I'm actually slightly stunned it's the first time Karthikeyan's ever got the award! :)

I guess basic mistakes and tortoise pace are just taken for granted as the norm from him, so not usually punished with RotR. Whereas arguably Schumacher's 7 time champion status is part of the reason why he has so many. (It's not just his comeback, he would've been top when his 1st career ended, and stayed there until Monza 08). But now his comeback has been littered with so many rookie errors that Enoch's got bored if giving it to him, even in races like this when he really should've got it...

I'm amazed that McLaren are still at 0.11 ROTR awards when they've done more than enough this year to deserve at least three more.

Yeah I've always thought it strange that they've never received an outright RotR considering how many blunders they've always made.

Makes a change for it to be a driver and even more so one who's previously got RotR awards! :)

I must point out in the leaderboard, Webber is still down as having 4.06 awards when it now should be 5.06. :)

Fixed, thanks for pointing it out. :) And yes, it's the 1st time since Spa that it's gone to a driver who had previously had an award, and the 1st time since Hungary that it's gone to just one driver who'd previously had one.

Well I looked at the leaderboard & saw "Mercedes" listed with 2 RotRs, but they were as an engine supplier, so for consistency with Toyota, Ferrari etc I retitled that entity "Mercedes engines" while Mercedes GP debuts in joint 47th. It is tricky deciding what to do in these situations... :?

I've got an idea for this thread looking at some of the posts on the thread about the 2012 season review - I reckon it would be a good idea to somewhere (perhaps the first post on this thread) list the RotR's for which there hasn't been a race review, for easy reference.

You could also include the late 2008 races in that too. :)

Yes it comes from 1/2 (0.50) of Europe 2007, 1/6 (0.17, well, 0.1666...) of Bahrain 2008, now 1/4 (0.25) of Malaysia 2013. So actually it's .91666..., i.e. 11/12ths. No-one's shared as many awards as Hamilton, although Raikkonen has the odd-looking .31 (actually .30555...) courtesy of 1/18th (0.0555...) of Canada 2007, and now this.

Here's a question, was there a ROTR award for Australia 2001, or was it not awarded due to the death of the marshall in the Villeneuve/Schumacher crash?

Can we also have the ROTR for Monaco 2001 retroactively changed, to Jamie and Enoch?

There was no RotR for Australia 2001, don't know why, it's not mentioned in the race review, personally I suspect they just forgot.

It's the same for Japan and Malaysia 2000 as well and there were no deaths in those races.......

Also Australia 2003 is missing. (And Monza 2000 had a death but still had a RotR). I reckon they just forgot for all of those races.

Although it's fairly safe to say if there was an award for Australia 2003, it'd probably go to Rubens Barrichello for blatantly jumping the start before throwing it into the wall at turn 5

Is someone's 3rd race a record for quickest RotR?

I guess it's a new record. Even Yuji Ide needed four races until his first ROTR.

I'm surprised Mclaren have never won this award outright despite it being held for 10 years and despite the Woking squad' best efforts to get it. Can someone tell me which GP was it that Mclaren shared ROTR

Japan 2002 was shared between the 9 teams apart from Ferrari due to them all failing miserably to even get close to challenging Ferrari, as had been the case all season. That's why so many teams scores end in .11. I agree it's surprising that they've never won it outright. In particular they were lucky that Liegate hadn't been exposed yet when the Australia 2009 decision was made...

I thought the "all teams bar Ferrari" RotR was rather harsh on teams like Minardi and (new to F1 that year) Toyota who even in anyone's wildest dreams couldn't have been reasonably expected to have challenged Ferrari. I think if anything it should have gone half and half to McLaren and Williams.

I'll try and name Schumacher's 10 ROTR's

Indy 2002 (Shared with Barrichello) Finish line formation
Malaysia 2003-Rash move into turn 1
Monaco 2004-Stupid errors cost win record
China 2004-Talentless secret clone turned up instead
Monaco 2006-For the qualy fiasco
Hungary 2006-Wasted title closing chance
Canada 2010-Reckless late race antics
Hungary 2010-For the move on Barichello
Turkey 2011-Broke front wing and passed by everyone
Germany 2011 (Shared with Vettel) Underwhelming performances by both German stars
Hungary 2012-Deletraz took over his car
