2017 Singapore Grand Prix - Predicament Predictions!

Post by Rob Dylan »

Welcome to the 2017 Formula 1™ Singapore Airlines™ Singapore™ Grand Prix™ Predicament Predictions!

First of all, I am very sorry for my absence from the last two grand prixs for predicament predictions. My illness returned briefly and I was moving around both domestically and internationally, so my mind really wasn’t in focus for predictions. Thanks to everyone who worked on it without me – i will spend the next few days counting up scores and catching up on all the predicament championship things I missed. Apologies once again.

So.

Welcome to Singapore - also known as "home of the overtake". Let's get this weekend under way without further ado. My predictions are:

1. Kimi Räikönnen
2. Daniel Ricciardo
3. Max Verstappen
4. Lewis Hamilton
5. Sebastian Vettel
6. Max Verstappen
7. Esteban Ocon
8. Nico Hulkenberg
9. Kevin Magnussen
10. Pascal Wehrlein

Pole: Daniel Ricciardo
Fastest lap: Daniel Ricciardo
First retirement: Jolyon Palmer
ROTR: Jolyon Palmer
IIDOTR: Kimi Räikönnen
DBTMOTR: Jolyon Palmer
MLP: Esteban Ocon
DNS: Stoffel Vandoorne

Double points can be used whenever as long as you haven't already used them. As usual, a bonus point will be given to the funniest alternative race title.

If this race deserves any title, surely it should be the "That race where everybody goes on about a possible wet race that never happens" (as, yet again, it seems that there are some who are saying "it's going to be a wet race" - how frequently have I heard that predicted and never seen it actually happen).

Here's something far more exciting than the Malaysian race this weekend - it's the results from Singapore! A completely upside-down race, though with some surprisingly good guesses around the field. A low-scoring round in which many of the championship contenders were pretty much equal in terms of points. Let's see, shall we:

Results
1. dr-baker 15
2. Normal32 12
3. CarloSpace 11
- Aguvazk 11

5. Dexter249 9
- CoopsII 9
- Enforcer 9
8. Ugncreativeusergname 7
- AdrianBelmonte_ 7
- tommykl 7
- mario 7
- RAK 7
13. Rob Dylan 5
- This Could Be You 5
- Ataxia 5

So dr-baker wins outright for the second time this season! In a race where three of the top six usual suspects were out on the first corner, he managed to guess the podium in its exact order. So good job. As you can see, most of the major contenders were under ten points in score, allowing folks like dr-baker to catch up in the standings. Mario gets funniest race title for his reliable weather predictions. Onto the standings:

Standings
1. Mario 227
2. Tommykl 217
3. Ugncreativeusergname 201

4. Enforcer 201
5. dr-baker 196
6. RAK 189
7. CarloSpace 181
8. This Could Be You 180
9. Aislabie 180
10. CoopsII 180
11. Aguvazk 140
12. Rob Dylan 138
13. Dj_bereta 130
14. AdrianBelmonte_ 125
15. Ataxia 94
16. pi314159 93
17. Watka 91
18. Yannicksamlad 88
19. peteroli34 77
20. Normal32 72
21. RedEyes504 39
22. takagi_for_the_win 37
23. Miguel98 35
24. Bleu 29
25. Simtek 28
26. mash 28
27. TheFlyingCaterham 28
28. Pasta_Maldonado 26
29. Dexter249 23
30. Reject_Dom 21
31. andrew 16
32. FullMetalJack 15
33. Dartanian 12
34. DemocalypseNow 11
- IceG 11
36. dinizintheoven 10
37. golic_2004 7
38. Gonzalez 6

As you can see, the top order has not changed very much, with Mario's lead remaining at ten points. Quite lucky for the guy, as most of his direct contenders failed to capitalise on a crazy race such as this one. Dexter249 shoots up from 32nd in the championship to 29th, leaving some worried faces for the frontrunners. See you in Malaysia, for the Malaysian Grand Prix in Malaysia!

Don't you remember your first glorious win this year? It was at the drivers' favourite, Monaco, where you won with 20 points using double points.
