Jolyon must be disappointed not to have the chance to win this, particularly when it is so close!

There's always the chance of Stoffel unrejectifying himself and forcing me to rewrite history!

Re: F1 Rejects World Championship - Leclerc champion, for no

Post by Bobby Doorknobs »

It's time to check in with the championship you can't take your eye off of for a second because someone could retroactively disqualify themselves at any race! This year has seen only Pierre Gasly unrejectify himself, meaning that the 2017 standings have had to be amended. Here's what they look like now:

2017
1. Stoffel Vandoorne - 320
2. Pascal Wehrlein - 264
3. Jolyon Palmer - 244
4. Marcus Ericsson - 226
5. Brendon Hartley - 33 (promoted 1 place)
6. Antonio Giovinazzi - 25 (promoted 1 place)

And turning our attention to this year's championship Stoffel Vandoorne has failed to deliver on a sensational start to the year in which he won the first four races on the trot (remember when McLaren were in the upper midfield?). He's had to contend with a challenge from both Sauber drivers, and even then it was reliability that kept Stoffel in the hunt right up to the final race. Still, with Leclerc going to Ferrari next season there's still a very real chance for the Belgian to become the first back-to-back champion since Jaime Alguersuari:

2018
1. Charles Leclerc - 337
2. Stoffel Vandoorne - 331
3. Marcus Ericsson - 310
4. Brendon Hartley - 249 (2 wins)
5. Sergey Sirotkin - 249 (1 win)

Was hoping Norris would be disqualified by now, leaving only two drivers for me to worry about. Alas...

1. Lando Norris - 410
2. Antonio Giovinazzi - 404
3. George Russell - 320
