Safety car about to come in, when Max Verstappen's engine explodes. An indistinct team radio seems to suggest Max making some comment along the lines of, "At least it lasted longer than Brundle's engine at the 1994 British Grand Prix." Unusually for a 21st century engine failure, and even more so under a safety car, it was no less spectacular. Particularly for those in the pit lane, who could see the engine detonate as the cars all charge along the pit straight towards the green flag. Immediate virtual safety car. Other Honda drivers now worried.

Forget the last few posts. What really happened was recorded here:

Summary:

-Grid based on last year's championship order.

-Hamilton stalls and is out of the race.

-Bottas leads but Verstappen and Leclerc collide!

-Kyvat takes out 5 cars in a crash!

-Racing Point then get DSQ for being too similar to the W10!

-Thunderstorm!

-The Williamses pit for tyres a lap before everyone else.

-In using the DAS, the steering wheel comes off the steering column of Bottas's car!

-At this stage, it's a Williams 1-2!

-Claire Williams lets them race, but they both run wide, allowing Sainz through to the lead...

-Final race results:

1. Sainz
2. Russell
3. Latifi
4. Raikkonen
5. Ricciardo
6. Giovinazzi
7. Norris
8. Gasly
9. Perez
10. Grosjean.

All credit to WTF1, similar to the race that was starting to pan out here, but not quite. I mean, early retirements for Hamilton and Verstappen in both...

Clearly a mistake in the above results, as the commentary said that both Racing Points were disqualified, yet Perez was still in the points? Obviously an irregularity in the results, so probably best if the whole race was just struck from the records, yeah?

It was because they were accidentally racing under the Midland Team name, so they only penalised the constructor rather than the driver.

And since that decision, the FiA has reversed their decision on appeal from Ferrari to have Racing Point reinstated, and have instead disqualified Ferrari from the next three races. However, as the next three races have been cancelled, they have changed their decision to fine them 100 Zimbabwean Dollars.

Can the FIA provide change from a 1 trillion dollar bill?
