Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - Baku

Post by Londoner »

1. Sergio Perez - Easily best of the rest today.

2. Lance Stroll - A nice, under the radar run into the points for the chap.

George Russell - without him Bottas probably would have been overtaken on the last lap. Thank you, George.

At this point a mandatory mention for Raikkonen making magic happen with that car.

Alternatively: BALLOONS

Lance Stroll had a better recovery from his poor qualifying than I'd have expected. Honorable mention to balloons! :D

Racing Point were the only entity making me think "look at them going better than expected". Well, and Mercedes, but that's just depressing.

1. McLaren - if we remember to Baku last year they were fighting with Williams, twelve months later it’s a solid double points finish.

2. Balloons - because balloons.

McLaren
Balloons

I'd go for Racing Point, but both of their drivers seem to excel at this circuit, so the result could be expected.

Beating balloons by a close margin, Baku's IIDOTR winner is the combined great efforts of Racing Point and its driver Lance Stroll, who excelled (as they often do around this track) all weekend. Pérez's 5th on the grid was translated into 10 points by Sunday's end. Whilst in years gone by that would not be a king's ransom in points, what with everyone outside the top three teams floundering, for a top team to get a double-digits score is worth a note, and it bodes well for the team's season.
