2019 German Grand Prix - Predicament Predictions!

Post by Rob Dylan »

Welcome to the German Grand Prix of 2019, brought to you from sunny Hockenheim... or is that the Nürburgring? Who knows!? It's a surprise :D You know what else is a surprise? The result of the race!* How about we start predicting for some excitement. Here is your blank slate for the weekend; you have until the end of FP3 to put in your predictions before penalties apply:

*Disclaimer: result of race may not be surprising. GPRejects© takes no responsibility for level of excitement experienced during the racing weekend.

Pole:
Fastest lap:
First retirement:
Reject of the Race:
Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race:
Deadbeat Teammate of the Race:
Minor League Premiership:
Number of Safety Cars:

There's always a point for the funniest alternative race title you guys can come up with. The candidates for Minor League Premiership are: Alexander Albon; Antonio Giovinazzi; Lando Norris; George Russell. And you are always welcome to activate double points for one round only.

I, as usual, will predict a Bottas win, which means of course that Bottas will finish a mighty 4th. Oh well:

1. Valtteri Bottas
2. Sebastian Vettel
3. Charles Leclerc
4. Lewis Hamilton (penalty for unsafe pitstop)
5. Max Verstappen (Red Bull continue to be slow)
6. Lando Norris
7. Daniel Ricciardo
8. Carlos Sainz Jr.
9. Pierre Gasly (unforgivable form yet again)
10. Nico Hulkenberg (sits in 6th until his car breaks down right at the end)

Pole: Valtteri Bottas
Fastest lap: Lewis Hamilton
First retirement: Kevin Magnussen
ROTR: Formula 1.5 (Lando Norris was a lap and a half behind)
IIDOTR: Lando Norris (unrejectifies himself!!!)
DBTMOTR: Kevin Magnussen
MLP: Lando Norris
SCs: 0

Good luck everyone!

I predict Vettel will take out Gasly, and for Hülkenberg and Norris to be caught up in their mishap, with only Hülkenberg able to continue. Stroll will ram Giovinazzi, while Kvyat is taken out by Perez at the very start.

Hard to say who will be the talk of the race, Vettel or Gasly? Who is more rejectful at this point? I feel like the next few races are going to tell us if Gasly has found his rhythm or not, and if Vettel plans on sticking around to the end of the season.

My guess is that Hockenheim won't be back next year. :pantano:
"I don't think we should be used to finance (the manufacturers') R&D because they will produce that engine anyway" said Monisha Kaltenborn.
"You will never see a Mercedes using a Ferrari engine or the other way round."

So everyone seemed to think that Haas were going to have a terrible weekend. 8th and 7th after the penalties, hey, that's actually quite a good result! You know who didn't have a good result? Everyone on our competition :D our highest scorer had 9 points, and lowest 4, which means that the biggest swing of the entire standings was a solid 5 points. Nobody predicted Kubica in 10th, and very few predicted any of the top 10 in their exact places, seeing as all the drivers seemed to finish in the wrong place. It's wonderful seeing grand variation and races that are hard to predict, but it would have been nice to see somebody guessing a Kvyat podium :P oh well, let's look at the results.

Results
1. CaptainGetz12 9**
2. Aguvazk 8
3. ElBerto 7
- You-Gee-Eee-Day 7
- dr-baker 7
- tommykl 7*

7. yannicksamlad 6
- Psyclepath 6
- Faustus 6
- Pacific 777 6
- Bleu 6
- Fetzie 6
13. Rob Dylan 5
- RAK 5
15. CarloSpace 4
- Gertrand Bachot 4
- mario 4*
*submitted a few minutes late, and so no points for the pole prediction
**funniest alternative race title

So yeah, the standings are basically the same. Very few if almost no standings changes, other than dr-baker extending his lead by one point. That's about it! Here's the standings:

Standings
1. dr-baker 176.17
2. Fetzie 165
3. RAK 154

4. ElBerto 153
5. tommykl 148
