2021 Portuguese Grand Prix – Predicament Predictions!

Hello there! Welcome back (it's only been 12 hours) to the NEXT round of Predicament Predictions 2021. There's an even field spread throughout, so I so no reason why anyone couldn't just turn up right now and win the competition by the end of the year - there's plenty of rounds to catch up through, and plenty of points to earn in the meantime!

So good luck everyone, and get predicting! The rules are on the Bahrain thread if you need a catch-up. Of course, otherwise just ask here and I'm happy to answer your questions.

The results are in from Portugal.

Somehow people actually predicted an Alpine resurgence as something this community would vote for in droves, which made me chuckle a little bit :lol: sooooo many Mazepin guesses as well - I guess with him going for Reject of the Year, he's got some race-by-race protection. Most of the deadbeat teammate guesses were Seb and Nikita, that most of you forgot that Kimi sucks too!

Well done to tommykl for winning his first race since the 2019 United States Grand Prix! Crucially dr-baker came second, just a point off of the lead. tommykl actually stole it at the death with that Alpine guess - a very close call. Otherwise Batty gets their first podium (as far as I'm aware), so well done to them! But how does this affect the standings overall?

It's taking its time but there's a definite train of points developing. dr-baker keeps his lead, with RAK close behind, but having lost a few points over two races to give the doctor a tiny gap. Otherwise Ducktanian and Frogfoot are new contenders at the front for the series. 2017 series champion mario has had something of a slow start this season, but again he is really not that far off the lead when you consider the numbers.

The great thing about this year so far has been the consistency of all you runners. Nobody has been allowed to get a good lead by default of just submitting every race. Now that we have a good deal of runners, we have a very close championship that anyone could still realistically win with so many rounds to go.
