2019 Abby Dabby Grand Prix - Predicament Predictions!

The grand finale has arrived! Everyone is once again about to reminded that Brazil is yet again not the season closer, and in fact that honour goes to everyone's favourite race-track gripe since Bahrain hosted the opening round a few times. But the real excitement belongs to the Predicament Predictions circles, where at the time of writing there are only a few points separating the top 2, and not many more for the next contenders. Genuinely, we have no idea who will win this championship, so let's put in our smartest, or indeed our least predictable, predictions!

There's always a point for the funniest alternative race title you guys can come up with. In fact, because this is the last round, if you haven't used double points yet I will activate it for you :lol:

2019 Wish the final round was somewhere else, like the mid-season break when I was in the lead of this championship although that would be unfair on everyone else, and I shouldn't be cheeky because that cost me half a point in the last round in Brazil Grand Prix of Abu Dhabi

Now I know what you're thinking, why have I put three cans of delicious Rich Energy™ on the top of this thread? And the answer to that is because that is the grand prize to be given to the winner of the Predicament Predictions championship in 2019! Sorry about the lateness of this, folks - Christmas and job and everything took up my time, and I'm only now returning from the swamp of home (read: North Scotland) to dish these out.

But yes, provided by my good friend You-Gee-Eee-Day, who procured these over last summer, we now have "a crate" of Rich Energy™ to give to our lucky winner.

So who shall get it? Let's see.

So we were in Abu Dhabi, and the results gave us a runaway winner on double-points, that being Pacific 777, taking their second win this season. Having missed much of the first half of the season, Pacific has zoomed up the order with a late-season surge. But yeah, you've probably already zoomed right past this and seen the rest of the results, so I'll get straight to it. In a super result that didn't require any double points, RAK made a stonking performance to get 20 points out of the whole weekend. And you can guess what that means. His nearest contender by less than a point was dr-baker, and unfortunately things just didn't work out in the predicting front for the doctor, leaving him with only 11 points. And that means of course, that our Predicament Predictions Champion in 2019 is RAK! Two years running now, it was at the end a sizeable gap of around 8 points, which is a bit more comfortable than it otherwise has been the previous few races.

So overall, what do we think? It's a big shame for dr-baker, because that is now two years running that he has led the championship for a considerable amount of time (12 races!), but lost it at the end. I'm sure with his predicting skills he will win it in one day, but for this year he is runner-up. Then again, his position is better than last year, where he had finished 4th.

Third on the podium in the overall standings is a newbie since I have been hosting this competition: Fetzie! Having done a solid one race in 2018, they remained a dark horse all of this past season, with only one win and the rest of the season mostly out of the podium and just getting the points. And that just shows how important consistency is as much as getting the wins.

All three of the top three shall be getting messages from me soon to receive their prizes.

So how else can I sum up? Bleu was the funniest of you lot, getting four bonus points this season for their alternative race titles. CaptainGetz12 got three race wins, as many as our champion, though one of theirs was with by far the lowest I've ever seen for points: nine! That was in Germany, where basically nobody could have accurately predicted what happened then. But the captain got the closest! 2017 Predicament Predictions champion mario finished fifth with another respectable score, whilst ElBerto got the highest number of wins of anyone: four! Also, I looked it up and I have no records of ElBerto taking part in any previous seasons of Predicament Predictions. This means that they finished fourth in their debut season, so good bloody job!

Losing by less than 10 points is a respectable results. I'll accept it. One of these days, I'll be able to convert a mid-season lead into an overall championship...

Commiserations, dr-baker, but you did put up a good fight again and I expect you to be in the running for next year's championship with your results over the last two years.

Congratulations to RAK and dr-baker; it was a hard-fought season with some quite unpredictable (*cough* Germany *cough*) races and some very predictable ones.

Here's to 2020 and more great competition!

(btw. don't drink all of those cans of liquid sugar and caffeine in one go :))

Wow, so I missed much of the first half of the season, and type the first thing that comes to mind, yet still walked away with 2 wins and a midfield final classification? Not a bad season at all.

@RAK , Well done, enjoy the prize :) Got the lotto numbers by any chance?

@dr-baker , don't stress, remember in 2018 Ferrari and Vettel also had the mid season lead and they couldn't even take the fight anywhere near to the final race. Who knows, 2020 could be your year

Also shout out to Fetzie, ElBerto, and mario, Nice, that was tighter than an F1 driver's schedule, 1 different race here or there, and things could have been so much different. Good job.
