Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - Canada

Post by Londoner »

1. Lance Stroll. Excellently executed his race strategy and 9th place is a decent reward/

2. Sebastian Vettel, for being bold enough to move the signs around in parc ferme.

Stroll: Did well there, made it work.

Kvyat's pass towards the end: THAT's racing!

Pirelli: Their stuff held well together today.

My nomination is Lance Stroll for a great drive from the back of the grid to the points. :D He has shown to be quite a capable driver this season – if he could only sort out his qualifying...

A heap of poutine covered in maple syrup for Lance Stroll. After being reminded in qualifying that he'd been dumped out in Q1 eleven races in a row, I didn't see that coming.

And Günther Steiner gets the other nomination for telling Kevin Magnussen to suck his balls, honey, in different words.

Renault, as well? Finishing where they were always supposed to have finished, a strict fourth in the pecking order, is worth noting after the horrorshow they've had so far.

I'd be tempted to nominate Renault - it was a decent performance from them, considering that they had to run a sub-optimal strategy compared to those around them, and they actually beat Gasly by a fairly decent chunk of time.

Stroll put in a decent performance as well - he drove that stint on the hard tyres just right, and reaped the rewards later on in the race with that stint on the mediums.

Renault Now that's more like it, finally showing the sort of form we expected for them this season. Clear 4th best team and even kept Red Bull honest.

Renault - For being relevant
Stroll - For beating his teammate with the previous spec engine
Vettel - For making great television

How many nominations do you get counted?

Lance Stroll - He did a perfect race on the strategy he was. Got it just right, and got the reward later.

Renault - Finally we see the french manufacturer playing a bit with the big boys. Hopefully it's the way forward this time.

Lance Stroll - Stand out drive!
Lewis Hamilton - For not getting angry when Vettel made his mistake, then consoling him on the podium.

1) Lance Stroll. Awesome drive at his home race, did a good job defending his place where he could.

2) Renault. A strong performance from both cars. Hopefully this means the team will challenge the Big 3 more often this year.

Honourable Mentions:
Lando Norris (Looked like a serious contender for the mid-points positions before the brakes decided to melt his rear suspension)
The Race Itself (Probably one of the better races of this year)
Max Verstappen (Made the most of a Q2 start by getting the jump on his rivals by starting on Hards)

After putting a certain driver down after a certain driver was a little bit cheeky, after a certain driver crashed that car and then trash-talked said car, the minions have voted in favour of Günther Steiner, for severely putting Kevin Magnussen in his place at the Canadian Grand Prix. Kevin complained that it was the worst car he had every driven, which was probably due to the fact that he crashed it in Q2. But anyway, his boss was not happy and told Kevin, "enough is enough", and Kevin said no more. Good management, Steiner
