too.
