You're definitely a promising member - a guy whose first race was Jerez and still got hooked! :) Enjoy, mate.

The first F1 race in my life that I can remember watching was Jerez 1997 as well - this perhaps explains the Schumacher hate I had in my early F1 years.
But my F1 return after a few years pause, now that was rejectful, Turkey 2007

I basically got caught up in 2000 or so-I don't exactly remember the race, but I began seeing F1 races on a regular basis around 2003 or so when they began to be transmitted on public TV.

I started getiing into F1 in about 1992/3, and really started to become an F1 nerd in the winter of 1993/4 and thus Imola 1994 was the first GP I missed as a fan of the sport (had to visit my grandmother and the 6 pm news went on and guess what the lead story was?!).

Got into it in 2000, first race I remember was the Belgian (I think). Pretty good, at least no one died and it had that Hakkinen/Schumi/Zonta pass.

The first race I can clearly remember was Spa 1998. Wet.

First complete race, Portugal 1991 (Jump Jet Berger taking off from the HMS Patrese; a wheel coming off Mansell's car). I had seen other stuff in the past - I remember Nannini, for example.

The incident between Patrese and Berger was in 1992, I think.

Looked it up, you're right. But I remember the wheel coming off Mansell's Williams in 1991 as well.

My first full GP that I can remember watching was Australia 2002. That was the race when Half Schumacher proved that F1 cars could fly after launching off the back of Barrichello's Ferrari. It was also the race when I decided to support Minardi and Mark Webber.
This is a cool spot.

My first full GP is probably the 1997 Jerez GP, although I remember it more because of Häkkinen's first win rather than the Dry Sac -incident. I also remember some bits and pieces from as early as 1994 (Verstappen's pit fire in Germany and Lehto driving a Benetton, that is).

OK: Berger in the McLaren, Patrese in the Williams. One of them took off after hitting the other's rear wheels, and the guy in front tried to pit. Everyone was OK. That's how long ago it was...

Hello, everyone, my name is Thomas, and I have been browsing this forum for a few months before deciding to join around 2 months ago (I only found this thread now). I've been an F1 fan since 2004, but all I can remember clearly from that first race was Glock and Zonta driving...
Thanks for the warm welcome.

Long time listener. Greetings from Atlanta, GA and thanks for getting me to work with a smile on days which I was dreading being there. The podcast is a gift for those of us mired in mediocrity.

Now, why is Pedro Lamy not a reject? Granted, he did score one point _and_ suffered the misfortune of breaking both of his legs, poor chap. Otherwise, he is a shoe in, no?

As if anyone would be interested the first race I "saw" was on film at the local Scout Hut in 1962, of Sir Stirling's heroics at Monaco the previous year. Although I'd been following for 4 years before that.

I'm first in line.

My first race was Italy 2000, I think, which was the race that Paolo Ghislimberti, a marshall, was killed. I was 6 though, didn't overly concern me at the time, though retrospectively of course it does.

I was aware of F1 before that, through my dad and brother, but that's the first race I remember.

Hi everyone,

I stumbled upon the F1rejects website a few months ago and got interested to learn more about it. I think these failures are the ones who made this sport interesting. Without them, there would be no F1.

Greetings from Indonesia ;)
